Good location and really nice views from our room on the top floor
The room smelt slightly damp and musty maybe some roof leaks causing the issues as the plasterboard looks damaged
Very disappointed it was we arrived to a hotel with dirty carpets stained with bleach room 205 the staff were unhelpful, no spa treatments available, it was pouring with rain which dripped on my window all night I contacted reception at 4am as I had really had enough all the reception said was, well do you want to move room ? I didnt at 4am. The breakfast was cold and we werent the only ones complaining at reception to a young girl called Barbara. I will never go again
The room
The unavailable treatments
The cold breakfast
Lack of sleep due to dripping noise
Bleach stained carpets room 205
Really good love this place
Not enough staff in bar waited 10 minutes to get a drink with no one on bar
The main meal came with burnt chips and the salad dressing tasted like it had gone bad. The breakfast was ok just we was placed on a table and we had to moved things off it to make room for our plates.
The room was not the best. There was damage in the bathroom also the room windows would not shut so it was cold even with the heating on.
We requested fresh clean towels in the morning and these were not provided. The room also was not freshened up there was no maimed to be seen on our floor.
The shower seemed to have not been cleaned.
This stay was something we was looking forward too and this is meant to be a relaxing day/night felt more like just staying in a standard B&B and we could not wait to leave.
When checking out the systems seemed to have gone down and after waiting nearly half hour we was asked if they could calls us when the systems had come back up to pay.
This 1 night stay was definitely not worth the money.
excellant
nothing
We visited Formby Hall Golf Resort & Spa yesterday for a family spa break. Overall, it was a nice experience with some real highlights.
The food absolutely stole the show and was genuinely unreal. What made it even better was the service especially from our waiter Soner who was outstanding. He was attentive friendly and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. He really made the experience for us and deserves special recognition.
The spa itself was okay but the facilities were a bit underwhelming. There was not a lot to do and some areas were out of order during our visit. The lockers were particularly poor as hardly any of the locks worked which was frustrating and let the experience down.
That said the spa treatments were lovely and everyone in our group really enjoyed them.
In summary amazing food excellent service especially Soner and lovely treatments but the spa facilities could definitely do with improvement.
Well establishment club with restaurant Visited for afternoon tea with family.
The dining room was lovely overlooking the golf course - only a few Harry golfers as it was pouring!!
Kind welcome and tea was very good in the traditional style of afternoon tea. What we couldn't eat we took home!!
The staff were a sensation. Val is the perfect manager- kind, thoughtful and most welcoming. A return it to be cared for by Val is worthwhile. All staff were excellent including the waiter who is from Turkey. He spoke thoughtfully to us.
There wasn't much parking in front of reception and we had last place. I wonder if there is another car park which is worth asking about.
So all in hall a lovely day. Val's paradise
Weekend stay with my wife as a treat booked as Christmas gift.
Stayed here for 3rd time on a winter escape weekend, booked superior loft room once again , can't remember exact cost ( approx £250 p night )
Room lovely and comfortable bur my wife commented on how the fridge only had 2 complimentary bottles of water compared to the first time we stayed there were complimentary drinks. Also the coffee machine in our room didn't work.
We also noted that although we had a security key card to access our floor , it didnt work or didnt seem to be needed as the door to the corridor to our room wasnt security locked as on previous visits , anybody could have accesed the corridor. Also at breakfast , the choice of food was halved from the first time we stayed , there seemed so much less than on previous visits. Very basic offering with a few yoghurts and juices plus the usual hot food. The ' hot ' food was rather luke warm. I understand keeping buffet style food ' hot ' isn't easy but again something to note. Whilst we were being seated a member of staff offered us tea or coffee but advised that a cappuccino would be ' extra £' !!
When you pay high end prices I suppose you expect a high end product, so the small things that don't come up to expectations or the cut backs here and there such as nothing in the fridge in the room tend to be noticed when you've had them previously.
We used the pool , steam , sauna etc which is very nice and this place is a lovely relaxing place to stay.
We had a bar meal on the Saturday afternoon , steak baguette and chips which was excellent.
We went into Ainsdale on the Saturday evening , it's a lovely village with some nice bars and restaurants.
Overall we would recommend this hotel. It's in a lovely location and the rooms are excellent, it's a nice treat to stay here but would note to management that at high end prices people do notice the details.
Thanks .
Location was very good in immaculate grounds.
The pool area was good but was looking tired and chaded.
The dining area needed a few more staff the young men waitering the tables did well but there inexperience showed, apart from that the hotel was good.
Very quite and felt safe, also clean
It was all okay
breakfast is the weaker part of our stay: food choices were literally the same everyday, and were quite limited.
Breakfast, as stated above.
