Rooms were clean. Entire staff was friendly.
Breakfast was a little expensive for what was served. Suppose to have a bistro in hotel. Not. Serving only a few appetizers
Fabulous staff, location is convenient to everywhere very walkable, CLEAN
The only downside is the valet is $45 a day
Highly recommend
I do like it being at that end of River Street. The hotel bar was very enjoyable after we got in from rambling.(bartender was a good guy) Staff was very accommodating.
I had a total @ $75 bucks with cost and tips to park the car. With the rate of the room in addition to these parking fees, my budget to stay in Savannah has more options. This is my first stay at this HI.
Chris, Miss O, and Rhonda were excellent!! We came down and stayed for a family emergency. But they made our stay so pleasant and took great care of us!!!!
Review for Holiday Inn Savannah Historic District:
Location is nice but overall expensive & inconvenient . No USB charge ports in room. No complimentary breakfast, not even pastries or cereal. Parking is $45 per day via mandatory valet parking, which means it's not only ridiculously expensive, you can't just go to your vehicle whenever you want. And even though the valets were polite, you couldn't leave when you wanted because you had to wait at busy times to get your vehicle. There was no sound proofing between our room and the optional double suite room next to ours. Every bit of noise & conversation they had came though the connecting doors as if they were in our room with us, and they carried on til after midnight. Also, our circumstances changed and we needed to cancel the last couple of days of planned 5 day stay. Informed front desk at around 3pm the day we needed to leave but were told we had to pay for that night anyway as it was after 11am check out time - no grace given. Will never stay here again and do not recommend this place. Two stars as cleaning & valet staff were polite & room was clean.
Breakfast staff were working hard handling several responsibilities and number of people to service.
The daily parking rate was way too high ($45/ per day). The waterfront Marriott nearby parking rate was half the price in the same area. On site guests should not be charged more than $25 per day.
The Happy Hour and location
The room was too small
The rooms was clean.
The rooms had an unplesant smell.
Doris helped us with valet parking. She obviously enjoyed interacting with her clients. Hotel was excellent.
The water from the shower head was almost null. I felt like some form of breakfast should be included like a muffin or toast. The location was good. The folks were very kind and accommodating.
My wife and I went with Friends to Savanah and stayed at Holiday Inn Savanah Historic District 199 E Bay Street. Our Friends had Booked the Hotel in advance , so our room was Pre-Paid. Upon arrival I was asked for a credit card or Debit card to hold a $50.00 security Deposit. At check out we asked what is our Balance. They said no balance therefore you don't have a receipt. Later after we went home I checked on my card and there was an $1850.00 charge on my card. I called my Bank and let them know there was an unauthorized charge on my card. I called the Hotel and a day later spoke to the Manager . She told me that it was a computer glitch and sent me a letter asking my bank to release back the money into my account. This can take up to 90 days. BEWARE ! ON MAY 2026 THE HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS HOTEL AT 199 E BAY ST SAVANAH CHARGED US $1850.00 WITHOUT OUR PERMISSION FOR NO APPEARANT REASON, AND NOT TELL US !
Had I not checked with my bank, I would have not been aware of the charges for some time. In addition the Hotel has two elevators, One was out of order the whole time we were there and the other elevator would Shake and Shutter evert time we went past the 5th floor of 8 floors.
This hotel is fairly well-located, on the edge of the historic district/tourist area. It's fairly modern. Rooms are ok, and clean. We paid for breakfast, which was pretty good. They have oatmeal (no brown sugar or raisins), cereals, eggs, sausage/bacon, and variable items like hash browns, pancakes, or French toast. Bread and yogurt are also available. They have muffins, but run low on the blueberry ones. They have a happy hour with $5 drinks, and put out cookies at times. They don't have their own parking lot, except for valet parking at $45 per night. Other issues- from our room, you could hear traffic at night easily. When we arrived, they had shut off the water a few hours earlier, so the tap water had black particulate matter in it- this cleared up by the next day. They do have purified water in the hallways. Also, we had a clogged toilet, which they took care of. Staff were friendly. Prices (other than valet parking) were reasonable. However, I would likely shop for a different hotel on a future visit.
Was comfortable and convenient to our purpose in savannah.
Had a 2 night charge for valet parking and only stayed 1 night. The 2nd night charge was refunded when asked.
We stopped overnight in Savannah at the Holiday Inn with our pup on our road trip north from Florida to Massachusetts. Doris at valet was super friendly and welcoming. She gave us plenty of tips and tricks, the Holiday Inn must be so thankful to have her. Can’t wait to go back and explore the city more.
