Quite comfortable!

Comfortable , convenient and reasonably priced
Pros:

This had everything we needed at a reasonable price. It was right by the highway but not noisy. We stayed two nights and both nights we could walk to a nice place to eat.

Great hotel close to downtown, exceptionally clean and comfortable
Pros:

Plenty of options hot and cold constantly replenished. Staff was attentive to cleaning tables and checking food.

Comfortable stay, but not really downtown
Pros:

Holiday Inn Express–style hotel: comfortable beds, clean room, everything you would expect from the brand.

Holiday Inn Express breakfast: good variety and a spacious seating area.

Pool is a bit unusual, as it is both indoor and outdoor. The outdoor section is very small, but it is probably nicer in winter.

The hotel is located in a somewhat isolated area, but there are several restaurants within walking distance.

Important note: the hotel is not located in downtown Asheville. This was disappointing, as adding “downtown” to the hotel name can be misleading. I’ve noticed this happens quite often with Holiday Inn properties, so now I always double-check the location before booking.

Ok, but not great.
Pros:

The bed was comfortable and they had decent lighting in the room. The staff was really nice. It was clean. The indoor outdoor pool idea is a good idea, it just needs a real renovation and lighting that doesn't make it feel like a prison.

Cons:

The hotel seemed a bit worn down. The renovations were badly done and the elevator made a lot of noise. The swimming pool was really cold and the tile on the floor was not designed for floor and really slippery and the whole pool area felt kinda run down and kinda abrasive. The hot tub knob didn't work. The breakfast looked nicer than it was -- it was ok but I think we would have fared the same at a good gas station. The hotel was right next to the interstate which was a bit loud and the windows in the room were fogging. For a holiday inn, it felt worse than many I've been too and just not great for the price. I think if I would have paid under $100 I might have felt it was ok for the price. Also the gas vents for building are right near the front door so when you leave on one side it really smells like gas. Basically staff was great, so these are owner/maintenance problems.
