Stayed at the hotel for a wedding, had a mix of experiences. Positives were that the food at the wedding was outstanding and lots of it! The staff were friendly and happy to help.
Negatives were that the rooms need updating, bathroom not very clean and there was a special knack to flushing the toilet. Check was at 2pm, we arrived around 1.45pm, the receptionist would not give us the key, even though it was available, until 2pm. The result was lots of guests waiting around in reception until 2pm, even though their rooms were ready!
Held my daughters wedding here in July .Had a fantastic day .Staff worked so hard to make the day a success .The food was lovely, nothing was to much trouble .I would say the rooms are basic but very clean and there’s everything you need for a short stay .From the wedding service to the night disco everything went seamlessly all due to the excellent staff .A big thank you to Danny and Cameron for all your hard work .would definitely recommend.
I used a Groupon 2 night break with breakfast for 2 and a bottle of wine on the first night. Check in was fine, room very spacious and clean. Quality of food for breakfast and evening meal was excellent and therefore had an easy decision to have dinner on the second night at the hotel. Plenty of room in the car park and grounds of the hotel extremely impressive. What really made the break so special was the staff. They couldn't do enough for you and were extremely attentive. Would certainly recommend this hotel for anybody exploring the York/Harrogate/Thirsk area.
First things first,i messed up my booking ,had a family event i had forgotten and they very kindly switched to a suitable date ,this despite the fact they had a coachload of 40 Australian people staying so occupancy must have been very high.Check in ,simple efficient, polite well handled by a young lady, dinner superb, staff extremely polite friendly and helpful, bar staff very polite and friendly.Hotel room was clean as was the whole hotel and there appeared to be several activities you can enjoy. Word of advise if you are wishing to visit the city of York be aware car parking in the centre is very expensive, however if you are of an age where you have a bus pass, suggest you drive into Huby(2 miles away)park your car on the 1st left and get the number 40 bus which arrives at 14 minutes past the hour(25 minute journey),the return is on the hour at least up to 3 pm(maybe later)
The location was perfect, the staff were exceptional. The food was first rate, fantastic all round.
There wasn’t anything to dislike
Decent hotel, close to York and more affordable than the city itself. In pleasant countryside/grounds. Friendly staff. Good breakfast.
Hotel would benefit from a refurb as is quite dated. Mattress not the best, and shower in the bath, rather than walk in shower. Games room with pool tables that didn't work properly.
Lovely grounds. Well organised. Big rooms. Comfortable bed. Quiet location. Hospitable.
Bit 1980s/basic in the bedroom. No bottled water and provision of plastic cups.
Good location for my needs
WiFi couldn’t cope when the busses arrived
The property from outside and the lobby
The bed was horrible
Everything was great especially the friendliness of the staff
Nothing
Never had breakfast
The only thing to mention was the bed it wasn’t the comfiest could feel spring coming through mattress
Breakfast was lovely , but the bacon was quite hard and difficult to cut
Nothing
The breakfast was good value.
Adequate parking.
Comfy beds.
They record your card CVC rather than making a pre-charge to your card - looks a bit dodgy.
Restaurant a little limited on choice for the evening - particularly for vegan/vegetarian.
Once there you don't want to drive out again and I think taxis are a bit of a long shot.... see point above.
There were a couple of annoying and rude guests.
Lot of parking but very few disabled spaces.
Beds comfy but room a little small for two - bathroom almost bigger than bedroom.
Some staff were helpful and good at their jobs. Others needed retraining. Spacious room. Good evening meals. Lovely position and grounds.
Corners cut... only one shampoo and body wash for twin room. Only given one sachet of coffee for breakfast. No coffee machine in restaurant or bar. Cheap orange juice, tasted like squash. Net curtain cut so small it didnt fit window. No air-conditioning in bedrooms, very hot.
Sehr gutes Hotel in exzellenter Lage, auch für Biker geeignet. Bar, Abendprogramm, Billard, Darts, alles sehr gepflegt und sauber
