Woodbine Hotel & Suites

Although we decided not to stay overnight at the hotel after explaining that the room did not meet our expectations, the management refused to refund our night’s stay, even after intervention from Booking.com.

From the moment we arrived, several issues raised concerns. During check-in, a large carpenter ant crawled across the reception counter in plain sight. In addition, the glass partition separating guests from the reception staff was noticeably dirty, creating an immediate impression of poor maintenance and cleanliness.

After seeing the outdated condition of the hotel, which appears to lack the budget needed for both renovations and general upkeep, we found that these issues were also reflected in the room itself. The furniture was heavily worn and faded, the toilet bowl was stained, and the exterior view overlooked old hot tubs that had been stored in the courtyard.

We sat on the bed and it was immediately clear that the mattress was old, both in terms of comfort and shape. Many elements of the room were damaged, including the wall paint, light fixtures, furniture, curtains, and more. Cleanliness was also below acceptable standards. It did not take a close inspection to notice dirt and dust accumulating in the corners.

In short, the hotel appeared to be operated with a clear lack of both resources and commitment to maintaining even a basic standard of quality and cleanliness. We felt as though we were staying in an old roadside motel rather than a hotel that meets the standards one would normally expect in Canada.

The was noise ar nights coming from the room

I didn't like how the staff made it sound like my night shirt was not left behind in the room when I called to retrieve it. No staff was being helpful and all they kept saying that it's not there. The housekeeping staff stole my shirt and no one did anything to ensure the guest got their shirt back when called to ask for it. I called several times asking about my shirt and the front desk even hung up the phone on me. I will never stay here again as they did nothing to get my shirt back.

First room (Room 110) we were placed in was falling apart, damaged and dirty. When other person in room got locked out and went to get key card they did not verify ID ask for Room number and said name on reservation and gave card with no further questions. No dead bolt lock on room.
