Disappointing experience: no heating, poor customer service and excessive luggage storage fees.

Our experience at B&B HOTEL Berlin City-Ost was extremely disappointing, particularly given the standards one would expect from an established hotel chain.

1. No heating during cold and rainy weather

When we arrived, the weather in Berlin was cold and rainy, but the heating was not working anywhere in the hotel. When we raised the issue with reception, we were told that the hotel was still operating in “summer mode” and that the heating would be switched to “winter mode” at some point during the month. No specific date or immediate solution was offered.

We were therefore left in a cold room after spending the day outside in unpleasant weather. We find it unacceptable that a hotel can leave its heating switched off during cold autumn weather and offer guests no alternative.

2. Excessive charges for luggage storage and early check-in

Another major disappointment was the hotel’s policy regarding luggage.

If you arrive before 3 p.m., the hotel charges €15 for early check-in, even if your room is already ready. Otherwise, you are directed to self-service lockers, which cost €2 per hour per locker. The same problem arises after check-out, as luggage storage is not offered free of charge at reception.

After trying to negotiate because we did not want to pay these additional charges simply to leave our luggage for a few hours, the staff eventually agreed to keep our bags at reception, but still charged us for this service.

This situation was particularly frustrating because the staff’s response suggested that the procedures were not clearly established or consistently applied. We find it astonishing that a hotel belonging to a chain such as B&B charges guests to store their luggage for a few hours. We have stayed in many hotels and have never encountered this kind of policy.

3. Booking.com provided no assistance during our stay

We contacted Booking.com to report the heating problem and request a solution, such as alternative accommodation or a refund.

Great stay!
Pros:

This place had everything we could have wanted. Comfortable bed, possibility to easily regulate the temperature in the room, coffee machine, window with a view in the street. Simple yet fancier than the usual B&B.

Cons:

You could hear noise/voices from the hallway and other doors opening and closing, though it was never too loud.

einige vegane Aufstriche und weitere gute Auswahl beim Frühstück, Zimmer sauber und modern, TV war kaputt hätte durch Zimmertausch ersetzt werden können.

Pros:

locatie langa statia de metrou, exista loker in hotel pana la check-in, magazin DM, market, restaurant, cafenea langa hotel, camera curata, pat confortabil. Metroul functioneaza si noaptea pe perioada weekend-ului. Usor de ajuns la obiective.
