The Minster Hotel York

I had to travel to York at short notice for a minor family emergency. We found The York Minster offered one of the most reasonable rates and so booked that on the day.
From the moment I arrived I was made to feel really welcome, which as I was travelling alone was wonderful. The room was well equipped and very clean and comfortable. I had breakfast on both days which was a good quality but absolutely outshone by the lovely waiting staff. So helpful and friendly.
The location of the hotel can't really be beaten either. I had to walk to the hospital which was under 10 minutes away, and then in the evenings the city centre is of equal or less distance.
I noticed that parking is free if you book direct with the hotel. Wasn't relevant to me as I caught the train, but worth noting.
In all a wonderful stay despite the circumstances and I would like to thank all of the staff for making the hotel such a little gem.

a great hotel to stay. right in the centre of YORK. a short walk from the railway station. the hotel is close to the minster itself. plenty of pubs and resturants near by. the hotel breakfast only. clean smart. staff are great.

We have stayed here on numerous occasions , wouldn’t consider staying anywhere else. The rooms, breakfast are all first class. A special mention to the owner (Tony)who is always hands on at the hotel. We would like to say thank you all again for making this another enjoyable break

Friendly staff, lovely room and nice to be able to pop into the bar for a drink in the evening. Breakfast is super.

Secure cheap parking, breakfast was lovely as were the waiting staff. Room was clean tidy and spacious. Receptionist's we spoke to 3 different ones and all were friendly and welcoming
In an ideal spot very close to the Cathedral and the shambles.

We were very comfortable, excellent food

Positives: clean, bed was comfy enough but was rather warm. Excellent location to access everything. Negatives: lack of staff - no room service as such. They stick a little plastic bag outside your room with loo roll and a couple of teabags but - make your own bed and no bathroom cleaning. They claim people prefer it like that - wrong! Nothing by way of niceties in bathroom just wall mounted gel and shampoo. Whole place was tired.
No restaurant in the evening and just one person on who man’s reception, goes to the bar for drinks and anything else. Which brings us on to the bar…. Tiny choice with the only acceptable being Yellowtail pinot Grigio, I lie about it being acceptable but you don’t know it’s Yellowtail until it arrives. Later, tried for a cognac, they only had two measures and no spare bottle, no decent whiskey either. Very shabby! Breakfast was pretty unpleasant. Eggs scramble so dry they resemble packing material, this placed on toast which remained white, apparently having resisted the toaster.

Great location with easy walkable access to town. Clean and spacious room and pleasant and friendly staff.

Great location for our visit to York. So convenient for travel with the train nearby and a short walk into the historic area. Morning breakfast was average fair served by attentive, kind staff. It was a great way to start the day.
Staff was consistently polite and welcoming each and every time we left and arrived (we stayed for six days). Our room was unfortunately right above the carriage entrance of this older property, so noise was an issue from late night revelers but also other guests who passed by at all hours talking and laughing loudly. That may have just been for our room, but it was an issue.

Staff welcoming , friendly and helpful. Breakfast was really good, plenty of choice and cooked to perfection.

The staff were amazing and the accommodation was fantastic. We only stayed one night but would happily stay again when in town.

Only a few minutes walk from York Minster and the town centre but on a busy road with significant traffic noise. I was given a room in the basement with windows painted over and next to no natural light.However room was large and reasonably well appointed. Staff friendly and welcoming, good choice for breakfast.

You can leave luggage/bags with reception whilst waiting foto start your journey home
