Helpful friendly staff. Comfortable and clean room. Good breakfast.
The accommodation provided for this stay met expectations. The room was significantly larger as an accessible room. I was not informed of this on check-in, but I can’t see a reason why a larger room would not be a positive. It featured a large kitchenette and bathroom. The layout was not thought through well, with a TV barely visible from the bed, hidden behind the edge of a curtain. The small dining area and lounge seating sat between the kitchenette and bed, with storage closer to the kitchenette. Some separation would be welcome here to lend a more comfortable feeling to the room. There was no air conditioning in the room, which left the room feeling hot and humid.
We had to wait an hour for our room as it was not ready when we arrived way past check-in time. We were given a drinks voucher which we did not use as we had a toddler with us who didn’t want to be sat down whilst we were drinking. We had booked a suite room to celebrate my birthday, so had spent more money than an average room.
When we got to the room there was no travel cot or extra towels for our toddler, only a very small bottle of milk so not enough for our stay. The room had been clearly rushed whilst cleaning as the bed was poorly made and there was toilet tissue still on the bathroom floor.
We have stayed here quite a few times over the past 10 years and have never experienced a stay like this before. The reception staff didn’t really care because they had offered us a drinks voucher and to them that made everything okay! we were very disappointed this time.
Excellent stay at the De Vere Cotswold Water Park. We love the location. We have stayed quite a few times. On this occasion we brought along our elderly parent. Their room was excellent. So close to all the amenities.
The atmosphere at the hotel is luxurious without feeling stuffy.
Will stay again.
Me and my partner had a wonderful time. Room was fantastic with a superb view. Very relaxing. All round service was great. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a weekend in the Cotswolds. We will be visiting again.
Superb surroundings, friendly and helpful staff, exceptionally clean.
The rooms are rather basic for the price bracket, noise travels between rooms.
Breakfast very good
We’ve just spent 3 nights here with our dog and would happily recommend it and return in the future. We stayed in a studio apartment which was very spacious, even with our large dog. We felt welcomed straight away, and the lady on reception was very helpful and made sure we had a dog bed and bowls in our room.
We went to a local pub called The Old George Inn for dinner one evening, which was a 5-minute drive away, and it was gorgeous. We highly recommend! It is also very dog friendly.
The only negatives were that the bed was quite uncomfortable and the pillows were very flat. The shower head sprayed everywhere, and the drinks at the hotel bar and lounge were very expensive!
However, the negatives weren’t bad enough to stop us from staying again. It worked out perfectly with our dog, and there are lovely walks right on the doorstep. It’s close enough to all the locations we wanted to visit.
I booked 3 rooms for a family gathering for our Golden Wedding Anniversary. The 2 family rooms I booked were fine - ours was like a cell with a very small window, small bed and nothing to commend it. I booked direct rather than through an agent and advised them it was a special occasion. To be allocated such an awful room was extremely disappointing - I've stayed in better Travel Lodges! We ate in the Brasserie where the food was overpriced and average. Breakfast was the only saving grace. I complained on checkout and asked a manager to get in touch - I've heard nothing so they don't even care that they spoilt our special day. You should avoid this place if your occasion matters.
We had a beautiful weekend here and the sun was shining which made it even better. I so wish I could give this hotel 5 stars, staff were friendly, check in & out were seamless, plenty of facilities, helpful maps dotted around and a gorgeous location! So many positives and I really do rate these lovely aspects. That said, you can hear everything from other people’s rooms! We were in room 504, we could hear next door’s alarm, every text coming through, doors shutting, people talking etc, it made our room the least tranquil part of the stay. Cleanliness could also be kicked up a notch as there was dust and unclean cushions. Despite these two issues, I would come here again, the location is fabulous if you’re looking for a serene stay somewhere.
Had a fantastic time at derverve hotel cotswolds for my wife's birthday great food at the boathouse staff were welcoming even upgraded our room to a lake view free of charge a good Experiance all round
Beautiful hotel, very clean, very welcoming.
What a true waste of money, for £150 a night you will NOT get…
Breakfast
Pool/ gym access
A bath that works
Aircon
Comfy beds or pillows
Paper thin walls so you can hear any other door that opens in the corridor
An absolutely terrible experience and when a staff member asked how our stay was we said terrible and their only words were ‘oh dear’ nothing to apologise, make amends or just any level of customer service. Save your money as anywhere else in the area will provide better service, quality and so much more! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!
Had dinner at the old boat house and drinks in the hotel.
The staff in the lounge bar were very accommodating and made lovely negronis for me (even though they weren’t on the list) and my better half really enjoyed her cocktails- beautifully made!
Thank you to Sam and the bar staff who have helped to mar our evening (away from the kids) relaxed and lots of fun.
First time I have visited but I will definitely be back. It is a stunning hotel in a stunning location. Also great value for money.
Went back to the De Vere hotel which we have been numerous times, very happy with the stay and the service we received, we are going back next month for a few nights
Well what can you say about this hotel. It was awful!! Firstly they offered us an upgrade for an extra £30 a night and the receptionist said it was a lovely room with views of the lake. To be honest we did not really have a view of the lake and felt that we had been ripped off as half of the room either a damage or paint damage. Secondly, when we've stayed in other hotels and gone out for the day we've always came back to made beds, fresh cups and fresh tea and coffee supplies. The 2 full days we were here, not once had someone come in and replenished any supplies, even to the point where my partner had to go and ask for toilet roll!! Thirdly, they do not tell you in advance that only one restaurant is open and that the other is only open on selected days. It's very disappointing as you are stuck for choice between the boat house and the bar. In all fairness the food side was good but unfortunately the room and the hotel let these sides down big time!!
Excellent location calm atmosphere our room was spacious and bright over looking the lake
Booked a spa day here for two people. Originally they had us booked for afternoon tea at separate times which they did resolve but when booking as a two you would expect to automatically be eating together. The afternoon tea itself was ok but nothing amazing and I would say the customer service was lacking, nobody very friendly. Spa treatments were lovely however both were 50 minutes, mine was around 45 minutes and my friend managed to somehow get about 1 hour 5 minutes treatment time. Afterwards we then went to use the pool facilities, the pool was freezing and a lot of other guests also made the same comment, experiences on the pool side weren’t fantastic and just mediocre. Probably won’t return back in a hurry. Upon leaving two staff were stood chatting, again no customer service, nobody to say bye or thanks or enjoy the rest of your day.
My wife and I stayed for a relaxing weekend away. The room was basic, a bit tired but clean. The buffet breakfast was good with plenty of choice. We like to use the fitness and spa facilities, but we were disappointed. The gym, whilst well equipped, was far too hot to exercise and needs air conditioning. The gym is directly above the pool, so is very humid. The pool water was too cold for a spa pool so felt uncomfortable. I pointed this out to hotel reception but they quipped, at least they balance each other out. Unhelpful.
Loved that the receptionist set the tone right away even if the pool tried to humble us with the cold water. Enjoyed the massage. It was a little busy probably because it's on a weekend.
Then we head down for the Afternoon Tea, the private room for the six of us was such a nice touch!
Big props to John (at the Brasserie) for going the extra mile — and for all the staff at the bar/restau. Thank you!
