This place was amazing. The staff were great. Loved the specialized attention that was provided. It felt like you were coming home to family every night. Loved the wine and appetizers, free full breakfast every morning, nothing was lacking. Liked it was a way from the noise of all the tourist. We will be back. Don’t waste your money on any other place.
The staff was unbelievable especially Diane, Kevin, Fiona, and in the restaurant I think it was Laura and Jenifer. We will definitely be back what a fabulous place and the food was amazing. Best shrimp, and grits we ever had for breakfast.???
Dinner in the restaurant was amazing. We had the grouper and the steak and both were wonderful. The room was beautiful. Love the turn down service. Enjoyed the wine and hors d’oeuvres at 5 o’clock.
What a beautiful hotel! It was like taking a luxury trip back in time with the antique furnishings, gas fireplaces and curving staircase. Our room was large and very comfortable - extra pillows and towels were provided quickly. And the copula is a great spot to enjoy a glass of wine and watch the sunset (or sunrise!). Breakfast was a wonderful surprise! Fresh pastries, fruit and a variety of menu options. I highly recommend splurging on a stay at the Mansion!
This was a wonderful stay. We enjoyed every minute.
Absolutely lovely hotel and a delightful, gracious staff. We felt transported to another time. The antiques and the common areas were stunning. The staff also worked tirelessly to make everything perfect - including the food. The view from the Cupola provided perspective on Charleston architecture in a way that would have been hard to see otherwise. We will be back and will likely try a different room. Ours was on the first floor and we think we might enjoy a higher floor even better. Thank you to Kevin, Will and Fiona and the chefs & wait staff behind the scenes for your hard work.
What a wonderful and beautiful place to stay. My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary here and it couldn’t have been nicer. Not only was the staff amazing but every detail was taken care of. We were treated like royalty. Champagne in the room , fresh flowers, beautiful notes signed by the staff, candy and bed turned down at night…. all the extras that you receive staying here such as wine and
hors d’oeuvres in the afternoon, Coffee and pastries in the morning, complimentary breakfast in the restaurant and the list goes on. This was our first stay at this location, but having visited Charleston on numerous occasions, it will certainly not be our last. The concierge Will and the Bellman Aiden were so nice as well as Jennifer in the restaurant.
The Wentworth Mansion is an amazing small historic hotel. Walking around the mansion you see a part of the history of the house. In guest rooms you have the wonderful old house with hardwood floor cracking sound that holds tons of history. The gardens are beautiful and well kept.
What sets this place apart though is the amazing service received by Kevin- It is clear how much Kevin cares about the Mansion and its guests.
I am so happy they are affiliated with Hilton Hotels now- This is a fantastic place to stay and explore.
Staying at the Wentworth Mansion felt like a dream…a good dream I didn’t want to wake up from. This mansion is magnificent. The architecture and craftsmanship are stunning. Our room was so cozy and big with gorgeous antiques, a huge whirlpool tub and even a fireplace. We stayed in a garden room and it was fantastic in every way. The morning pastries were beyond our expectations. Fresh banana bread and sweet treats tied us over until we had the best southern breakfasts ever at the onsite restaurant. What makes this property stand out (besides its historic beauty) was the staff. We left feeling like concierge Will and assistant innkeeper Kevin were new friends. I know it’s their job to be hospitable, but our in depth conversations felt so genuine we just had the best time chatting with them. They both went out of their way to help us find the location of a picture we took in Charleston 27 years ago. Their enthusiasm at the picture we recreated made us feel so good. Owen, Christian and Mark were the best bellman ever and our car was well taken care of in their hands. Anastasia was our breakfast waitress 2 mornings and she was just lovely. We really enjoyed chatting with her. Every single person that we came in contact with on this stunning property made us feel so welcome. We WILL be back.
I took my wife for her 70th Birthday, our stay was unforgettable and unbelievable! The Wentworth Mansion thought of every tiny Detail. A lot of Bang for your buck. And there are not enough words to describe the level of service.
They had a bottle of champagne in the room when we arrived, wishing my wife Happy Birthday. So thoughtful.
Watson was extremely efficient. We plan on going back, the next time we are in the Charleston area.
From check-in to checkout, the experience is superlative with the historic facility being spotless, the staff happily going above and beyond and our room was fantastic. We have been to the Wentworth several times with different levels of room and all are marvelous.
As highlighted by others the breakfast at the adjacent Circa 1886 is phenomenal and DO yourself a favor and visit Circa 1886 for dinner… you will not be disappointed.
A glorious lodging experience.
We visit Charleston at least once a year and this property is
After midnight on the day we were checking out, I saw a crawling object on the floor of the bathroom. I put lights on it and from the pictures I believe it’s an American roach, also known as a Palmetto Bug. With difficulty, I got some more sleep. I asked for nothing from management because I just wanted to leave. I’ve attached pictures, including ones that show the insect and that identify the room. The hotel’s logo is on the picture of the whirlpool tub.
