Location, friendly athmosphere and our courtyard room
only staying one night, and maybe get a older whiskey drinker to do the whiskey tasting…
This is truly a 5 star experience for ambiance, and in January it was a very reasonable price for 5 star. We had the base level room but it was large and very comfortable. Staff were very attentive but not over-bearing.
I had anticipated Loch Eske Castle would be on the shores of the loch and hence offer a loch view. It is an 800m walk to the loch, so no view from the castle grounds except a drab pine forest. That said, the walk to the loch is pleasant.

We couldn't open our windows so no fresh air circulating the room - I am sure it would have been sorted if we had have asked
12 euros for small glass of wine- although the setting is beautiful
The hotel was amazing with their cosy lit fires and the staff were very accomodating will definitely be back. The spa also was amazing.
