Relaxing.
Pros:

It's a nice place to go to relax and refresh.

Cons:

No coffee machine in the restaurant at breakfast. No prosecco in the room. We stay in the same type of room every March and these are the 2 changes that we noticed 😔

The stay was expensive for what you get but was comfortable.
Pros:

Great location.

Cons:

Cold in bar area but I feel the cold to be fair. Had to wait to be seated for breakfast but on both days no staff attending the wait area. Waited 10 minutes 1st day and just walked in 2nd day as no staff on hand again. Could not find a tea spoon both mornings. Morning 2 at breakfast it was quieter but food not very warm. Nice coffee. Couldn't see an option for breakfast to make order i.e. omelette, porridge etc. I use hotels a lot and I think the rooms are overpriced by £40- £50 per night. Maybe better value in a golf break deal? We just had the room.

Hotels looking tired now
Pros:

Food was excellent at evening meal and golf course was great

Cons:

Hotels tired needs alot of money spending on it service was very poor apart from Sam on reception breakfast buffet was cold and run out of some food

Our Formby home from home.
Pros:

We love everything about FHGR&S The staff are all lovely and welcoming. Rachel at breakfast even welcomed us recognising that we were returning guests and we feel that is particularly nice as she must meet such a large number of guests! To the chef who cooked and brought my poached eggs to the table himself, thank you for the 5 star service and the eggs were spot on! Check-in and out was seamless. I have to say personally, that the beds at FHGR&S, are ridiculously comfortable- in each of the rooms we have been in. We really enjoy using the pool facilities too.

No evening bar or room service - poor
Pros:

We have attended many events here and stayed many times before. The rooms are alway clean and comfortable

Cons:

No residents bar and no facilities to enjoy the bar area following our event in the evening. No room service and front staff attitude poor - advised us to use just eat for food and alcohol delivery. Very poor for this type of venue

Nice for 1 night wouldn’t recommend breakfast to the room for extra charge.
Pros:

Bedrooms very big and bathroom was big too with shower and bath

Cons:

The mirror under the TV. Two beds pushed together so kept having to get up and push the back together as they where sliding apart and then breakfast we had delivered to our room it was cold and egg shells where still attached to our eggs which was disappointing.

Excellent experience.
Pros:

Another thoroughly enjoyable stay at Formby Hall.
Our special go to place for complete relaxation ,peace & calm.
All staff are so welcoming and helpful.In particular Sammy on reception who always sorts our room when we decide to stay an extra night.
Bar staff- Jess R ,Rose,Ray. For swift efficient bar service.
Fairway grill - Rachel restaurant manager.Very efficent allocating table seating & explaining how it all works.
Ann - for excellent service of hot beverages.
Tom - breakfast waiter - so helpful & prompt in clearing used crockery etc.
It is always a pleasure to be served by these staff.
Raoul the new manager is to be complimented on the significant changes made to overall operations of the hotel.
Bedrooms clean & tidy & beds very comfortable.
Bathroom well stocked with all necessary products & soft towels.
Spa facilities & swimming pool are excellent.
Noise level minimal on all corridors.
Looking forward to our next visit.

Disappointing compared to previous visits.
Pros:

We have stayed here a few times & our daughter had her wedding reception with you. We enjoyed the use of the spa and also breakfast in the morning

Cons:

The bar was sadly understocked and found what you had very expensive.

Needs an upgrade.
Pros:

Stayed again after visit in 2023 after hearing there were new owners.

Positives.
1. Gym has brand new equipment since last visit though no staff around to show you how to work anything. Last time we came they had a member of staff based there to help.
2. The entrance is very well maintained by the gardeners.
3. Staff in golf shop and staff on reception and who served drinks were pleasant.

Negatives
1.Pool and spa area very tired, cracked tiles by pool and in shower area. The dispensers looked like they had been broken for a long time as had rusted up. Shower doors missing etc.
2. Steam room not working, believe from chatting to members there is frequently something not working.
3. Majority of lockers in both changing rooms were broken.
4. Bar service extremely slow, two separate coffee orders took well over 20 minutes.

The cleaning staff by the pool etc obviously work hard but impossible to improve on such tired, run down facilities.
