Will return, but when there’s a deal to be found!!!
Pros:

Location, atmosphere, decor, staff are so attentive. Plenty of GF options on the menu, food was served to a very high standard and extremely tasty!!!’

Cons:

Prices of the room per night are very expensive, although we got a last minute deal for a standard room.

Beautiful Hathersage
Pros:

Excellent location and good breakfast

Cons:

For the price we paid the room, it had no air con and it was sooooooooooooo hot. They provided a below par fan and due to this had to open the bedroom windows which was very loud with passing cars due to being on the main road, so we had a terrible sleep. Again for the price, having to pay for coffee at breakfast was liberty.

Heatwave casualty
Pros:

The location, the staff (Lewis)

Cons:

I am 80 and my wife 78. We arrived at 22.30 (after a wedding) even appropriate)during very hot weather. The welcome was good but when we went to the room it was very ‘stuffy’ and stifling hot (31 deg C). No air con, small fan and windows only partially opening. It was not possible to remain in the room safely in my opinion. We were shown an alternative room but this was if anything worse from a heat perspective which Lewis, the senior onsite staff member, agreed. After further discussion with no viable solution forthcoming we decided to abort any check-in and drive home (100 miles) since the car at least had air conditioning. Lewis was unable to offer any refund ( which we think would have been appropriate) but agreed to discuss with management if we could move the reservation to a later date as an alternative and let us know. We have yet to get a response.

Cons:

Boom of electronic bass & drum in sound system under my room going on until 11pm, preventing me from getting to sleep. Something really should be done about this dismal piped 'music'.

Lovely location, nice room but could’ve been better
Pros:

Lovely location, staff friendly, room nicely decorated, good breakfast selection. The bath was great and filled quickly.

Cons:

Bed was huge but really uncomfortable making it hard to sleep. Would be been nice to have conditioner in the toiletries offer and a fridge in the room. The window didn’t close properly so was woken a few times in the night by traffic as our room was on the front. There didn’t appear to be any offer of any room service.

Staff keen and enthusiastic but the hotel and meal are overpriced
Pros:

Cooked English was good

Cons:

We waited longer than other guests despite a straight forward order. The mashed advicado carried enough chilli to be guacamole- too much for breakfast and the coffee was poor.
The designated smoking area is immediately outside the front door, with the doors to the outside eating area also open there is a through draught that carries the secondhand smoke through the tables in the line of fire.
The room was adjacent to the kitchen area and very noisy, it was also hot and the radio alarm went off at 02:00. Perhaps the work of a bit of a joker occupying the room previously.

The George is the perfect stop for any occasion that involves food, relaxation and celebration
Pros:

We absolutely loved the relaxed atmosphere it has, we loved the food, it was also a very clean place and they really spruced our room up nicely. The staff were very welcoming and accommodating. They all had a very kind and friendly manner and were always happy to see us. We would especially like to thank Vicky the receptionist for her very kind and warm personality and her helpful and friendly service. We spoke to her on the phone prior to coming and had some lovely conversations at the venue itself. This was a very special visit for us because it was our honeymoon. My bride really enjoyed staying here. So it is the perfect place for newly weds to wind down and enjoy each other.

Cons:

The only thing I would point out is that the mattresses on the beds are very firm. We are used to sleeping on a mattress which is firm with softness on top. It might be a hybrid mattress. That’s probably the only thing we would change.

Lovely property and staff. Rooms need a fan in hot weather but are beautifully decorated
Pros:

Location convenient but as expected next to a busy road

Cons:

We booked last minute and had a room accessed next to the kitchen very much back of house and had to close windows as road noise and with no air con or fan the room was very stuffy.
