Very nice staff.
They failed to look in mini fridge, had old things in with mold
The breakfast was excellent. We stayed two nights and often see the same food presented in every breakfast bar. The Sherman Holiday Inn Express was wonderful - the first day biscuits and gravy, eggs, sausage (2 types). The second day the makings for breakfast burritos (eggs, potatoes, cheese, bacon). The 'standard' offerings both days were the pancake machine and warm cinnamon rolls. My husband asked to have his coffee heated up and the woman staffing the breakfast bar was happy to do it and in fact, asked him the second day if his coffee was warm enough!
We reserved a double queen suite for 3 adults and there was only one bath towel initially. When we asked for additional towels, the front desk immediately provided us with two more. I would recommend stocking more towels initially.
The sheets were soft
The air conditioner condensation leaked on the floor, the carpet was wet when we got there, the tile in the bathroom was loose on the floor and the grout was mildewed, the bathroom clearly had had a previous water.Leak and the patchwork on the wall was terrible. The shower tile was mildewed as well. And when I requested an additional pillow, the first pillow that was offered was blood stained.
Front desk attendants were friendly and efficient
We were placed on a floor that was being remodeled. Our room was very dated, the floor in the hallway felt very dated and in one area as if it wasn’t solid and could possibly break through. Our room was decently clean as far as the bedding and linens but the bathroom floor was old and stained, the corners were cracked and dirty but again they are working on remodeling, we moved the couch to use the outlet and something had been spilled down the wall behind the couch possibly coffee or a child spilled there soda . When we got back to the room for the night our door was jammed and we couldn’t open it ( key was working fine) front desk attendant was very nice and came up and showed us a trick to get it open. It appeared it had happened before because the part of the doorframe where the lock goes in had been pried open at some point. No real ac , just a portable ac unit installed on the wall like you could put in your home . It did the job . Overall hotel very dated and glad to see it’s getting a makeover. We will give it a while and possibly try it again once remodel is complete.
The free breakfast was amazing, the room got super cold (rare, and much appreciated), but the best part was the staff. SUPER professional and friendly!
There wasn't anything that needed improving in my opinion.
First room we were given was previously occupied and not cleaned. Second room we got off the elevator and light was flickering. Mold surrounded the bathtub, the fold out bed spring was broken and falling through the frame. Smell of odor in room from mold and doors would not close. Overall felt unsafe and not what I expect at a holiday inn express. Very disappointed
Elevators out of order, did not let me know during reservation, outlets near sink not GFI , floor tile loose. Broken & uneven. This property has doors falling off jambs, their laundry room door will not shut others missing door locksets. A person would think with a disabiled wife, he would have got a 1st floor room. I'm also a disabilied Veteran.
Location was good and the desk clerk was courteous.
My room was in serious need of repairs. The bathroom had mold around the tub and shower walls. There was a large crack in the ceiling of the bathroom and only one light worked. The tile was lifting, cracked and the grout was missing in numerous places. The wall plate that covers the light switches was broken nearly in half and only half was still in place.
For a Holiday Inn it was in very poor shape. My mistake was making the reservation based upon the location. The price was only slightly less than the Hampton Inn next door, and I paid about $70 more for the nite than I should have.
Appealing look from outside and on website.
Inside the halls and elevator were dirty, needed to be swept and/ or vacuumed. The room had a pull open bed sofa and it was broken held together by duck tape. The bathroom soap dispensers all had soap not conditioner, not body soap… and the faucet was coming off the wall… not what I have experienced staying at Holiday Inn … definitely disappointing
The Front Desk Clerk Kevin was the only good thing at that Property! He was Amazing and made Me feel Very Welcome there!
The Room was disgusting! Old and run down! Bathroom door wouldn’t even close! The Hotel needs a Complete update and renovation!
Absolutely nothing. Infested with huge cockroaches
Worst hotel I’ve stayed at in my life. Walked in, saw huge cockroaches and left
The entire hotel needs a renovation. The staff dresses very unprofessional
Property in very poor shape. I stayed in room 137. A/C did not work properly, wires were hanging down from it on bottom. Black mold in bathtub caulking and around tub. In bathroom, there were holes in wall where drywall had rotted out. Grounds were unkept and dumpster enclosure wide open for the 3 days I was there. In addition, the price of the room per night was one of the highest in Sherman. This is not typical of a Holiday Inn Express who usually maintains good standards.
The location was amazing and convenient to restaurants and shopping
The first room they put me in smelled like mildew
Love it
We booked this hotel after seeing it was rated number one on TripAdvisor for Sherman, Texas. I wish we had read recent reviews warning us of its condition instead of relying on its #1 rating. While the front desk clerk was extremely kind and attentive after we had to make several requests to remedy various issues, the condition of the hotel leaves a lot to be desired. It felt very unclean and disorganized. The whole hotel had a strange perfume-y and musty smell - with the occasional smell of marijuana in different portions of it. At one point, we requested a change in rooms due to a broken pull out bed only to be informed that there were no other available rooms. While I know this hotel is presently under renovation and therefore has limited space, the cars in the parking lot and number of other guests we encountered did not seem to indicate there should be a lack of rooms. In fact, the room that we were in seemed like it had not been attended to or stayed in some time. There are at least 4 hotels all situated in this same block… I recommend choosing one of them.
Frist the good news, the room is big. I paid IHG price for days inn quality. Call the front desk for a rate was quoted low 120's, said ok and he said he would transfer me to make the reservation. That woman gave me a higher price and would not match the front desk price. After checking around I got on the app and reserved it. Check in was fine. Got to my room after a 12 hour drive, tired, checked for bugs, none, bathroom toilet was running. Lot of small real dark hair behind the faucet. TV remote sticky. Mirror not clean, back of desk chair broke, telephone cord broke. Call front desk on my cell told him about toilet and phone he said maintance man was still there and would send him up. Hour later still a no show. Went to the lobby and asked about it was told the man said he did not have parts to fix it and would do it tomorrow. There was a Lowes right across the road. He offered to change rooms and I said no I was settled in and I could stand it if they could as I didn't have to pay the water bill. It ran all night and wasted no telling how many gallons of water. Property is not in very good shape and priced like new. I will stay elsewhere for sure next time.
Property was having construction, and our room was dirty and stains on all furniture. The pull out bed was held together with duct tape. Beds seemed clean and it was a quick trip overnighter so we stayed.
