Pros:

Staff and bar food lovely

Cons:

Breakfast finished early on a Monday, so we missed that.
There was no water in the rooms and the machine on our floor was out of order

More than happy to have stayed in the Shearwater Hotel and Spa.
Pros:

I stayed in the Shearwater Hotel and Spa prior to attending a meeting in Galway the next day. I was not aware of its existence until I Googled for accommodation.
It is an excellent hotel for sure and I really enjoyed my short stay there from late evening until mid morning the next day. A very professional feel to the hotel. Room and bathroom were perfect and breakfast was very good with an attentive young staff. The swimming pool which I used was a fine size and the gym seemed to be very busy, which is nice to see that the locals use and appreciate the facilities as well.
All in all a very good experience and very good value for money.

Mean Hotel charging €6 supplement on Catch of the Day
Pros:

We had a one night package break, early February in the Sheerwater Hotel. Package included dinner. Very limited selection on package dinner menu. They were so mean to charge a €6 supplement on salmon Catch of the Day. I’ve never experienced this before. Battered Cod was server with inedible mushy peas tasting like they had been reheated several times.
