The front desk staff and restaurant personnel were friendly and helpful, but this location is in need of an update.
Our room’s shower door was very difficult to slide and the large window shade did not operate correctly. The room had only one rolling desk chair for seating.

The front desk reception ladies were extremely rude when I was trying to check-in and assigned me a room that was dirty and noisy with loud heater and air conditioning fans that cannot be turned off.
Starting 8pm, I could hear people next door snoring and talking loudly, toilet flushing loudly and people stomping their foot on the floor above. I complained to the front desk but was simply told that 'everyone snores'?!! It is unbelievable how thin the wall is.
I was very upset and had to pack up and left a couple hours after I checked in on the same day. I had to look for a decent hotel somewhere else. There is simply no way I could get any rest in this hotel!
I went to the reception to request for cancellation and refund for the entire bad experience few hours stay I had there. I was simply told that they can only offer to change a room for me but cannot cancel it. Will changing a room ever help when all the walls in the entire complex are so thin?!
Or are they trying to say some rooms have thicker walls??!!
I requested to talk to the manager but was simply told the manager will reach out to me in the morning. No one called me the next day and when I tried calling them, the lady at the reception told me the manager is busy and asked me to email their assistant manager!! I tried calling several times again but Angela, the hotel manager still refused to speak to me!! What kind of customer service attitude is this?
I really cannot believe this is Hilton. And what kind of Hilton is this in a prestigious like Del Mar, California?!!
For goodness sake - Hilton, please have some sense of decency and integrity with your business at Hilton Garden Inn San Diego Del Mar.

service was pathetic. No one came to clean the room and always we have to ask for the towels.

I was told that the frequency of room cleaning is every other day. But for the last 4 days of our 9 day stay it was never cleaned. We called but was told that the schedule was full.
I stayed at Hilton Garden Inn San Diego-Del Mar for almost a week. I had a great tike there and every night when I was coming back to the hotel Tina made me feel so welcome and she was always smiling and asking about my day! I wish I come back here again soon!

Location was decent and sheets were clean.
Dirty, stained, and taped down carpets in our room. There was blue painters tape used to hold down our carpet where it was missing threshold trim to separate it from the entry tile. Large stained spots were seen on the room carpeting. There were dust bunnies clinging to the baseboards around the beds.
There was an overwhelming perfume room deodorizing smell when we walked into the lobby each time.
The front desk lady Tina was really careful and sensitive to may needs by the time I got at the hotel! That was spectacular!

Coffee maker didn’t work and one of the beds mattress was not very comfortable which made it hard to sleep through the night :(
The property and the area around the property was safe. Very convenient to the freeways and to get out venue. There were plenty of good eating places not too far away and it was close to beach areas if we wanted to venture to them!
Only downside was not good breakfast options.
