The Rosemount in Higher Oakfield, Pitlochry, requires more ‘highs’
Pros:

If mobility is an issue, it is a fairly steep climb to the hotel and some shallow steps within the hotel would be easier to see if there was high-viz edging. The hotel has clean and fresh decor and our room had a large, bright and well looked after shower room, but it is cold in the main public areas when the weather is inclement. Dinner is only available in the high season and breakfast choice had to be made the previous evening. The bar was not open at any stage for impromptu call ins, though it may have been opened on request. Due to lack of guests there was no atmosphere but it may be different in the Summer when hopefully it operates as a guest-focussed hotel rather than a winding-down for Winter feel B&B.

Pitlochry stay
Pros:

Stayed here for a couple of nights, and found the place to be fairly average. It felt more like a B&B than a hotel to be honest, and it (plus our room) were quite dated looking.

That being said the staff we met were nice, the bed itself was comfortable and the shower unit in the bathroom looked quite new and worked well (even if it did make noises like it was about break down at any moment!). It also had all the toiletries we could need, although more towel rails in the bathroom wouldn't go a miss.

We were given a room above reception, which didn't have much sound proofing, so this unfortunately meant we could hear all the goings on & were woken both nights with the sounds of staff setting up for breakfast in the early morning.

We had breakfast both days which were also okay. We had to give our breakfast choices the night before, which is not unusual in small run places, so this wasn't an issue for us. And it meant when we came down to breakfast we were served quickly.

The place sadly lacked any real atmosphere as well and it seemed really quiet in terms of guests. I know we came on the off season, but the town still seemed busy with tourists, just didn't see many people in our hotel. They had a bar but no one was ever seemed to be in it and I never saw anyone make use of their lounge either. It is located up a hill behind the town centre, but okay to walk if you're fit and able to.

I found it to be pretty expensive for what it was as well, but it is the Highlands so that comes with the territory! Overally it was an okay stay but the place is in definite need of a revamp, as it could be so much more.

Hard work, not a holiday.
Pros:

Room had the look of a hostel rather than a hotel. The real problem became apparent later in the evening when we tried to use the shower. One set of controls to work three things: bath taps, a standard shower head and the rainfall shower. All we could get was a slow dribble of scalding water from the taps into the bath, which we had to cool by filling a glass with a slow dribble of cold water from the washbasin tap. Trying to get anything from the shower repeatedly resulted in soaking wet sleeves from various temperatures of water. This bathroom is not safe. And it had absolutely no heating. It is supposed to be a hotel, so why do we have to choose our breakfast at 4 pm the day before we want to eat breakfast? We had not yet had dinner that evening. A stay here will not add to the enjoyment of your stay in Pitlochry.

Pros:

A lovely family-run hotel. We stayed in the Junior Suite, which had an excellent superking bed, and plenty of storage space. The ensuite was spacious and clean, as was the shower. Water pressure for the rainfall shower was a bit of an issue.
The seating area was good with a table and chairs, as well as a sofa for two. The TV was a good size but the remote control needed a refresh. A fridge would have been welcome in the suite.
However, overall, it made for a very pleasant stay.
Breakfast was excellent. There was a great choice and the food was well cooked and presented. They had different portion options too, so you did not have to over-eat.
Overall, we had an excellent stay.

Pros:

Decided last minute to stay over in Pitlochry. We were so glad we found this place - hidden gem. The Owners provided a nice warm welcome on arrival and when we left. The breakfast was amazing and rooms spotless. Short walk from the town centre. We both really enjoyed how peaceful it was. Would definitely go back.

Excellent guesthouse
Pros:

Room was clean & spacious & excellent view from my room. Plenty of tea & coffee etc & shortbread.. Pet friendly which is great. They even cooked a sausage for my dog & made a fuss of her. Was only staying one night on route, would have liked to stay longer. Staff excellent& so friendly. The drinks at the bar area are reasonable price. Only 4 mins or so walk from the train station. Wod defo stay here again. So peaceful& the back garden area has lovely views.

Great little hotel
Pros:

Great little hotel on the outskirts of Pitlochry town centre. All the staff were lovely and very dog friendly. Food was delicious. The only thing that could be improved would be some drawers in the room. Overall great though.

A lovely base for a great holiday.
Pros:

As usual a warm welcome in a delightful location. Food was well prepared and until you have been to the Rosemount, you don’t know what “dog friendly” means!

Good Hotel for all travellers, especially those with a dog
Pros:

Very friendly and super attentive to our dog. I enjoyed the conversations with all members of the staff team. Breakfast was provided with good quality ingredients. Hotel has a modern outlook with a lot of traditional features. A nice blend and situated a couple of streets back from the main town area, so easy walk to everything you need. Limited evening menu, but not an issue for its location.
