Have stayed many times so knew what to expect and The George delivers !
Pros:

Despite a huge menu ( which I always find suspect) the food quality was pretty good.

Cons:

The dining room could do with some acoustic absorption ( hard floors and ceilings) as it gets pretty noisy. When I commented to a member of staff their response was 'its Saturday ' - OK, yes but ...

Lovely!
Pros:

Comfortable, clean, and friendly. Perfect base as a solo female traveller to explore the Peak District by public transport and on foot. Food is excellent!

Cons:

WiFi patchy but to be honest, I didn’t mind! An excuse not to check my work phone :)

Style over comfort
Pros:

Stylish decor in a great location, with a cosy atmosphere and excellent food.

Cons:

The bed was extremely firm and uncomfortable, and I was unable to sleep.

I had booked a family room and requested an additional bed for my child in advance via Booking.com. This request was confirmed prior to arrival. However, when I arrived, I was informed that no extra beds were available due to the busy Easter period, and my child had to share a bed with me.

I was told this would be acceptable as the bed was “super king size,” but it was in fact a standard double, making the situation even more uncomfortable. I was then advised that I should have contacted the hotel directly, despite having already received confirmation through the booking platform.

Overall, the experience was frustrating due to the lack of consistency and poor communication regarding my booking.
