Everything
Nothing
In a beautiful location we stayed in the Annexe section which we thought didn’t match the rest of the property, the room was clean and comfortable overlooking the meadows very nice
Nothing to say here apart from if I was being picky the bathroom was a little bit on the small side
Location
Area
Poor selection of menu and quality of food very poor
We’re obliged to eat out after first meal
Lovely spot by the river, restaurant/bar overlooking beautiful fields, close to shops and walking distance from station
Very hot stuffy room, check-in not until 4, terrace closes at 9
This was the state behind the toilet in our room. I noticed it not long after arriving but it has obviously been leaking for months or longer. The management can't be up to much if they have either missed it or failed to attend to it. Avoid.
The room we stayed in you could not swing a cat in .We had a two night stay last week and to be fair the weather was very very hot .But the room we had which was right at the top was unbearably hot .The hotel had put two fans in but that was totally inadequate The window only opened a few inches .In the end we left much earlier then we had planned to just to get out of that room.
There should have been a AC unit in there or we should not have been put in that room.
Breakfast was very poor and totally unorganised .No staff around .
I did email the hotel and to be honest there response was totally unacceptable. The reply came back saying sorry ,but I do hope we see you again soon .
No we will not be staying there again and I do not recommend staying at this hotel.
The location is stunning overlooking the meadows and water. The hotel was very clean and much bigger than I thought it would be. Breakfast was very good with a self-service selection. If anything was getting low it was soon topped up. All the staff were very friendly and helpful.
I wouldn't say I didn't like anything. The building is very old and does not have air-conditioning. Our visit was during the week of very high temperatures (37° to 38°). A fan was in the room and the windows were able to be opened wide. Some people complained about the heat in the rooms. The set up was fine for us. We go to Malaysia quite regularly and the temperature is usually 30° to 35° we usually turn the air-conditioning off as it is too fierce.
Friendly staff. Amazing location. Easy parking. Beautiful walks
Breakfast was quite basic.
Location lovely, staff lovely, room and bed clean and comfortable.
However, lots of issues!
Agreed to special deal - possibly wrong decision?! Wanted twin room - got a double on top floor up 52 stairs and down 9 stairs to room, no lift, no help with luggage. We’re neatly 70 years old and husband with bad knees so stairs a huge problem. No phone in room, safe didn’t work, tv buffered all the time. Went to reception for maintenance- safe fixed with sellotape (!) told us internet ongoing problem all the time. We ended up watching programmes on our mobile phones as best we could - not happy. Breakfast reasonable - ok for me as I only have fruit and cereal but hubbie said bacon thin and hard, scrambled egg tasted and looked like powdered. Couldn’t get into white bread for toast - wouldn’t open for him or staff!! Fire alarm went off at inconvenient times in error - frightening bearing in mind we were as high up as could be!! No apology no reason but that maintenance to investigate after weekend when we asked 🙄.. Common areas lovely but staircase carpet etc need good clean and refresh.
A really pretty hotel. We ate lunch and it was good. Breakfast was pricey for what it is but good quality. The room was clean and good but very warm, they did provide a fan and to be fair in a hotel of this age you don’t expect air conditioning. The only thing that we found disappointing was the terrace closed at 9pm we moved to the front of the hotel so can’t really understand the difference in being under back bedrooms to the front bedrooms. But all in all a nice hotel. My main advice, book taxis it’s an absolute pain trying to get one.
Lovely location in a heritage building
Stayed here in 2024 and loved it, then in 2026 and found it disappointing.
It’s less of a hotel and more of a glorified pub with rooms these days.
No room service, no ability to charge things to the room, no guest menu or light-bites type food for if (as I had) been travelling for some time and arrived late- even a travel lodge does this.
The throws on the bed smelled and clearly hadn’t been washed even though the bedding had been.
Limited plugs in the room-none near the bed.
More rooms than parking spaces made taking the car anywhere stressful as it wasn’t guaranteed we’d have somewhere to leave it when I got back.
The rooms and carpet felt tired, the bathroom door was dented and split at the bottom, there was paint missing from the skirts in the bathroom too.
Staff were patient and kind- I got the impression they knew things were a bit creaky but they did their best. Every time I passed reception they appeared to be handling another issue, so credit to them for doing the best they could.
Once I’d have given them a ten now I’d struggle to go beyond a five.
It’s not bad, it’s just not good either.
Staff were mostly friendly and polite.
No air conditioning. One small fan on hottest day/night of the year. Would benefit from small air con units.
Good order was completely wrong. No bottled water in room.
