At LAST! A stunning, family hotel that treats you like the star guest that you always want to be. The staff without exception were delightful. Anything we needed was listened to properly (none of the"sorry, must get the phone" nonsense), and actioned upon.
From booking to spot on advice; from their whisky connoisseur's bottomless knowledge of whiskies in their world famous Quaich bar and outstanding service overall. If you are lucky enough to stay in one of the 26 most comfortable rooms a hotel has to offer, you will experience the famous Spey Inn, now hosting probably the most delicious dinner I have ever had in Scotland (still dreaming about the venison dish).
Finally, a visit to the Craigellachie is not complete without a wander by the River Spey, the Hylander for Japanese whiskies, or a short drive to the many distilleries, Walker shortbread, walks and swims. Craigellachie holds a special place in my heart. Thank you Piers Adam for bringing this special hotel back to life, and for having us to stay!
Authentic
Our 2-night visit exceeded our expectations.
All the staff we encountered, and we met many over our stay, were super-helpful.
We had a lovely surprise when we were told at reception that a bed and bowl and treats were already in our room for our dog (even though we'd brought our own, of course).
The food was great in the pub on our first night and, in the Gemair on our second night, we were delighted by the creativitiy and delicousness of the 7-course tasting menu. That was complemented by a thoughtful set of wine pairings, too.
... and of course, there's a terrific array of malts in the Quaich bar to finish things off.
The atmosphere is excellent, too, with convivial company with other guests: dogs help make introductions, of course, but other thigs do, too, such as friendly games of backgammon with strangers in the Quaich.
We enjoyed walks along the Speyside way, which is right next to the hotel. And Craigellachie is handy for visiting the wide array of attractions nearby in Moray.
We'd thorouhgly recommend it.
We really enjoyed our stay at Craiggellachie Hotel. The staff were very welcoming and the hotel is very dog friendly. We arrived quite late due to an accident en route but we were quickly helped inside and seated for dinner. Our dog was welcome everywhere and fussed by everyone and we enjoyed retreating back to the fire in the pub after some snowy walks. The whiskey bar was a great spot to relax at the end of the day too. Good location if you are looking to explore the area and off road parking.
We stayed for one night and unfortunately it was during a storm and the hotel/restaurant lost power. Hotel staff went above and beyond to ensure our stay was as comfortable as possible and the kitchen were able to provide all the residents with a cold evening meal. The hotel was full and the staff ensured that all the areas were lit by candles and we had a lovely evening talking to other residents as there was no phone signal or wifi due to the power outage. Power was back on in the morning and had a lovely breakfast.