The Wentworth Mansion is a spectacular, indulgent and thoroughly enjoyable place to stay in Charleston. The entire staff were welcoming and helpful. Whether you want to be transported to the late 1800's or simply want a convenient location in the historic area of Charleston, the Wentworth Mansion will not disappoint you. Complementary wine and hors d'oeuvres in the afternoon, a fabulous breakfast and sherry or port in the evening. The meal we had at Circa 1886 (on site) was one of the most memorable meals we have ever had - truly memorable.
We absolutely loved our stay and wished we could have stayed longer. The mansion is beautiful with so much history and our room was very comfortable and surprisingly quiet. The bath was wonderful especially with a fireplace right there. We ate at the restaurant which was incredible- had the two tasting menus which was so fun and highly recommended. Parking is a breeze. But would have to say the best part was the lovely gentleman that checked us in as he’s a gem! Would highly recommend staying at the Wentworth Mansion and we will definitely be back hopefully for a longer stay!!!
We visited the Wentworth Mansion for the first time in December 2024. We have been visiting Charleston for over 20yrs, and will say, the stay was absolutely AMAZING and the best location we have stayed at yet on our trips!!! The service from Bryan, one of the Concierges, was 1st Class our entire trip! I cant say enough about Kyle, as he assisted us throughout our stay!! The property, our room, the restaurant, the views from the top of the hotel, all were AMAZING and we will definitely be booking a stay there again in the near future!! The property was only a short 15min walk from all of the action in Historic Charleston!! Well worth every penny spent!!!!
Thank You Bryan and Kyle!!!
We had an incredible stay at the mansion. It was our first time, just a short 3 night, babymoon. Bryan, the concierge, was one of the shining lights of the trip. His knowledge, decorum, kindness, and genuine passion for history and this city was obvious and so enjoyable to chat with. My wife and I don’t typically go to the same place twice but would absolutely come back here. It was peaceful, clean, the food and amenities were excellent, luxurious, and if there’s anything you need, they’re ready to help at a moment’s notice.
we stayed at the Wentworth during the snow storm when the whole city shut down in the airport closed. Christian and Brian were so welcoming, and even upgraded our rooms unexpectedly.
We were able to stay in rooms well past check out, the final day, to make sure our flight was a go before leaving in the snow.
Kevin was instrumental making sure we were comfortable with exceptional great service. He checked which restaurants were open and showed us safe ways to navigate the property with all the snow.
We sat near the fire talking with the other guests for happy hour with yummy food and wine. Morning at the carriage house for breakfast was so elegant. My room had a fireplace and the housekeeping was so good, even with short staff.
When we left we felt we were leaving our Charleston family, and Kevin even checked the next day that we got home safely.
Excellent amenities in a curated space that is both functional and luxurious for even the most discriminating of travelers. I enjoyed the accommodations, but the complementary breakfast at 1886 was a great experience by itself. The staff is top tier in providing hospitality.
The staff were fantastic as was the mansion. The mansion is truly one-of-a-kind. Built over 100 years ago and still almost entirely original. The carved wooden detail throughout, carved marble fireplaces and stained glass were exquisite. The staff, especially Bryan, were engaging and knew the history of the mansion's details inside and out. They also provided wonderfully informed suggestions for activities and sights around the Charleston area (such as the best plantations to visit) as well as places to eat. We loved the early morning coffee/tea with croissants that were available before we headed over to the carriage house for an amazing breakfast. If available, try the raspberry/peanut butter croissants. Surprisingly delicious! Afternoon wine and appetizers were also delightful. And we often enjoyed a bit of complementary port after returning from dinner in town. We dined one evening at the onsite restaurant, Circa 1886, which was very good, not rushed, and the staff was excellent. Our room was the former mens billiard room at the top of the mansion.
Lots of room, sumptuous bedding, and just down the hall from the cupola with inside and outside 360 views of Charlestown. Staying just a bit outside of the bustling downtown was a good decision. The walk into town was well lit, safe, and a nice distance for a walk post-dinner, away from the crowds and noise of a busier section of downtown. Overall, a wonderful stay and we'd definitely stay here again when we are in town.
yes-the Wentworth might be a bit than other places in Charleston BUT you get so much more for your money!! my brother recommended the Wentworth and he was spot on!! we made our way around town a bit but i couldn't wait to get back to the Mansion. we loved the common rooms, our bedroom and balcony, the restaurant and bar, the gardens and of course the staff. my wife and I will return! tks
We once again visited the Wentworth for Thanksgiving. As always, everything about our stay was excellent. The accommodations and staff make this hotel feel like a (very, very nice) home away from home. The working fireplace and the jacuzzi tub make the rooms so special. We also enjoy the wine and appetizers every evening. We have met some very nice people who also enjoy the Wentworth.
We were there earlier this year to celebrate Valentine’s Day, and later, a birthday. We look forward to our next stay.
