Wife & I were returning from Houston to Virginia for medical trip. I booked the room on the app using some of our points, the balance we prepaid online. We stay a lot at Best Westerns & never had this amount of incompetence happen. We get there a couple hours after booking & the lady at front desk was clueless about our reservation. I had to give her my name three times, spelled it slowly. Finally I pulled out my email confirmation on my phone with reservation number. Had to give that to her a few times. She finally found it & said we'd already checked in. Obviously not, I was standing there. I asked her whose ID was given upon check in, & she never answered. A lady with two teens came in a few minutes later and she stopped them, said that was who she have our room to. We were finally put in another room in the back of the hotel (not recommended to be on back side). After we got settled in I checked our bank account to find the original charge plus $50 for possible damages (we expected this), but to find another charge for the room they put us in at full price plus $50! I waited till morning to see if it would get resolved with the day manager, but they were out of town. I asked for the manager or owner to call me but that never happened. The day clerk apologized numerous times but was unhelpful. After getting home I gave it a few days for the charge to be reversed and it never was. Here we sat with two charges for one room. I filed a dispute with our bank, and that went nowhere. I called Best Western corporate and they were very professional. They took my info, listened, then reached out to the hotel. The manager called me shortly after. I discussed our problem and express our displeasure in how our stay was handled, mentioned the details above, and the clerks incompetence & being poorly trained. Also her not checking the ID of who got our room. I don't think the lady with the two kids were the ones that got our room & suspect the night clerk was running a scam of selling our room for cash, but have no proof. Also being on the back of the hotel that backed up to a really cheap non franchise motel & having fun someone at 3-4 a.m. start up a loud truck, leave, come back, slam the truck door, repeatedly for an hour was not ideal even though they had no control of that. The manager said she had never been told by either clerk I wanted her to call us. I hope the night clerk was replaced. We never got our two free bottles of water plus 500 bonus points for checking in. The manager did offer to fix the second over charge. I asked her for a refund of what we paid for the difference in points and she did do that. It should have been a better stay like the mass majority of all other hotel stays at BW and other brands. It got financially fixed three weeks after our stay. The hotel & room was clean, & comfortable bed. The continental breakfast was very small.

Breakfast was good and the staff is pleasant, mattress and pillows felt great, clean rooms it was just noisy with the ice maker so close to our room and the hot water took awhile to heat up.

I honestly would have to sit and think of something to complain about. I'm not interested in doing that.
There was no one to check you in at the desk. Another employee repeatedly called for reception telling them there was a guest waiting. The employee that was calling for reception was working on the door. When reception finally came she apologized saying she had been in the bathroom. After getting my information she told me there was a $50 security deposit in case I broke a thing! This is ridiculous! I told reception I would find somewhere else to stay. The location did not look safe at all.
