Dit is een prima hotel voor een verblijf in Sandakan, personeel is supervriendelijk, de locatie is prima, alles is goed te voet bereikbaar.
De kamers van het hotel zijn gedateerd, maar wel schoon, restaurant is daarentegen modern en pas opgeknapt denk ik.
Het ontbijt is wat minimalistisch.
De bedden zijn erg hard.
Je krijgt maar 2 (bad) handdoken, geen reserve wc-rol op de kamer.

We stayed at Hotel Sandakan for a couple of nights in April, in a ‘deluxe twin room’. Very good location if you’re interested in the nearby Heritage Trail. Pleasant, efficient receptionist. Clean, modern lobby. Our room, 513, had a large picture window with a view over a few streets toward the water, 2 chairs, a small round table, dresser/desk, closet. Odd ‘light boards’, but we got use to them. The bathroom was just ok, and the tap water was tan. We weren’t bothered by the nearby mosque call to prayer. Breakfast, included in the price, was served in the restaurant next to the reception desk. The first morning was buffet style; the second morning they offered limited choices/not the buffet. There is a Chinese restaurant on the 1st floor, however we didn’t try it.
* Although the room description included a refrigerator, and there was a space made for a small one, there wasn't one in the room.
* The lobby has been renovated however the hallways and rooms have not been. The photographs make the rooms look fresher and more updated than ours was.
El Hotel se encuentra muy bien ubicado en Sandakan. En pleno centro de la ciudad pero alejado del bullicio de las calles centrales, a unos 20 minutos del Aeropuerto de Sandakan y a 40 minutos en coche de Sepilok.
Llegué antes de la hora del Check-in y me guardaron el equipaje hasta que mi habitación estuvo preparada. Me avisaron por WhatsApp cuando la habitación estaba lista para entrar.
El aire acondicionado funcionaba bien.
La habitación no estaba limpia del todo. Había pelos en el baño de los anteriores huéspedes, un tapón de una botella de agua, suciedad debajo del lavabo y la mampara de la ducha parece que no se ha limpiado desde que se abrió el hotel.
El desayuno muy limitado y con pocas opciones. La piña estaba pasada.

The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, from reception to housekeeping. Location was good, very close to town.
This hotel is falling apart. Everything in my room was broken, the wardrobe door, the toilet was leaking, there was a bad smell and there was black mold on the ceiling of my room. Also the shower head sprayed the water over the shower cabin into bathroom, unless you held the shower head the whole time, so the room was soaked after showering. There were very few options for western breakfast, and no western food left if you arrived after 8:30.
