The decor, cleanliness My room was lovely
ROOM BUT I HAD SLEEPLESS NIGHTS BECAUSE OF THE NOISE. THE BOILER WAS BROKEN AND FOR THE FIST NIGHT I GOT NO SLEEP AT ALL. I met the plumber in a smallroom next to mine the next morning who apologised for the noise and said he had fixed it. It was better, but still shuddering every ten minutes or so on an irratic basis. Because it stopped intermitantly I didn't ask for a room change (and because we were down on a family visit did not want to spend my special holiday time complaining a moving rooms.
The views from the hotel are lovely.
The broken boiler and the noise it made leading to sleepless nights.
Excellent hotel in a superb location. Parking is a bit tight but we managed fine. The staff were excellent as was the food we had
There was no fridge in our room, which for a hotel of this stature was an unpleasant surprise.
I came here on a solo trip and found the staff very friendly and the facilities phenominal. I loved the sauna, plunge poole and jacuzzi it was very welcome after a day of hiking. The food at the restraunt was divine with an unbeatable view of the sunset 😁
Nothing
The location is so beautiful and is up high with the most gorgeous views. Staff were quite accommodating. The room was comfortable enough and the bathroom and shower were really nice and powerful. We stayed in 210 which was supreme room. Nice walk into Swanage which in itself is a very lovely place to visit.
The gym. Please don’t expect much, the photos make it look ok however it is very very outdated! I think some gym equipment was at least 30+ years old, rusty and very worn out pads on the benches etc. it could do with some investment.
We were asked if we would like our room made up and we said yes please but when we returned from our day out it hadn’t been which we found super disappointing. At nearly £200 a night you would expect it to be done automatically and not being asked if you would like it to be.
Other than that all was nice enough.
Staff were friendly ,polite and helpful, My room was very clean and had a great view, lived it will come back for definite
View la are amazing
Rooms need updating also the dinner lounge needs attention and the SPA needs refurbishing.
Cook breakfast needs some attention first morning ordered pouched eggs and mushrooms their where placed on the plate with one mushroom cut into two no presentation saw no love had gone into making it second morning order scramble eggs and mushrooms got half a mushroom WHY? No presentation again no effort had gone into it.
Partner order full English literally one sausage one egg half mushroom one slice of bacon half tomato and some beans …. Chef you need to put more love and presentation into the food that is going out . out of 10 I score the food a 3.
Overall a nice located hotel that needs to be refurbished everywhere and rethink how you cook and present your food with these changes potentially could be a great hotel.
However staff were lovely helpful and welcoming.
Do not think I would stay there again unless they make some changes as it stands not worth the money the are charging.
Great hotel great area
Friendly staff, clean room and excellent shower. The pool and spa is great.
The mattress in my room was a little uncomfortable and may need replacing. The lift is very slow.
Good view. Polite staff. Liked the sauna and jacuzzi. Good food. Nice garden. The hotel seemed clean and had a bit of character to it. Stairs from the garden directly to the beach. We really enjoyed our stay.
Long wait for our table for dinner. Nothing to do with the hotel, but there were a lot dogs on the beach and areas of the path were not very clean as a result.
Couldn’t fault the Friendly staff, clean room, nice breakfast
Dinner service was slow. Almost 50 mins from ordering to getting my meal. Then the quality was not great. Salmon over cooked and new potatoes obviously reheated in a microwave- awful.
I was glad it was just one nights stay.
The impressive staircase was worth the room rate alone ,it has a lovely beech front location and I will 100% stay here again if I come back to visit.
I wish the room was a bit warmer
Fantastic atmosphere - an 'old' hotel that has been thoughtfully modernised. As a sea swimmer I was delighted that facilities include a pool, sauna, hydro-pool (plus a fully-stocked gym) - I was not expecting this, nor how welcoming the gym staff are! The rooms are clean and modern, facilities are impressive, and the meals (and the views from the dining-room) are wonderful. It exceeded my expectations, and I will be returning.
The only issue is with parking but I understand there is free access to a long-term carpark within a 5 minute walk.
Top notch always amazing
View, breakfast and room all good.
Pool too cold, mentions after a first ten minute swim. Didn’t use second day too cold. Will be booking again next year.
Pool too cold on both days
It is well situated. Sadly the weather was dreadful
The refurbishment has been done on the cheap. Our room had this unattractive scaffolding outside which was very disappointing. The hotel wasn’t full. We could have been given another room. It felt like an old age home!
Great stay
Spa facilities needs improving
