I’ve been to this location many times over the years, for work and for pit stops in between home and family. The clawfoot tubs and the beds are SO luxurious after a long day, and I truly look forward to this space. I’m writing this review because the customer service i received tonight was 10/10. I was having some technical difficulties with booking my room and the gentlemen (I believe his name was Matt W.) at the front desk was so kind and patient with me. He helped me to find my Marriott member number, guided me through a couple important decisions I needed to make, and absolutely enhanced my experience. I really appreciate the time and energy he took in assisting me, I cant let it go unnoticed. Thank you Matt. I’ll happily continue to support and recommend this business!
The rooms are clean and comfortable. I always enjoy the foot claw tub.
That nothing Dec when we came, and this time the fire alarm was a false alarm. It made me think this happens frequently. It goes off, and everyone evacuates for a while then they say it’s fine.
I don't get to go out very often with 2 kids under 8 so when my sister offered to babysit so I could have a spa day with my hubby for my bday I was so excited!
Booked us both an 80 min massage and then I was going to get a facial. I booked online, they called me back hours later around 4:55 to get a credit card on file, by the time I called back they were closed no biggie I call them back the next day. The phone does this weird ring thing and no one answers and the call drops. I try calling from my husbands phone, same thing. They call back sometime later apologizing and saying their WiFi was down so their phones were down. Not a big deal. Also their saltwater jacuzzi is out of service. Not ideal but not the end of the world bc we can use the hotel pool.
Fast forward to a week later, I'm checking in early and getting the tour and find out that not only is the jacuzzi out of service but their sauna is too. Le sigh. I get my massage which was not relaxing (the masseuse was nice but moved really fast the whole time, except on my forearms) Hard to enjoy someone vigorously rubbing your back for 80 mins. No biggie, bc facials are always slow and relaxing and this next part will help calm me down.
My esthetician wasn't ready when I got out of the massage (was still setting up) so I grab a snack, go to the restroom and tell my husband to enjoy the hotel pool. He pays and then goes to the pool. Facial time! I get in the chair and a scratchy hair protector was put on me and she proceeds to wash my face and put on a quick enzyme mask. That's the first time she steps out the room. I'm not thinking anything of it. She eventually comes back, wipes off the enzyme, and then proceeds to tell me that her heart rate is raising high and she needs to drop it, and I was like ok no worries. I was another min or two and then ask, hey should I get someone? And she says yes I'm having a medical emergency please grab my manager. So I step off the table naked (hoping no one is looking lol), grab my robe, see her lying on her back on the floor with legs elevated on her stool, then I run into the hall and say hey esthetician name is having a medical emergency and the manager and receptionist rush in.
At this point I'm calling it and decide to cut my losses and go to the pool. Get the bikini on and am about to walk to the pool when the manager comes back in to ask if I want to continue the facial! I'm concerned this girl is going to pass out on me while I'm on the table, no thank you. She prob needs to go home! Why are you trying to have her work some more when she literally had a medical emergency, so I decline and ask again "is she actually ok?" Am told yes and then offered spf. At that point I go to the pool which was another horror story for another day.
We return maybe 1 hr 45 mins later and are then told we will only get a partial refund bc the service was almost over, which I am not sure if this is accurate bc I was naked on a table with my eyes closed, not staring at my watch.
At this point my flabbers are gasted. My bday was lame. I would expect a spa anywhere to offer a refund for a service that was not completed due to not fault of my own and if they really wanted to be nice, provide a credit to come back and actually experience a proper facial and jacuzzi. Or even offer to pay for a drink!
Long story short, don't recommend coming here.
I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel other guests deserve to know about my experience.
I stayed at The Westin Sacramento Riverfront Hotel & Spa from July 10–13, 2026. During my stay, I entrusted my vehicle to the hotel’s valet service. On the morning of July 13, I discovered that my vehicle had been entered and a significant amount of my personal belongings had been stolen.
