Breakfast was excellent.
My room was due a deep clean, fine but not great.
The professionalism and friendliness of the staff
Beautiful, stylish mix of old architecture and modern comfort. Really beautiful hotel which wasn’t very obvious from the online photos so I was very pleasantly surprised by how nice it was.
Slightly noisy external fan on roof outside my window. About six or more No Entry ⛔️ signs when I drove up to the property and walked to hotel from car park. It felt very negative from first impressions and no clear signs telling me where to go or welcoming. I was starting to think Oh no, where have I booked? But then I was greeted so warmly at reception that my fears disappeared.
The rooms were very well presented and spacious. The bathroom was a fantastic size. Everything was clean and comfortable
Nothing
Room lovely, only disturbed by barking dog until 11pm
would like to see yogurt, granola, more fresh fruit for breakfast.
The whole experience was of a high standard. On arrival we were greeted by pleasant staff whi informed us our room had been upgraded. The room was huge, clean and had great facilities including the large whirlpool bath. The bar had a wonderful atmosphere and the restaurant food was outstanding. Would definitely return and recommend to others.
We've stayed a number of times, we love it here.
TV in bathroom didn't work
Beautiful building and room in the old part (10). Decor and finishing was just right. Very comfortable
The place and location was lovely. Restaurant was really nice, good food and pleasant staff.
On arrival, the room was very cold, no heating working initially. Kept banging my head on the sloping ceiling. TV didn't work initially. Coffee machine water cylinder was absolutely full of limescale, unusable. This was cleaned after I reported it.
food great, staff great
The coffee machine in the room leaked so i couldn't use it. There wasn't a shower but a large whirlpool bath, but there was no plug? just a hand held shower head on a 2 ft flexible pipe. Not ideal.
The room was comfortable and quiet with a big jacuzzi-style bath. The surrounding gardens were pleasant. The tv worked well and it was good to have the Nespresso machine. Lots of parking space and the cooked breakfast was good.
While there were some positive aspects, there were also a few issues that impacted my experience.
The phone in the bedroom wasn’t working, which made it difficult to contact reception when I needed assistance. Similarly, the Bluetooth speaker in the room couldn’t be used—it appeared to be connected to a different room, and although I was told a pin code was required and that maintenance would address it, it wasn’t fixed during my stay.
I arrived about 30 minutes before check-in time and was asked to wait. While I understand there are set check-in times, the hotel didn’t seem particularly busy, and at a 4-star level, I would have appreciated a quick check to see if the room was ready rather than being made to wait without question. The reception staff could benefit from being a little more friendly and welcoming with a smile in general.
The bed, which was advertised as Hypnos on the website, was less comfortable than expected—it may have been an older model that could benefit from replacement.
On my second evening, I returned around 10:30pm to find the hotel locked, which I hadn’t been made aware of in advance and found quite surprising.
A few smaller details also stood out—for instance, the playlist in the bar felt a bit dated and didn’t quite match the otherwise elegant ambiance. In the bedroom, there was a safety catch on the window which limited how much fresh air could come in, and even with the air conditioning on, the room felt a little stuffy. It would have been lovely to have the option of opening the window more.
Overall, there’s a lot of potential here, but a few service and maintenance details could be improved to better align with the standard the hotel is listed as.
The grounds to the hotel were beautiful, we done lots of walking around, it was peaceful and well kept gardens. Room was lovely and the hotel experienced a power cut so not all equipment was usable. The beds were comftable and big, hotel nice and warm with adjustable heating. Very peaceful, relaxing stay.
Unfortunately the usp for me was the tv in the bathroom, however it did not work the whole time we were there. We reported to staff who never got back to us. The jets in the bath were faulty so had to be turned off and the main power supply at the wall. Over all it was a nice stay but this was very disappointing.
