Good location
Close to Major Marine tours
No WiFi in the rooms (only in lobby)
Poor breakfast
Untrained staff that is disorganized and makes too many mistakes which cause too much hassle for customers (put you in much worse rooms that you booked and paid for; tell you contradicting things; etc.
1. Location is great. I give the location 5 stars when it comes to the beautiful dock, being close to the cruise ship, and being close to Ray’s restaurant, which is the best one in Seward.
2. The view is nice if you get a harbor-view room.
3. Free shuttle to the cruise ship, departing at 12:30 and 2:10.
1. No WiFi in the room. You will get a WiFi downstairs in the lobby but there is no WiFi in the room. When I told this to front desk they said they were aware and if I need to have WiFi, I should go to another hotel 4 mins away and sit in the lobby there. Seriously?! A hotel for close to $600 per night without a WiFi in the room is a no starter for me.
2. Staff blames each other for mistakes and luck of training. We ordered and paid for a room with balcony and harbor view but were given room facing parking lot and without balcony. Front desk blamed AM staff for that mistake. Once they changed our room, we went upstairs again, but our keys didn’t work. It was just up and bags with bags due to multiple check in issues. Now, re taxi… When I called the night before to ask if I should order taxi in advance, the front desk staff told us that taxis in Seward don’t do advance order and we should just come to front desk at 7 am and they will call taxi for us. When we can at 7 am to reception, I was told by reception staff that none of the taxis operate before 10 am. We called all 6 or so taxis and none picked up. We ended up walking 25 mins to get to our kayaking activity.
3. Breakfast was bad…. Yes, it’s included. But paying almost $600 per night for a 3-star hotel with a bad breakfast is sad.
I enjoyed sitting in the balcony overlooking the harbor.
Rooms were fine.
Breakfast was ok.
Location was convenient.
Yes, it is overpriced but everything in the area is.
My biggest complaint and reason for a 2 * review is that they don't have enough parking spaces for all of their guests or they do but was told by front desk staff that renovation workers were taking up the spaces. We had to park 2 blocks away and walk to the hotel. Others did too.
Location and staff were excellent
Stayed 1 night after disembarking from cruise ship. Hotel Reception doubles as check-in desk for Kenai Wildlife boat day trips. 5 mins walk to Seward Rail depot so ideal location for rail & boat day trips. Bedroom was basic but clean (motel style). Breakfast was basic but lots of other cafes & restaurants options nearby. Staff very helpful & picked us up from the cruise terminal building.
Very clean & new looking - even the carpets! Good amount of space and space utilization. Good lighting. Convenient to boat tours - some load right in front. Overall, big and busy. Breakfast room tends to overflow. Crowds going to/from boats.
The bed was comfy and the receptionist was helpful.
We chose the hotel for the location not realising how busy it would be with boat tours departing from there. There is limited space (other than your room to relax and no onsite restaurant). They do serve breakfast but it was the worst breakfast we’ve had during our travels. The indoor pool looked dirty and having to pay $80 for an early check in (for 3 hrs) when the room was ready seemed a bit steep. For the very high price of this hotel, you can do better.
Staff was very pleasant!
The water. In thw shower was only lukewarm. And I was so looking forward to a hot showwr.
Booked this hotel via Alaska Tour and Travel.
Pros: great location on the water and near the train station and some good restaurants; very good front desk staff
Cons: we booked the largest room in the hotel, a king balcony overlooking the water. While the room was spacious and clean there is no safe, the curtain over the window did not close completely (open about 8 inches), the shower pressure is terrible and the WiFi is AWFUL!!! The public areas are tired/dated and in need of renovation.
I think the hotel has strong occupancy due to it’s premier location and lack of good competition in this area
Location
Older hotel could use some updates
De locatie
Van buiten gezien ziet het er sfeervol uit, maar eenmaal binnen ga je terug in de tijd. Erg gedateerd en deprimerende hotelkamer. Vieze algemene toiletten.
The title says it all. Very convenient if your taking a Major Marine day cruise. But for $500 a night the breakfast could use a major overhaul. Think of a Best Western or Choice Hotel breakfast and then drop a notch or two.
This is a beautiful place, we loved our stay here.
The view and location was great!! Breakfast was much appreciated.
TV was not optimal. Not enough outlets or charging ports. Internet was poor.
