The Lady C Bronte suit is so good with the stained glass window and bathtub. We felt like royalty for the night!
Food was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. The George has been taken over since our last visit and has continued to maintain its high standards in every respect. We first stayed at The George in August1991 and have been several times over the years.
Great old coaching inn, staff were friendly and attentive, the food was amazing and the village is a great place to stay.
Nothing
Food staff / location
The beds are very hard no topper
Friendly staff . Good food particularly breakfast
Location in town really nice. Room nicely furnished.
Portable air conditioning unit in room very noisy. Room was very warm without the unit switched on. Room above garden bar area. Breakfast was very disappointing - it was included in package but from the menu it looked very overpriced. No choice to have cereals or toast. The waitress was not that helpful at breakfast. Porridge came with a jam/fruit already mixed and was very sweet. Need to improve choices.
We had an all too short stay at the George (one night before our son's graduation) and have already decided we want to go back for a longer stay.
It was delightful 😊
The bed was massive and so comfortable. The shower over the bath very powerful and the toiletries smelled divine.
I had dinner and it was very tasty and well presented.
The longbow app is marvelous for discounts, free gin and tonic, what's not to like?
The staff are very welcoming.
My husband said the beer wasn't well kept . He had to return a pint of Jaipur as it had turned vinegary and the others were not to good either.
Location, atmosphere, decor, staff are so attentive. Plenty of GF options on the menu, food was served to a very high standard and extremely tasty!!!’
Prices of the room per night are very expensive, although we got a last minute deal for a standard room.
Great location and lovely food and welcome.
Breakfast service was very relaxed. Food was great when it came.
Excellent location and good breakfast
For the price we paid the room, it had no air con and it was sooooooooooooo hot. They provided a below par fan and due to this had to open the bedroom windows which was very loud with passing cars due to being on the main road, so we had a terrible sleep. Again for the price, having to pay for coffee at breakfast was liberty.
Food & Accommodation outstanding. Staff fabulous.
Beds were like sleeping on a slab of concrete 😴
The location, the staff (Lewis)
I am 80 and my wife 78. We arrived at 22.30 (after a wedding) even appropriate)during very hot weather. The welcome was good but when we went to the room it was very ‘stuffy’ and stifling hot (31 deg C). No air con, small fan and windows only partially opening. It was not possible to remain in the room safely in my opinion. We were shown an alternative room but this was if anything worse from a heat perspective which Lewis, the senior onsite staff member, agreed. After further discussion with no viable solution forthcoming we decided to abort any check-in and drive home (100 miles) since the car at least had air conditioning. Lewis was unable to offer any refund ( which we think would have been appropriate) but agreed to discuss with management if we could move the reservation to a later date as an alternative and let us know. We have yet to get a response.
Boom of electronic bass & drum in sound system under my room going on until 11pm, preventing me from getting to sleep. Something really should be done about this dismal piped 'music'.
Breakfast
Working out how to charge the electric car. Getting (yet another) app downloaded took time.
