Very peaceful and relaxing, strong WiFi and a good restaurant. Both dinner and breakfast items were delicious. Staff were pleasant and helpful.
This place felt a little abandoned-maybe it was just because this was a weekday stay but the property wasn’t very full so it seemed very quiet (no one at the bar, only 1-2 tables occupied in the restaurant). I think they could benefit from replacing some of the furniture (the desk chair in the room had a broken seat) and from refreshing some amenities around the property (bikes, a hammock, common area games).
Meals were very good and the staff service was excellent. also the ginger cookies at the front desk were a nice treat.
This place definitely deserves more than three stars. Beautiful location and unique, comfortable rooms. Beautiful grounds with abundant wildlife and friendly staff. I would definitely stay here again.
I have nothing negative to say about this place. Was very impressed.
We had a last minute booking and are grateful Black Orchid could take us. What a beautiful, peaceful property right along the river! We booked 3 rooms for our party of 10, and they were all in the garden view section. Our children enjoyed the grounds and watching wildlife. We heard howler monkeys but they didn't make their way all the way to the property. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The restaurant is nicely situated along the river, and the food was delicious. And everyone there was so friendly! This is a great place to stay if you are coming from or heading to the airport. We will certainly return next time we are in Belize.
Nothing!
Convenience and communication
NA
The location is pretty and rooms are clean.
The front desk team is not the nicest. The place is seriously overpriced. It’s located in a small village, there is no reason to charge that much for a small room without breakfast.
Just awesome.
Wonderful experience. Braxson took absolutely wonderful cre of us. Restaurant service was exceptional.
Looking forward to returning in a month
The staff is absolutely amazing!!!
Black Orchid feels like an extention of home. Good feel..good vibes...EXCELLENT FOOD. I really had a very pleasurable time.
Always beautiful , peaceful and very quiet it you love nature this is the place for you and privacy is great
Can’t find anything not to like
Not too far from the airport which was great after 2 days of travel, the room was comfortable and cool.. We loved seeing Howling Monkeys that came into the resort one evening. Next door was The Iguana Stop restaurant (only open weekends) which served great food. We loved visiting the baboon sanctuary near by (about 20 mins by car)
The staff were friendly enough.
There wasn't much in the area at all, which meant we felt we had to eat at the onside restaurant which was hugely overpriced and the food wasn't great. So we ventured to a supermarket (20 min drive by car) to grab some supplies, however, we were limited as there's no kitchen facilities in the room.
Our room was cool and comfortable, although there wasn't much natural light, so felt really dark. Beware of mosquitoes as its location is next to the river. My daughter ended up with tons of bites.
The area and the hotel overall is a bit run down and the pool was super murky, you couldn't see your feet on the bottom. The Internet was down so we couldn't research the area.
I don't think we'd return here unfortunately.
The staff is very kind and a pleasure to talk and visit with.
Everything!
Nothing
shuttle from airport was on time and can be arranged before arrival. The newer part of hotel was nice and clean and felt modern.
The portion size was small, food was ok
Very nice staff . Very cool to see howler monkeys daily. The housekeeping staff were very nice. Garden area was nice.
AC good in the rooms. I had a fridge but not all rooms did
It is quite far away from anything. A 20 min very hot walk to the nearest village to get food , beer etc..
Music at the pool bar was often loud and annoying.
Not a lot to do there . Food at the restaurant is marginal for taste and value
Food at the resort is very expensive as are drinks and there is not really many places to eat elsewhere
Nice, typically rustic Belize style resort. Everyone working there that we interacted with was friendly. Very few rooms occupied the two nights we were there (5 rooms the second night and less than that the first night it seemed), which was good in some ways but not great for the resort. It seems they don't use dynamic pricing because I would have stayed another night if the price wasn't so much higher for the Saturday night stay even though I was told they only had 10 rooms booked for Saturday. The restaurant was good--you pretty much have to eat there unless you want to drive a long way. It would have been nice if the server had told us at breakfast that each coffee refill was an additional charge so we could take that into consideration before asking for more. The Spa on the rooftop which looked like a nice place to relax didn't work but other than that everything was as expected and nice. One of the owners was often around and very friendly.
internet was problem
