Amazing hotel with wonderful views
Pros:

Wonderful hotel. Bit dubious after reading some of the reviews but we found the hotel to be amazing . The room we booked was amazing wow sea & marina views, spacious, comfortable beds perfect. The location was brilliant 5 minutes or less to restaurants, wine bars etc. The breakfast views are stunning too & food & service were excellent. On top of this the hotel is very good value. I am unsure why anybody would give this hotel poor reviews but I would highly recommend.

Poor customer service
Pros:

Booked in as a member,so offered an upgrade sea room It was on the ground floor with hedging around outside There wasn’t an outside table and chairs, and although promised they-didn’t arrive We decided to take a book and sit on the terrace, the outside pool was closed and looks like it will not reopen While sitting on a chair reading my book ,the sun umbrella flew out when a gust of wind came and the pole hit me on top of my head .Fellow guests came to my assistance and advised me to report the isssue which I did The duty manager completed an accident form and removed the .sun umbrellas. We had booked dinner,a 3 course meal .The dessert was not eaten and the restaurant manager said he would not charge us however on-booking out the receptionist said because we had rebooked meal we couldn’t have a refund She called another duty manager who said I will speak to my senior manager about what’s happened.Needless to say customer service is non existent at this hotel ,as she offered us an upgrade on our next stay, which we get as members. We will not be returning to the Imperial Hotel Torquay

Top class, with efficient and friendly staff.
Pros:

My second visit to the Imperial, the previous was two years ago and I was very impressed with the place.
The last 18 months or so have not been too kind to me health wise and I was looking for a relaxing and comfortable stay and that is exactly what I got.
I was given a room on the fourth floor with a balcony overlooking the pool area and bay.The room was perfect, clean, tidy and very well set out including an iron and ironing board which saved the hassle of asking for them.
Had dinner in the restaurant twice and the menu was good, although not too extensive but good enough for my requirements. The service was quick, efficient and very friendly with excellent staff. The same can be said of breakfast service with buffet of Full English and Continental. There is also a coffee machine which provides a wide range of coffee types although you can ask for a pot of coffee or tea.
Bar service was excellent with an extensive range of drinks available and bar snacks and food menu if you don’t want dinner in the restaurant but alas no cocktails.Again the staff here were excellent and very efficient, although I did have to explain how to make a real Pink Gin, lol.
The front desk staff were also very efficient and friendly as were the cleaning and maintenance staff, nothing too much trouble.
The balcony of my room was out of bounds as I believe all on that level are due to “structural concerns”. The swimming pool is out of action and has been for a while I believe, not that I would have used it but the poolside terrace and loungers were totally empty during the day but am sure would have been packed in the excellent weather we have had of late. Repairing of this facility would be expensive I’m sure but the positives of having it back in action would be boundless and bar takings would obviously go through the roof.
This is what I call a traditional, old fashioned British hotel with charm, elegant style, exactly to my liking. One almost expects Hecule Poirot, Captain Hastings, Miss Marple and Dolly Bantry to walk in at any moment and partake in afternoon tea.
This is a very large hotel and maintenance of it is a constant, yes there are areas here and there which need attention , the pool and some room balconies for example but overall this is a high class hotel with great standards, superb staff and comfortable rooms.
My thanks to the General Manager and staff for looking after me and I look forward to my return.

Pros:

Car park was spot on , gave u 2 choices outside car park which is on roof or inside car park two different prices 20 pound for indoor parking and 10 pound per outdoor parking, fabulous room with a lovely view,, good choice of drinks from the bar,😁 , breakfast you have to get down early ish to get decent food otherwise you get the burnt end of it lol ,

Cons:

Bit basic ,very run down, need a lot of updating but other than that spot on outside swimming pool not working due to increase maintaining cost but it just swimming pool indoors with a jacuzzi, hotel food basic but you pay for what you get cheaper to go to town,

Pros:

Pros:

The staff were helpful, keen and attentive .

Cons:

The cooked breakfast was not nice... especially the mushrooms and hash browns. I couldn't enjoy it sorry to say so I left it. I did report it to reception. I was not the only person to pass disappointment comments on . With new hotels being built in torbay the Imperial doesn't come up to 4 star rating . Mvo. Sorry.
