The property was located on a quiet private beach. I chose the property because of its location close to friends in Nanoose Bay.
The restaurant had been closed on the premises.
the beach, the grounds are well kept
our room was tired & old
bedroom sliding door would not lock
toilet/shower room smelled like sewage
hairdryer blew the back off & there was a broken plastic piece inside that made it go flaming hot - unplugged it & had to get s replacement handheld one (not sure if the staff ever check the equipment between guests)
it was definitely not worth the extra $450 we paid to upgrade from a studio to a kitchenette for 3 nights given that it was known this room had repairs planned & it should have been discounted
the facility looks old & tired, the restaurant is “permanently” closed
we continually had to reset/replace room keys due to smartphones with magnets - everyone has a smartphone & it was a waste of our time & energy while on vacation
we did not know when we booked it that the swimming pool is open to the public at large by membership & there is no exclusivity for guests
our patio & adjoining suite patio was not private & conversations were overheard - it was a deterrent to sitting out on the patio
another guest took her dog offleash to take dumps on the grass (2x that we know of) below us & walked away without picking it up
Location
Very noisy
Location fabulous
Been here several times before and it is starting to show its age They should have sign up sheets for kayak use
Beautiful grounds and outstanding location
no air conditioning or on site restaurant
Quiet, clean, fun
Location on the water and good sized room (although we did pay for it getting the 1 bed suite).
Outdated interior, which is different to the images shown on booking.com and my reservation. Clearly some rooms have been updated and some not. It was really poor on our last morning, before check out, that the one person with the key to open the men’s entrance to the pool could not be bothered to open it. It was then 45 mins late opening. Meaning I could t swim with my daughter (female entrance was opened but as there were no men waiting, the guy didn’t open it!). Total shambles. The place is clearly short staffed as well.
Location was great.
Brochure listed amenities that were available but:
(1) the hot tubs were not working during part of our stay,
(2) there were no badminton racquets,
(3) limited use of kayaks, paddle boards,
(4) basketball hoops but no basketballs
Clean bathrooms (bath tub, sink, and toilet was not clean) and the sink and tub needed the drains unclogged.
Quiet hours were not observed by neighboring guests. They kept us from sleeping 2 nights in a row. Reception acknowledged this but didn’t offer to move us to another area of the building when they knew the guests were disruptive to others.
Location
Definutely not worth the price. Nothing worked. Not clean. Noise terrible - can hear every word next door. No ice. Pool locked. Cheap coffee machine broke down twice. Paper cups. Not enough if anything. Small TV and no streaming available. No maid service. No instructions, guide or manual. Feels like this place is barely holding it together.
The beach area was wonderful. The Rusted Rake (nearby) was an excellent restaurant.
The rooms were underwhelming at best. The lack of air conditioning made the nights uncomfortable. We had to leave the doors open to try to get any sort of breeze into the sleeping areas. There was lots of noise in the evenings from the upstairs guests. Problems with the pools meant that our grandchildren were unable to swim on the 22nd of July. Although we were told the outdoor hot tub was open at the time it was not. There seemed to be a lack of communication between the front desk and the maintenance team. Quite frustrating to say the least.
We have returned to stay here three times because the location, spaciousness and beauty of the property and amenities. Everything seems very clean and well maintained and landscaping is beautiful.
Since there is no air conditioning in the rooms - which is well communicated beforehand, no problem - and no windows to open in the smaller suites, it would be nice if the sliding doors had a lock or security bar to allow it to be locked in a slightly open position for air flow. Also the smaller suites seem to have had their tables removed. No coffee table or dining table, even though there is an empty space where a table would go! For this price I think it would be reasonable to have a table to have a snack or play games in the room. Seemed like they were cheaping out on not replacing furniture.
The pool and hot tub and sauna is very nice. The change room had lockers and was clean. The grounds are lovely. We made use of the bbq. The staff was freindly.
Restaurant was closed. It would have been nice to have a restaurant open on site. The coffee machine was a one cup with pods. We had to go to the front reception to get a cup of coffee each morning as there was only 2 pods in room.
The bed was comfortable. The amenities were good.
There is no air conditioning, there were cobwebs in the elevator area. There was an enormous crane fly in our room.
