The food at this resort is a rip-off. Outrageously overpriced. Nearly $10 for a plate of bland fries. Only the bar offered any relief with decent drinks and friendlier staff. To make matters worse, the dining areas are swarming with mosquitoes. It felt like I paid premium prices to be eaten alive .Save your money and eat elsewhere.Skip the food, bring bug spray, and lower your expectations.
We were recommended Kilifi Bay Beach Resort by a friend and it did not disappoint, despite it being the low season for Kenyan coastal hotels. We had a garden room which had a separate bedroom for the our child, which was great. We could see the pool and the sea from our room and both were just a short walk away. There are two pools and both were very clean, although the top pool could do with some maintenance. The hotel has lots of nicely decorated options for passing away a lazy coastal afternoon, although there is no play area for kids - which was a negative for us, although the beach and pool helped compensate for this... we built sand castles under the the beach bar platform, jumped in the waves and mostly had the beach to ourselves. No hassling beach boys either. The main pool has a shallow area for children, but no barrier to the main deeper pool. We were on half board and the breakfast and supper buffet were fine. The staff were friendly, especially the cleaners, the front desk and pool person.
The hotel food is fresh, I enjoyed breakfast more. The customer care and hospitality of the team at the reception, the bar and the Manager himself Mr James are top notch. They listen and resolve guests concern very fast. The ambience of the swimming pool area is super great and dinner by the pool side helps guests to mingle. It's a quite home away from home. The wifi is stable. Will be back again
Very uneven surfaces, bad lightening, filled with furniture uncleaned. Not recomended
We stayed here for 14 nights in Jan 25 and it was Brill.
It is the Friendliest Hotel we have ever stayed in .... credit to all.
Right from James the manager to the supervisors and then the staff, in all departments ..... bravo.
Shout outs to Lennox, Jacob, Patrick, Victor, Mike, Brian and Laurence. I know I've left loads out, basically everyone.
Ok, it could do with a coat of paint and maybe a bigger wardrobe, but it was fine, with African feel.
Food was varied and ample.
Cold, proper glasses and bottled beer, so no half pints of foam.
The rooms got sprayed for mosquito every night and nets put down.
Mike, the only animation man does the pool and tries to get the animation going.
Evening entertainment was very limited. We were away on safari 2 nights. Lots had no entertainment. Saw acrobats twice, local dancers once, one nlind musician once and that was it. Sadly Masi dancers were cancelled.
At one point there was only about 6 guests around the pool so ideal relax.
No beach brollies as tide comes up too far.
Pool mattresses comfy but needs more beds ..... had to get from sister hotel when 18 guests returned from safari.
Mike wanted 1500 for quick tuk tuk yo Kalifi and 2000 for drop and collect. It was 1000 total via reception for drop and collect.
Sports bar just opposite hotel as hotel bar shut 11pm and I wanted to see UK game that started then.
Kilifi about 15 mins in tuk tuk.
Mombassa journey long and chaotic at times.
Lovely beach . ... sellers hide or shelter under hotel coconut bar area ..... just say no, a few times and they leave you alone.
Sea about 28 degrees.
Lively 4 poster bed
Pool needs brollies for shade ..... none.
Shame coconut bar does not provide drinks after 6pm ..... it has lovely views.
Small but good good menu.
Had a problem with TV and air con. Lennox got both fixed straight away.
We travelled from Scotland so long hail but worth it.
We recommend this hotel.
Thank you all for a lovely holiday,
Scott and Evy.
This hotel was absolutely superb. We had rooms opposite the sea with a private little terrace. Lovely breeze coming off the sea. Air con in the rooms, ensuite bathrooms, cute room with a genuine African cottage vibe with thatched roof. The staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough for you. Food was freshly made every day and the fruit and veg were superbly cooked as was everything else. I highly recommend this hotel. Wonderful. We were there for a week but could easily have stayed longer.
The customer service, food and hospitality was very good.
Thanks to the General manager and team for making our Christmas stay a memorable one hope to be back one day...............................................................
