Central location
Nothing
Despite a huge menu ( which I always find suspect) the food quality was pretty good.
The dining room could do with some acoustic absorption ( hard floors and ceilings) as it gets pretty noisy. When I commented to a member of staff their response was 'its Saturday ' - OK, yes but ...
Beautiful hotel in the heart of Hathersage. Complimentary room upgrade. Lovely restaurant and lounge area. Great location for exploring the area, we used the train.

Character
Continual road noise. Wait time at dinner and breakfast. Dusty room.
Beautiful room , very welcoming receptionist and very good staff and the food was fabulous
Nothing really couldn’t be more happy with everything
Friendly and good value
The George Hotel is wonderful, with warm friendly staff.
Comfortable, clean, and friendly. Perfect base as a solo female traveller to explore the Peak District by public transport and on foot. Food is excellent!
WiFi patchy but to be honest, I didn’t mind! An excuse not to check my work phone :)
Stylish decor in a great location, with a cosy atmosphere and excellent food.
The bed was extremely firm and uncomfortable, and I was unable to sleep.
I had booked a family room and requested an additional bed for my child in advance via Booking.com. This request was confirmed prior to arrival. However, when I arrived, I was informed that no extra beds were available due to the busy Easter period, and my child had to share a bed with me.
I was told this would be acceptable as the bed was “super king size,” but it was in fact a standard double, making the situation even more uncomfortable. I was then advised that I should have contacted the hotel directly, despite having already received confirmation through the booking platform.
Overall, the experience was frustrating due to the lack of consistency and poor communication regarding my booking.
Very clean. Great location and friendly staff

Excelllent service
Quality of food was superb
Great location, great for free car park on site, lovely historic building, staff friendly, professional & helpful - food in the evening delicious & a nice cocktail menu
Bed mattress hard & pillows tired, flat & worn (not great for a ‘superior room’, any room really)- small point, nowhere to put personal toiletries in the bathroom & no bathroom cups for toothpaste etc -
Nice spacious room
Hot water was not hot enough to use the bath although the shower was hot (different taps).
