We have stayed here a couple of times and absolutely love the character of the building, the history, the food, the staff, the location and mingling with other quests. We miss the breakfast. We enjoyed the social hour except we recall the one hour service to include snacks and wine of your choice including the amount. We were given one glass and told that a second glass would be $8.
They don't serve breakfast any longer nor does the elevator work because of the flood. Owners should invest in repairing what is necessary to bring the building back. Our room had space heaters which blew the electrical breaker on the coldest nights of the year. The cold was pretty miserable. We had very little tv service. Purchasing cable along with streaming could fix that problem. During social hour, in the lobby, it was bitterly cold. We had jackets on the second night and did not linger. It is sad because we probably won't return unless we understand that these issues have been corrected. We love this place but not in this condition.
Old school charm and great staff. Also the room is more of a suite than a hotel room.
Very cozy and welcoming. Loved the fireplace and the wine and cheese in the evenings.
The heater in our room didn’t work the best and it was cold weather. The front desk lady did her best to help and gave us a space heater but it was still a bit chilly.
Location was perfect. Very quiet. Walking distance to grocery stores and downtown. Historical building in good shape. Romantic place. To be recommended.
Staff was wonderful. For sure, we will come back.
Would be nice to have breakfast at the facility. Being an old building, a couple thing needs to be fixed such as the elevator. Heating was not working perfectly during the first night.
The quaintness and history of the hotel, the size of the rooms and the closeness to Biltmore were exactly what we needed.
The elevator was out, so you had to take your luggage up the stairs. The heating unit in the room did not work and the temperature outside was less than 25°. The light below the microwave was a strobe due to a possible short. Refreshments in the lobby were lacking. The daytime concierge was socially awkward, and seemed like he did not like his job.
Lovely historic hotel.
Crappy sheets.
Location, friendly staff, complimentary cocktail hour in living room.
The bedding was a slippery and cheap feeling cotton / poly blend, and the fitted bottom sheet kept slipping off the mattress, which also had a slippery mattress cover.
Room temperature was difficult to adjust and the room was too warm at night; windows could not be opened.
This is an older property, which has some charm but VERY creaky wood floors. We stayed on the second of three floors and our first night the guest on the third floor was walking around much of the night. Fortunately he moved out the next day as our request for a room change could not be honored.
The breakfast / dining options nearby were good.
I was excited about the charm of this hotel in Ashville. It has the potential to be SUPER charming, however the owners obliterated all the charm. The furnishings were more "garage sale" or college dorm than quaint. And it needs a massive amount of TLC/cleaning. The exterior porches and grounds were covered with leaves, sticks, mildew and cobwebs.
Supposedly there was no breakfast due to a hurricane two years ago...seems suspicious....Same for the elevator - that was't a big deal and was communicated ahead of time.
Apartment size room. Walkable to downtown Asheville
The hotel had to discontinue their gourmet breakfast but we had a full kitchen
Beautiful old property in a quiet part of town just a short distance from downtown and the river arts district.
Spacious room
No breakfast
Very cool inn. LOVE the creaky floors. Acorn is the consummate hostess!!!
No elevator
Very cool old fashioned hotel
Interesting architecture
Welcoming and warm.
The elevator was broken and the kitchen closed due to hurricane Helene the previous fall. and we were on the third floor. This was mid 10 day trip for us and we had a lot of things to keep in the room.
The website was clear there was no breakfast but there was no mention of broken elevator- we did not have a problem with closed kitchen- we would have booked a room on the first floor had we known about elevator.
A friendly staff member upon arrival. Clean bedroom and bathroom. Comfortable bed, substantial closet space. The quant feel of a time gone by. Wine and charcuterie was welcome.
The corner location, overgrown areas outside, especially the parking area. Elevator was not in service, no morning breakfast. Security system was unacceptable.
