Holiday Inn Express Norwich by IHG

We were a bit hesitant to book as we know the hotels history but was bear my parents to stay for the Christmas break. The room was large and adequate and mattress was new and the room had gadca quick refurb. The main issue was saying to park £5 which should be just included and why charge extra?? Also the breakfast on boxing day could have been far more organised as they told us the hotel was full when we arrived Christmas day eve so breakfastveas a bit caloric tbh, we felt they could gave allocated time slots to be far more organised rather than a free for all at peak time with no tables andboeopke queuing, not what we wanted boxing day morning. We went for a walk round the boxing day sale at Asda and returned to get a table and breakfast was OK, but not the best.

Looking at some of the reviews here I start to wonder if I went to the same hotel as honestly there is nothing at all to complain about here. This hotel easily lives up to brand standards for Holiday Inn Express and like most hotels of the chain, you know what you are getting and it delivers exactly that.

The rooms were clearly recently refurbished to the Next Gen HIE design and the room I was in was spotless with everything working well and in pristine condition. Nothing at all to complain about here. I was on the ground floor but did not have any issues with noise at all and the room was large and had everything I needed.

The bathroom didn't seem to get the latest generation design refurb but instead had their existing design refreshed with everything shiny and looking like new, so clearly some money was spent here, even if the overhaul wasn't to the same extent of the bedrooms. Good water pressure in the shower as well.

Breakfast was good. Nothing to complain about here. Staff were exceptionally friendly and selection was decent and hot food was kept hot and things were being replenished when needed to be. The breakfast area was well appointed and in general you can see they must have recently spent some money refreshing the common areas as well.

There's nothing to complain here at all. This hotel deserves much higher ratings than it has got on here so far and is a typical HIE of which I've visited many across Europe. When in the area next, I'll certainly be back.

On arrival the receptionist was just rude. No smile or pleasantries at all. She asked for £90 without a please. I said are you charging for parking. She said yes and that the charge "is all over the wesite". I had the website up and suggested that it was not, but only £5.00 I thought not to argue the case. She never said thankyou, enjoy your stay or anything like that, she just walked off after giving me a rude look. Very bad welcome. Rooms are great and breakfast ok if you wait 10mins for coffee machine. Morning staff were excellent and smiled a lot.

VERY expensive for what it is, breakfast awful, some kind of tasteless reconstituted scrambled egg, awful, I stayed 3 nights, two mornings went to the local Wetherspoons for a proper breakfast.
I stayed in an accessible room, rather small, no safe, and the underside of the shower seat had some kind of brown growth on it. I would NOT recommend a stay here, especially at the price charged!!.

Very impressed with this hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were very clean, comfy beds and excellent shower. Would definitely stay again.

The staff were unfailingly friendly and welcoming, going the extra mile to serve our needs. Breakfast was fine too. The room was very clean, no complaints, and very quiet at night. Our only disappointment was in the evening meal, but given the limited facilities at the hotel, it was understandable. That was the only downside of our very peasant stay. Much recommended.

I've stayed here several times now with my family. Consistently clean, quiet and comfortable. Breakfast is good, providing all the usual options. Staff at reception very helpful. We arrived very late, so 24 hour check-in was welcome.

Really nice hotel , very clean and the room was cleaned every day . The only problem was on the last night there was a buzzing outside our room all night , hardly slept at all . Reported to the desk in the morning and said they would look into it . Disappointed that was the response

Was told I had to pay when clearly my company had paid! No hot water for two days! Room freezing air con is hard to work out. Second day I was sat talking on the bed in my underwear as I was getting changed and hotel supervisor knock on but didn't give me time to answer or cover up before she burst in checking room was clean. Never again

Excellent hotel. Extremely helpful staff. Very clean and everything you need. Car parking was a good price at £5 per night. Great breakfast which was free! Much better than hotels I have stayed in where you have to pay extra for exactly the same breakfast.

Only a one night stay whilst passing through travelling to the Coast. Disappointing check-in. The guy didn’t even welcome us, say hello or even offer a smile.Thankfully all the other staff made up for this and can’t fault our overall stay.

Room was a little chilly but we were able to adjust the air conditioning and it soon warmed up. Bed very comfy, quiet room and couldn’t fault the breakfast.

Clean and comfortable rooms with everything needed for a stay provided. The free breakfast is very good and staff are hard-working and friendly.
