Clean and friendly
Superb hotel, very good facilities, breakfast and dinner in “Lakeside” were both excellent (considering we have 1 vegetarian that struggled with food everywhere in Japan). Staff were very nice and prepared something very good for her
I’s quiet and far from everything (we liked this). We wanted to stay longer 🙏🏼
Location
Unable to go to the Japanese restaurant: it was fully booked. Rooms are a bit outdated, need refreshments
Great setting. Onsen very good. Courtesy and shuttle buses good and efficient. Individual attention from staff excellent.
Meals overpriced. Decor dated. Worn carpets. No free milk, tea or coffee in the room. Meals repetitive and overpriced. Keep your receipts, as front desk tried to charge us twice for breakfast, which we eventually got overturned when we returned to bin and found receipt in bin.
Generally, could be a great hotel, but overall management seems lacking.
Beautiful hotel, not as dated as people suggest. It was thematic, next to the lake and as it was very foggy, gave a wonderful mystical vibe to our stay.
The location was really awkward for visiting the Hakone loop. Easy to get there, more difficult to get back! And taxis when the weather is poor, not easy to arrange.
Also the buffet dinner was nice but expensive compared to other Japan restaurants.
The lake setting . Large comfortable rooms either a few free amenities. Dinner Buffet was very good .
I would have like more options for the food in the. Breakfast buffet
Great view
Convenient location at the base of the cable car. Boat stop as well. With small shops, restaurants ( only lunch), small aquarium and zoo. Nice walks around
Nice onsen ( no tatoos )
Very nice staff
Convenient bus to and from Odawara station
You’re basically forced to eat there in the evening ( unless you have a car ). 3 restaurants- very expensive ( french, japanese or buffet ) - we took the buffet - feels like an all-inclusive buffet for tourists
Ok for 1 night
General: We arrived in early April. The weather on the first day was fine but the second day it was cloudy and rained a lot of the day so if your time is short and you want to see Mt Fuji you may well be disappointed. Also on the second day the weather closed the "Pirate Ship" and ropeways so you may be left with little to do.
Hotel: Nice sized room and generally clean but the room was looking old - carpet stained and ripped in places. Also our balcony overlooked the refuse collection area rather than the advertised "lake view".
On the first night we eat in the buffet which was expensive and generally of poor quality.
On the second night we were told all the restaurants were fully booked (unless we wanted to eat at 5.30pm) and would have order room service. It should be noted that there are no other restaurants within two to three miles of the hotel.
Location of Hotel: probably its weakest point. It was isolated and without a car one has to rely on public transportation which only starts at 10.30am and closes at about 6.00pm BUT even within in these times the service is infrequent and erratic (sometimes running only every two hours).
Conclusion: if you an independent traveller it is probably best to avoid this hotel.
