Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Chester, VA

We booked 2 rooms because we are a family of 5 traveling with older children (23, 19, and 17). Regardless of their age, we would have liked to have adjoining rooms. Not only did that not happen, but we were on completely different floors (1st and 3rd). When we settled the kids in the first floor double queen room, the smell of smoke in the “non-smoking” room was overwhelming. Not only had it been smoked in, but several other guests were gathered just outside the exterior door at the end of the hallway smoking marijuana. The floor by the window was very wet and we don’t know why, so we just didn’t go over there. The bathroom was moldy and the bottom of the tub was flaking off. Our third floor king room with a sleeper was not much better. The sleeper sofa didn’t have any bedding (thank goodness we had a sleeping bag) and more guests were smoking on that hall as well because you could smell it through the door. None of the smoking slowed them down much though, because those who weren’t smoking were running up and down the hallways or talking loudly even after midnight. We endured the night and the rooms because we were exhausted, but by morning the smoke smell had the 1st floor kids sick and we packed and left without breakfast which looked like a small selection of scrambled eggs, mystery sausage, and some potatoes. It all fit into one chafing dish. The rooms didn’t cost an arm and a leg, but even at a reasonable price - this place was a disaster.

The hotel was over all good but I did notice the ice machine was working on the 3rd floor which was where I was staying you need to go down a floor for ice. But other than that it was ok

The room was missing basic amenities such as tissues and trash cans. The bedding was not neatly made, and the room appeared as though it had not been properly cleaned before our arrival.
We had informed the staff of our expected check-in time in advance. However, when we arrived, there was no staff available to assist us, and we had to wait for quite a while before anyone showed up.

Horribly filthy, infested with cockroaches, holes in ceiling and walls, no working ice machines, no working pool and was told will not open this year, no working tv. Still waiting on my refund and booking.com cannot get a response from hotel management and we had to go stay somewhere else so our suitcase wouldn’t get infested. This place needs to be reported and shut down