What's not to like about this place? Serene environment, great staff, amazing food, comfortable rooms, fun beach front. The staff and the food were the highlights. The staff are real OGs! They deserve accolades all day everyday. I will be back!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dickens the chef really took care of me and sorted out halal food whenever I needed. Honestly he made things very easy for me. Overall, hotel has a good location and really great staff. I would say there’s not much activities which is a surprise as you can walk onto the beach from the hotel
This is our fourth stay and we would never go anywhere else . The bungalow rooms are stunning, overlooking a white sand, deserted beach . Sheets and towels are of a high standard. Room service is excellent . The pool staff are extremely attentive . Sun beds are plentiful . A special mention must go to the chef , Otieno , who has gone over and above to create vegan and vegetarian dishes for the buffet each night. Truly talented and some of the best food we’ve had around the world .We can’t wait to come back .
Good stay with nice helful staff, though food could be better
Our visit was on a very hot season! We enjoyed the cool environment around the hotel and beach area.
The Accommodation rooms were clean, with king size beds.
Rooms closer to the beach are more expensive but worthwhile. Kilifi Bay Beach Resort is located on the Kenyan coast along the Indian Ocean.
Food is excellent, staff very friendly, always helping and very quick with fixing a problem, accommodation is very clean and in a good condition, very good to go there, can really recommend it, it is also a quiet place, one can relax very well
I had a conference at the Kilifi university and together with my friend we stayed at the Kilifi Bay Beach Resort. The staff was extremely friendly and would fullfill every single wish! We highly recomment the service there! Everybody was very nice and polite. The food was delicious as well!!!
Great hotel for conferencing with excellent service and food! Our conference guests were happy with the facilities and the service was good. The rooms are great too. The only improvement needed is the drainage in the showers and sometimes the water was not hot, but overall excellent hotel with amazing service and staff! I will definitely go back!
The hotel has got an ambiance to die for. The food, the sea view, workers and the rooms are all incredible.
The conference facility is of international class and the rooms spacious with comfortable chairs.
The prices are affordable anf everyone is just super nice in Kilifi. I strongly recommend for conferences and vacation stay.
Excellent location with white sand 🏖🏖 staff's are friendly and very helping, excellent spot for relaxing holiday away from madness of city life, if you like indian food one best place to be, about one an half hrs drive from mombasa airport.
Paying more than twice the cost of "all in" package at the other, far superior, hotel in Kilifi , we were appalled at the poor quality of the food and required to pay for all drinks including bottled water at meals. The dinning room was gloomy and in need of a complete clean and re-decorate. The varnish had peeled off most of the chairs and tables, the woven tablemats were marked and dirty, the same dust and dead insects decorated the window sill beside our table for the whole two weeks. The small outside eating area was the home to five feral cats who not only sat howling under our table at meals but also sat on the chairs and tables, on top of the cutlery and napkins and these were not replaced. The plates were chipped and of differing patterns.
The chefs did their best with bad basic materials by providing good interesting sauces but the meat was almost all bone, fat and gristle, potatoes and eggs stale, fish dry and tasteless and all protein was served in minute proportions. The breakfast was the worst meal with bacon served in two inch strips on two days out of fourteen, brick like chicken sausages, stale tasting fried potatoes and very limited fruit selection, and for the first week the "chef" was unable to fry an egg. The presentation of food was dreadful , foil covered unheated aluminium containers on a buffet covered with a dirty cloth. And COLD. We only ate here four nights having paid for fourteen!
The hotel is located about an hour away from the International airport but once you are there, there is no need to find the noise of the city. It has 2 swimming pools and couples or families with children will really enjoy it. The beach is the best quality of the hotel. It is long and clean white sand. Good for long walks, jogging or just playing in the ocean. The food was good and the made sure that both meat eaters and vegetarians were accommodated. There are no phone is the room, so any requests had to be made in person at the reception. The rooms were clean and some upgrades needed on the showers, sinks and toilets. The staff were friendly and helpful. Overall, we had a good stay.
The Mada chain website gives this hotel a lovely glowing write up, plus four shiny stars! However it is a run-down seedy 2 star at best. The rooms are filthy - and unsafe. Door and windows don't lock properly, outside lights aren't working, and the furniture in the bedroom is all a 70's mismatch with rusty shower head and taps in the bathroom. The tea and coffee making facilities consisted of a chipped saucer containing a few tea bags and a couple of bags of sugar, plus a rusty kettle. No milk - and the fridge was broken anyway. As was the overhead fan... On check-in the receptionist actually told me I'd been upgraded! I dread to think of the state of the other rooms... DO NOT STAY HERE - it's horrendous.
