Wonderful warm welcome!
Pros:

We had a lovely and exceptionally dog friendly stay at this hotel over the weekend. The room was nice, comfortable and clean, if a little warm, and they really extended a very warm welcome to our dog. Food was nice and the staff could not have been more pleasant. Grounds were lovely too. I imagine it’s absolutely gorgeous when the sun shines, which it didn’t for us!

Lovely stay at a very picturesque and historic hotel
Pros:

Lovely hotel just outside Dorking. Grounds were absolutely beautiful, even on a wet January day. We had a garden view room which was very nice. Bed comfortable and a good shower. We also had a dinner credit added to our package and the food was excellent in the main restaurant. Breakfast not quite so good (no croissants and lukewarm food) but it didn't take anything away from our stay.

My only comment would be the bar was chronically understaffed. We waited over 20 minutes for a drink in the afternoon. There were other staff hanging around but they seemed to ignore the queues and continued collecting and washing up glasses. And then in the evening our waiter had to apologise as our drinks arrived after our meal as the bar was 'very busy'. It could just be the time of the year but it wasn't great!

Excepttionally friendly, professional service, superb facilities and wonderful walks
Pros:

Just had a rather special birthday weekend at Wotton House in The Surrey Hills AONB. The building, gardens and facilities are superb, the dinner was lovely and the service exceptional. The duty manager Majeik was incredibly welcoming, professional and very human. He suggested and mapped some of the wonderful local walks (Leith Hill Tower highly recommended. We were treated like VIPs and The breakfast was probably the best we've ever had.

Great team.
Pros:

Stayed for my husband’s birthday and this was our second visit to Wotton House. Both stays were clean and comfortable and the staff are really friendly and welcoming. You have a great team there.
Really disappointed that the pool facilities were out of action. Husband has arthritis so he could not use the facilities as the pool was much too cold.
If we had been informed in advance I would have changed the date of the stay. It would have been better to have been informed. Not sure I’d take the risk of staying here again now having paid for a stay without full use of the facilities. Which is a shame as we thought we had found a place we both enjoyed and would return to.

Stopover from long haul flight
Pros:

Found this hotel by chance looking for a stopover after alanding in Gatwick before travelling back to the Midlands. What a little gem. Lucy greeted us on arrival and was very polite and helpful and made sure we were ok. Will definately book again but are looking to return for a weekend away with the dog. Its beautiful setting make it perfect for a relaxing time and plenty of walks for the dog. Thank you again for a wonderful stay

Few improvements needed
Pros:

Stayed here for an overnight stay in January. The hotel and surrounds are very nice. Upon arrival there was some scaffolding and building work which wasn’t an issue however, when we got inside the lift was completely out of order and so was the jacuzzi which would have been nice to know in advance before arrival. The facilities were a bit tired, rust on some of the gym equipment and just generally could do with a bit of modernising. Our room had a patch of damp across the ceiling and when we came out of our room in the morning there was a really strong smell of petrol in the hallway. Other than that very nice grounds and friendly receptionist (Annalisa).

Charming place needs to be managed better
Pros:

The hotel is a beautiful charming building at the countryside and personnel was trying to be helpful. However:
1. The fire alarm went on 3 times on 2 out of 3 nights I stayed. No announcement, nothing. The second night we did not bother to go out (which totally is a terrible reflex)
2. I tried to call Uber and waited for 30+ minuets apparently afterwards learned Uber does not come to the hotel. The front seat was aware that I was trying to get the uber, don’t understand why they did not intervene. (Afterward they arranged a nice private transfer when I asked)
3. I noticed I had forgotten my hairbrush, I asked room service being 100% sure they would at least have a comb. But they did not.
These are not very big things hope will be handled fast, as this really is a nice location to stay.

80th Birthday Tea Party
Pros:

We stayed at the hotel to attend our friends afternoon tea party to celebrate her 80th birthday. Which I must say went off very well! I believe it was enjoyed by all who attended. One small comment the sandwiches were a tad dry!
We went into the bar following the party, but a lack of staff and long wait for service spoilt the experience. But the company was excellent!
ROOMS
I booked two rooms for my daughter & son in law, myself and my wife.
The rooms were a little tiered, carpets stained, bathroom fan not working and toilet seat loose! A pet hate of mine!! Whoever the rooms were very clean and well stocked with tea & coffee.
LEISURE CLUB
We use the facilities before breakfast and we’re very impressed with the standard and cleanliness!
BREAKFAST
A very good choice offered but attention to detail was a let down. When requesting English breakfast tea bags, we were presented with one on a plate. Also on the continental bar the preserve dispensers were empty, when this was bought to the attention of staff was told we have run out of marmalade! Had to ask for the butter plate to be filled despite staff passing the table, not checking all was well stocked.
GENERAL
Overall a beautiful building with a wonderful history. Would stay again despite the few niggles which somewhat marred the stay experience.

Our Christmas stay was fantastic
Pros:

We had a 3 night stay from Christmas Eve and it was superb. All staff were great but I have to mention Joe and Daniel in the bar, Kevin who served, and Kristina on reception. However hats off to Chloe who we booked through and who checked and double checked our pre-orders to ensure everything was correct.
We took our dog and the grounds are lovely with plenty of walks close by. The fact that the whole hotel is dog friendly was a revelation. Some hotels are dog tolerant, this one is truly dog friendly. The welcome pack for us in our room was lovely but what you provide for the dog including a proper dog bed, treats and TWO dog bowls is fabulous.
Food and drinks were excellent and although Christmas Day lunch was a tad busy, it's understandable that you would want to be fully booked.
We stayed in a suite which was marvellous - a lovely room and an exceptional bathroom. Being constructive, I would suggest a separate full length mirror and another cupboard/wardrobe in the hall to provide more storage.
Virtually flawless stay, highly recommended. Thank you.
