Very disappointing
Pros:

We stayed there at the start of January when the (daytime) temperature was hovering around 0. The heating wasn't working and the staff on reception couldn't give a toss. It was fairly obvious it was an ongoing issue as no one seemed surprised. They were full so couldn't move us and did get us a couple of portable heaters at the third time of asking, but an apology at least would have been nice. Also warned them we'd be back late, we had key cards anyway and they said the reception was manned but the cards didn't work and we couldn't rouse anyone from reception for a good 10 minutes.

Lovely Hotel!
Pros:

We spent our honeymoon at this absolutely lovely hotel. Room was comfortable and the breakfast each morning was divine. Staff were warm and friendly and the secure car parking at the hotel’s rear made arrival and departure easy.

Minster hotel York
Pros:

The Minster hotel is well located only 5-10 minutes walk from the Minster. The staff are friendly and helpful with useful local knowledge. The room we had was well appointed. The breakfast is varied and well presented, if you enjoy a cooked breakfast it is very good.

Business Conference Trip
Pros:

Business conference trip taking place at hotel.

Warm welcome on arrival and once checked in (too early to access room), case taken to be put in room.

Room was nice and spacious, very comfortable bed and great view of York Minister. Good shower facilities.

Dined on the evening at the hotel, food was 5* (everyone dining enjoyed their meals and drinks). The same again at breakfast, good range and excellent quality.

Check out smooth and quick. Would definitely return for both business and personal travel.

The only place for us when we come to York
Pros:

Stayed for one night, can't believe we haven't stayed here before. This hotel is such a nice place with Top staff. The room we have is the one we are going to ask for every time we come which is number nine. Breakfast in the morning is a must have. You will not regret it. This is the place for us when we come to York.
Thanks to all of you

Fantastic stay
Pros:

My partner and I stayed at the Minster mid week for 2 nights. Excellent secure parking facilities round the back of the property. We booked with booking.com so had to pay £20 to park. If you book direct with the hotel it's free. Very friendly receptionist made us feel very welcome. We were in room 27 which had being refurbished to high standard. The bed was super king-size and really comfortable. Lovely bathroom and shower and heated radiators. The breakfast was fantastic a varied choice of food. The staff who served were polite friendly and extremely professional. The hotel is 7 minutes walk from central York. We would definitely stay again.

Exceptionally friendly team, spacious family room, ideal location
Pros:

Extremely impressed by all the team at the Minster Hotel. So friendly and welcoming in reception, the bar and at breakfast. Nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast choice and quality was superb. The hotel is ideally located for a short walk into York centre and on site parking is an added bonus. Our family room was spacious, really nicely decorated and had everything we needed. Very reasonably priced. Would definitely book again if we return to York.

We'll be back
Pros:

Just got back from a 3 night stay at the wonderful Minster Hotel. Our 4th stay here. The staff makes this place so special. The friendly approach with a "nothing is too much trouble" feel makes it a pleasant stay. Plenty of choice for breakfast whether its cooked or continential. The location of the hotel is excellent with just a short stroll into the centre. Parking a bonus too. Just to note if you book your stay through a third party, parking is extra at 10.00 per night which is a bargain really to park in York. Book with them direct and its free. This is clearly displayed on their website so there are no hidden charges. If you are looking for something high end like a 5 star hotel, this isn't it and it doesn't claim to be, however, if your looking for friendly staff, comfortable clean and spacious rooms, excellent breakfast, secure parking and close to centre, I recommend The Minster Hotel. We'll definately be back.

Wonderful friendly hotel
Pros:

The hotel is perfectly located for York centre and many attractions. All of the staff were very professional, friendly, who treated us as though we wee regulars even though it was our first time. The breakfast was first class, giving a variety of hot breakfasts a full continental along with fruit yoghurts etc. along with a very friendly excellent service, with a big thank you to the chef for dealing well to my precipice breakfast requests.
As I requested a ground floor room with easy access, we stayed in one of the annex rooms, which are accessed by a covered walkway (no steps). The room was large with a huge bed, huge TV, plenty hanging and storage space, with tea and coffee and biscuits. There was lots of local information on the desk in the room. The large bathroom with accessible shower, the only downside is the height and position of the shampoo etc in the shower cubical.
Over all the room was exceptionally clean, with very soft towels, plenty of pillows, a comfortable bed, and two chairs to relax in. As a legacy of Covid and for enhanced hygiene staff will only entre your bed room during your stay at your request. As we stayed more than one night the tea/coffee facilities along with an additional toilet roll were refreshed in a bag hung on the outside of the room door each day. What a great idea, to prevent potential spread of any bugs, and maintains absolute privacy during your stay.
Over all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel to others.

Excellent Location, good value for money
Pros:

1st time staying here, location is excellent & having a car park is ideal (its tight to get into). Staff were helpful & provided lots of information. Room was a good size as was bathroom but both were in need of some tlc & be a bit more modern, but that could just be my taste, everything was clean. We were on the front so I found the road quite noisy.
The breakfast was lovely & loved that it was waiter service as again the staff were so nice. Lots of choice as well.
I would stay again if i could request a room not on the front.

Another Great Stay
Pros:

Just returned from a long weekend at The Minster
Been many times and we can’t fault anything with our stay
Stopped in a family room, no. 32, and it was very comfy and clean with tea and coffee and biscuits topped up daily
The real point that has us coming back and back is the incredible friendly staff and nothing is too much for them to help
Until next time, thanks for another great weekend

Great place to stay
Pros:

Fifth stay at this lovely hotel and it did not disappoint. Staff are so welcoming and it’s nice to see the same staff year after year so it must be a nice place to work. We stayed in rooms 16 and 17 which are facing the car park and are modern, large and very clean. We’ve always managed to get a parking space. Breakfast is great with so much choice and friendly staff to take your order. All in all a great stay and we will definitely return next year. Always phone the hotel direct to get best room price.

Disappointed at standard for £200 a night
Pros:

Thinking I’ve been ripped off
Bedside table covered in stains, cracks in plaster above bed, shower glass filthy at bottom, bathroom bin all dented on top, bathroom floor grout badly stained. Top up of toilet roll, teabags hung in plastic bag on outside of door, REALLY?! for £200 a night ??
On the plus side, breakfast ok, staff friendly/smiley
Just expected a better standard of room for this amount of money 😢

Lovely hotel
Pros:

Room was very quiet and was very warm and cosy. Was very spacious and nicely decorated. Was very clean. They replenished the tea, coffee, milk and biscuits every day. Only problem was 52 steep steps up to the room and no lift. Suitcases up and down stairs was no fun. Short walk from York City centre.
