The staff was so lovely. They were very welcoming and ready to take care of any of our needs. We loved the decor throughout the interior.
The place felt neglected. Our window was broken, the wood had fallen off and had black mould. Unfortunately we were there during a heatwave and our room felt like an oven. They tried with a fan but it just pushed hot air around. It was impossible to get comfortable. There was a very rowdy wedding crowd our first night. We saw left over dishes sitting everywhere on dirty tables. I believe the staff was having difficulty keeping up with the group. They crowded into the bar and we were unable to get a drink.
The second night was better as it was a calmer wedding group that stayed in their party area.
You can’t fault the staff, they were all working very hard.
Loved the building and the grounds. The swimming pool was a great treat and we were able to have the grand children come to swim. We were able to have our bikes put in a secure , inside area.
The staff were very friendly.
The wash hand basin in our bedroom did not drain very well. We asked twice for it to be fixed but it was not done
The view was amazing and , the staff was exceptional
Was woken up by the fire alarm at 5.50am. Also work was being carried out and drilling was starting just after 9am on both mornings,
On a side note, the location was spectacular. A beautiful historic manor in the English countryside, with elegant surroundings, its own vegetable garden and even its own honey production. A truly impressive setting.
Unfortunately, I was initially assigned a room with a defective window that could not be closed. The staff were very kind and promptly moved me to another room. However, this second room also turned out to have a faulty window, which in this case could not be opened.
Given the high temperatures and the lack of air conditioning, it was extremely difficult to sleep in such a hot and humid room. To make matters worse, the room was facing the suppliers' loading and unloading area, which was very noisy from early morning until late at night. As the room was not properly soundproofed, the constant noise significantly affected the quality of my stay.
I would also suggest removing the artificial plastic plants placed throughout some areas of the property, such as the ivy on the outdoor bar patio and the olive tree inside the restaurant. They feel quite out of place and contrast with the natural character and authentic atmosphere that the location otherwise aims to offer.
location is great for the surrey hills. Breakfast was good, and hotel room was quiet
the hotel is tired in places and needs refreshing , such as rooms need painting etc
Came for a 2 night stay to celebrate a milestone birthday and had a wonderful time.
Every single member of staff was helpful and cheerful, especially Kristina on the front desk who is the most incredible ambassador for the hotel. Lovely room, lovely grounds, immaculately clean
The pool area is a little dated
Ligging lekker rustig
The building, the staff, its location - in fact we loved the whole experience.
Nothing, absolutely loved the whole break
Free use of gym, spa and tennis courts for guests. Iced water dispensers and glasses round to use. Nice grounds.. Breakfast pretty average but at £16 was too expensive. Sparkling water in the room. Great old building.
Can only open the windows a tiny bit - I like fresh air.
Grounds and rooms
Restaurant menu was small with little choice. Breakfast buffet was limited. Kitchen needs to upgrade to a level befitting the location and building
Beautiful setting. Friendly and helpful staff. Delicious food. Dog friendly and so welcoming to both our dogs.
Size of room, spacious grounds & excellent staff
No aircon in bedroom
Excellent staff very friendly and helpful. The hotel and surrounding area is beautiful which is the highlight and the hotel itself has a very fancy vibe. They very kindly upgraded us to a bigger room and we were very grateful. Wonderful pool, jaccuzi, sauna and steam room. The highlight was most certainly the team working on reception - very friendly and welcoming.
Let downs - no air con and we stayed when it was 38 degrees, but the team provided us with an additional fan (they have Dyson fans in each room but they are not as good as the standard standing fan). The onsite restaurant was unfortunately terrible in terms of food and pricey for the quality. I would not go to the restaurant here - avoid at all costs! Nicer places locally (Monte Forte for pizza), and the breakfast is very average. I also think that housekeeping was okay but not perfect, especially as we stayed for 3 nights and the only cleaning done every day was making the bed quickly. Despite the small let downs, I would stay here again and would recommend it to family and friends given how beautiful the space is - just don't go to the restaurant!
