Comfortable rooms, very comfortable bed, lovely location. delicious meal in the evening in the Arden room.
Shower dripped and I forgot to tell the manager
The location for meeting up with family
That the spa was booked out for a private function and we were not informed on checkin
The staff were amazing, the check in was quick and easy, Ian made the experience smooth and delightful. Afternoon tea fantastic!
The Clifton Suite was exceptionally clean, today and a great place to relax.
The evening dinner was quite mind blowing, we had the sea bass and the chicken which were by far some of the best food we have ever tasted.
There was a lovely smell upon entering the hotel which I presume came from the spa. There was plenty of available parking spaces and the bed was comfortable. Quite a good choice at the buffet style breakfast. Nice to have the choice of uncut bread.
The setting on the toaster was a little high which resulted in my husbands toast being a bit overdone both mornings and the orange juice seemed like it had been watered down. The hotel itself was in a nice peaceful location, but access into Windsor had no real option other than to drive and parking in Windsor is pretty expensive. Neither of these are the fault of the hotel, but it doesn’t make this location ideal if visiting Windsor is the main purpose for your visit.
breakfast wel made
all good
Lovely period property . Parking good , great that there was an electric charger installed. Staff very polite and helpful. Breakfast had a great choice of food both continental and cooked. Room was ok but lacked the character of the downstairs rooms. Bottled water replaced each day .
Road leading to the property is very narrow and has many potholes. Room was on the small side but ok for our needs. The socket for heated towel rail was loose and had a gap all the way round that needed to have silicone so seal it. The immediate view from the bedroom window overlooked a roof on a room below but could see the horses and fields in the local farm beyond that. The tea tray had a basic choice, no hot chocolate for none tea/coffee drinker but did get a bottle of water instead.
Room was clean and tidy, sofa bed was made up ready.
The property was nice but was very small for a family. It was also directly opposite a terrace where an event was taking place so it wasn’t easy getting the children to sleep.
Beautifully decorated. Some exceptional people work there. Near Windsor
No spa treatments available. Too hot to sleep
A beautiful location and historic building with nice interiors
Breakfast was good and the breakfast manager was nice
Comfortable mattress
Early check in
It was obvious that not a single staff member enjoyed working there (except for the breakfast manager) - they were either stressed or annoyed.
While guest parking is included, there was none available for us as they had a big event on. We were forced to park in a disabled spot, much to the annoyance of reception.
Spa facilities aren't included in the price, even though someone from the hotel stated that they were in the FAQs. Price wasn't warranted, as the spa facilities were underwhelming, forgotten, and felt a bit eerie and dark. No mood lighting, calming music or nice places to relax.
Our door battery died, which was handled terribly. When flagged with reception, an annoyed staff member opened our door with a key and said she won't fix it until the next day, so we'd have to go to reception every time we wanted to enter the room. I asked if they could please just fix the door after which she responded that they would need to be in the room. (The right way to handle this would be to apologise for the inconvenience, send the guest down for a complimentary drink at the bar and then fix the door right away). We told them we'd tell them when we leave, however at one point a staff member just walked into the room while we were just out of the shower, which was a bit odd.
The Aperol Spritz was the most expensive cocktail on the menu at £16.75, which is absolute madness. The bartender, probably one of the most miserable employees in the hotel, made our cocktails, exchanged 1-2 words with us and made everyone ordering a drink feel like an inconvenience.
The room was very hot and stuffy, the fan didn't work properly, the water coolers in the hotel were always empty, and there were no plug sockets next to the bed.
A lot of this can be fixed by hiring better staff and treating them well.
We won't be back and we won't be recommending this hotel.
Hotel lovely
Having a family anniversary party of 19 which included 5 children so booked dinner for 6.30 and food not served until nearly eight of of my grandchildren only 3 and another who is 7 got her meal last after everybody that is so bad did complain and they gave me 20 of bill which including roome we had 6 cost me over £2500 not happy
Location
It needs a huge modernisation - the bedrooms and spa are ancient.
Service was poor due to being understaffed.
Breakfast is poor - old fashioned facilities, limited choice and poor service.
I have stayed a few times & I love the character rooms & the staff no matter what go above & beyond (IAN) being always @ the front of desk with the biggest smile & help …
Beautifully decorated immaculate inside & outside ie grounds & gardens & the spa is lovely for pampering & a treat …
Nothing at all
Everything the spa needs environmental health in there as there is loose slabs everywhere the first bedroom stunk of drainage so had to be moved rooms the water they supplied was out of date
