No recomiendo ese lugar a nadie.
Pros:

El edificio colonial

Cons:

Las habitaciones llenas de porquería. Camas durísimas de muelles de muelles. Muebles desconchados. Lo único decente la cafetería con vistas al puerto.

It's OK, but...
Pros:

Central location. (Just about) OK for a night or two.
View over harbour from 4th floor restaurant.

Cons:

It was probably Grand in its time, but now it is just gently decaying, tired and a bit grubby.

Comfortable stay in this hotel where you can feel the history of the place. Affordable prices and good location
Pros:

Very big grand colonial hotel that does feel its age but perhaps that is what adds to its charm. Does feel dated and worn but offers affordable value. Excellent location and decent breakfast served. Would stay there again.

Das Hotel ist wunderschön und sehr zentral. Das Frühstück war das beste, das ich seit langem hatte.

The location is close to the train station

Cons:

The room was filthy, the bathroom especially. It looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in about a year, and the rest of the hotel was super dusty and dirty also. Would not recommend this to anyone

Great historical hotel to start your Sri Lankan trip.
Cons:

Shame the Chinese have built an ugly flyover right in between the hotel dining room and the harbour front, fortunately not open when I stayed there.

Don’t stay there. It’s a cash grab
