We could not get warm ended up having a hot shower to warm up.
The food was good. The staff were approachable and courteous. We had everything we needed. There
There was anything we didnt like.
The staff were very friendly, the bed was comfortable, and the English breakfast was very good. They also have a restaurant with an extended menu, although I didn’t have dinner there, so I can’t comment on it.
Very bad shower. The surface is peeling off, and I scratched my hand because of it. It actually hurt my skin. This needs to be replaced as soon as possible. room 308
Lovely place I had bad fall been ill for whole year with traumatic we live in Scarborough so did want to travel far just needed break we love York as well
Location is great
The beds are uncomfortable and the pillows very thin and also uncomfortable. Plus WiFi is terrible.
Everywhere was lovely and the contrast between old buildings and and new was really nice. Everyone was so welcoming.
The only thing I would change is the tv’s something more of a smart tv so you can connect to more Chanel’s etc

My wife and I received a Christmas present from our son and daughter in law, which was a Groupon for 2 nights bed and breakfast and visit to the birds of prey centre. On arrival (18 Feb) we were informed by the receptionist that the visit to the birds of prey was a separate Groupon arrangement, but nevertheless we would receive a complimentary bottle of wine when we had dinner that evening. After dinner the house manager disputed this and said that the receptionist hadn't the authority to do that. He left to speak to her and we followed. There was a heated discussion where the receptionist denied that a conversation re a complimentary bottle of wine had ever been discussed. i said that she was telling lies , was a liar and was being ageist. I asked the house manager to sit down in a seating area and discuss the disagreement in a calm manner. His attitude was condescending, and with little conversation he left, stating at some distance that we would be leaving in the morning.
Whilst waiting in the dining room for breakfast, the hotel manager stated that the hotel policy is "zero tolerance", we would not be served breakfast and had to check out. We left the hotel at 11am. This is an appalling demonstration of gross mismanagement, lies and coverup by the hotel manager and receptionist. Note that previous negative reviews have been responded to with glib and unprofessional comments.
Having found Burn Hall Hotel by accident several years ago, we have stayed there many times since and have never been disappointed. Set in lovely grounds, the hotel mixes the traditional parts of the building with a modern decor. Rooms are clean, comfortable and quiet. Two things above all else though are what sets this hotel apart - the friendly, yet professional staff and the outstanding restaurant. The food and the service are always outstanding. The restaurant is high-quality, without feeling stuffy and pretentious.
If you are visiting York, Burn Hall Hotel is about 10-15 minutes drive from the nearest Park and Ride, meaning that you can spend a full day in York without worrying about parking, then be back at the hotel soon after arriving back off the bus.
The Bird of Prey center is a short walk from Burn Hall Hotel and is well worth a visit.
Clean, friendly and helpful staff, lovely restaurant with great food. Good facilities, value for money
Bit out of the way, car or taxi required to get around nearby villages/ towns. Not on a bus route
The staff were amazing