What is especially concerning is that I had my vehicle on July 12, and it had not been broken into at that time. The theft appears to have occurred after the vehicle was returned to valet later that day or overnight while it was in the hotel’s care. Based on the fact that there was no forcible damage leads to they left my vehicle unlocked by the valet, which I find extremely negligent. When guests are required to use valet and are paying $52 per day for parking, there is a reasonable expectation that basic precautions—like locking the vehicle—will be taken.
While I understand that crimes can happen anywhere, what has been most disappointing is how this situation has been handled afterward. Communication has been minimal, updates have been difficult to obtain, and I have had to repeatedly follow up just to find out what is happening. As a guest, I expected much better from a property carrying the Westin and Marriott name. Additionally, my interaction with Danielle, the general manager, left me feeling as though I was being blamed for the situation. While I could understand that perspective if my vehicle had been forcibly broken into, that was not the case here—my car was left unlocked while in the hotel’s care.
I’m not someone who immediately asks for compensation or threatens legal action. I simply wanted the hotel to acknowledge what happened, communicate with me, and make a genuine effort to do the right thing. Instead, I’ve been left feeling ignored while dealing with the financial loss and stress of having my vehicle violated.
If you stay here and use the valet service, I would encourage you to remove all valuables from your vehicle and carefully document its condition before handing over your keys.
I sincerely hope Marriott and HHM Hotels review how this incident has been handled and take meaningful steps to improve both guest security and communication. I will gladly update this review if the company ultimately demonstrates the level of accountability and customer service I expected from the beginning.
I dropped my Apple Bluetooth headphones in the room and didn't take them. I replied through support that I couldn't find them, but I found the location of the headphones in the hotel lobby.
L’emplacement à deux pas de la I-5 et pourtant très calme et donnant sur la rivière Sacramento
L’obligation du valet
My second time coming., and the same results.
Beautiful rooms, nice location, and the food was exceptional. Both visits lead to me proofing more than I needed to that I already booked a room online. I had to ask about the bottle waters that automatically comes with the booking yet just a full couple in front was handed to them without asking and the customer service towards them was far better than what I received. This is the second and probably last time I'll book here.
Staff are friendly, accommodating, and efficient. The facilities are beautifully decorated and very clean. The location on the river makes the stay very special.
We've stayed at this hotel many times - excellent stay for special occasions. We recently stayed for a "mini moon" after getting married. The bathrooms are huge - we love the large soaking tub and shower. King bed suite is so comfortable and balcony with nice view. Having a restaurant on site is nice as well.
The last room we stayed I felt the AC unit was loud. Also we left notes that we were celebrating our wedding - and we obviously paid extra for a waterfront view. Our first room we were assigned only had a view of the parking lot and reception tent. We asked to be moved - and front desk was accommodating. Though I feel that if you leave notes like that - especially when we booked this a month or more in advance, it should be understood we want the highest floor and best view possible. Next day there was another front desk employee and they provide us a bottle of champagne and choice of soaking bath salts which was nice!
We stayed as a family with two children under five anticipating the swimming pool for the hot afternoons in Sacramento. It was our stop to and from an out of state destination. Both times the pool was closed! The one leg of a trip they put us in rooms overlooking a wedding with loud music. What a disaster for $300+ rooms. Very disappointing to say the least.
Absolutely loved my stay at The Westin Sacramento Riverfront! This hotel is incredibly beautiful, modern, stylish, and has such a relaxing atmosphere. From the moment I arrived, the staff at the front desk were beyond kind, welcoming, and genuinely helpful — they made me feel so special and taken care of.
One of my favorite little details was the variety of water stations in the lobby — such a thoughtful touch and honestly so impressive! The hotel grounds are beautiful, peaceful, and very well maintained.
The room was amazing — super cozy, comfortable, stylish, and spotless. Everything felt high-end and relaxing, making it the perfect place to unwind and truly enjoy the stay.
This was honestly my best experience in Sacramento, and I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a beautiful and comfortable stay. I will definitely be coming back!
