I got into Houma late and didn't arrive at the hotel until 10pm. When I got to the location it was dark, no lights, no cars in the parking lot. The place look like it was abandon/closed down. I went and park at the general dollar store next door and call the hotel but i could not get through. The call would just hang up. So I call hotel.com and let them know my situation. They also try to call the hotel with no respond. The person whom I was working with was able to accommodate and moved us to another hotel. I thought everything was good until I got a charge from Howard Johnson. Im confused if they are still in business...
Do not stay at this hotel. They are scammers and honestly the whole staff looks suspect. I stayed there what was suppose to be 5 nts in February, turned into 1 nt of hell. At checkin I was informed that the system that makes the room keys was down and they had to manually open my room door with what appeared to be a handheld key card (master key). The front desk informed me that because of this anytime I needed to get in my room that would have to walk me to the door and open it for me. Okay, I guess. The very next day after spending a day outdoors upon my arrival back I noticed alot of people outside. When I went inside I was informed that all of the doors were locked due to the system being down and even the box that was previously used the day before was not working. I sat outside of the hotel for about 3.5 hrs waiting for a so called repair man to come and fix the problem. To my surprise the repair man did show but it was the front desk rep’s son. He was not a real repair man and he didn’t fix the problem. The only way to get in the rooms at this point was to pry the door open with a crowbar. After being in the hallway for about 20mins waiting for him and another guy to pry my door door he told me to put something in it because if it closes it will be locked again. Enough said. i packed my belongings and went to the front desk to check out. I was not staying another night there. As a female traveling alone, it was not safe for me to stay in a room that the door had just been pried open with a crowbar. As i’m talking to the lady at the front desk I asked for the managers information and she wouldn’t give it to me. She said that she can’t give that information. Another gentlemen that was also checking out, provided the information to me. Of course he was another race! But anyway after spending 20mins at the front desk and receiving a copy of my receipt signed by the front desk with my checkout date I had to reserve a room at another hotel which was almost 2x more than this one because it was Mardi Gras.
I’m still trying to get a refund from the hotel and no one ever answers the phone. They have denied my refund thru Priceline so now my next action if I don’t receive a refund from my bank will be to contact a lawyer. They’ve been lien saying it was a power outage which caused the system to be down. There was no power outage. I have pictures and a video of the gentleman using a crowbar to open the door and have documented this whole experience. I should have known better, when I previously satyed here they charged me a smoking fee of $250 when I didn’t smoke in the room. They are rude and very unprofessional.
The room was okay. I was told it would take 15 business day to get the damage deposit back. It is now 23 business day and no deposit returned. I called the hotel and was told to send an email. I've sent 2 emails with no response. If they are not going to refund the damage deposit, they need to state it is a nonrefundable damage deposit.
Absolutely disgusting, no one was at the counter and the phone was left as well. So when we called while standing to check in no one answered. Once we were finally checked in; we were told there’s no smoking in the hotel only to be assaulted with the smell of weed all down the hall. The room was gross, dirt or mold all on the walls and the whole place just is not maintained at all. We left immediately.
The girl at the counter charged my card twice without telling me. I was not made aware that they were charging my card only that they needed a card on file. (Standard enough) However she charged $50 the first time for a “refundable” deposit and again for $11.55 saying that the first scan didn’t work. Currently trying to get refunded for over $120 for a disgusting room that we didn’t stay in for more than 2 minutes. Fraudulent activity!!
They pulled a crackhead move on me last night trying to get extra money from me saying that i was smoking in the room which i never did i smoked in my car of course the smoked lingers everyone looks like they on Crystal Met the whole building need to be tore down just from the outside of it you got that little extra money from me you go need it when your life starts falling apart from lying to gain smh
Property has still almost 3 weeks later not returned the $50 deposit we put up. Owners have yet to return my calls to the property. Make sure you check your accounts after check out people. Thank goodness we called our bank today. The room was actually not bad. There was trash and food left in the garbage cans and on the Thursday night of check in someone tried to come into our room 2 times after midnight. The front desk said it was them. But they never said why? Lastly we had to listen to LOUD music from next door until 1:30am!! I called the police since the front desk would not answer the phone. I was traveling with my 74 year old mother who has Early Onset Dementia. After that we left.
Had to wait 15 min on some one to come to front desk an also hotel charged my credit card 50 more dollars than I paid Expedia for rm . Lady at front desk said this was a security deposit an tht I would get it back but it could take up to 3 weeks , wouldn’t have paid it but Expedia had allready gotten my money for room an I didn’t want to loose it , needless to say I will not come back!
Everything was great and I’ll definitely be back real soon. Thanks for asking and you all have amazing day
The bathroom smelled like a public rest room. Opening the room door you get hit with stale cigarette smoke immediately.Room appeared visually clean, but the smell was very unpleasant, I feel like a longer stay would make your luggage stink. It's been awhile since I only had a thin blanket and a sheet for bedding. Compared to other hotels in this price range this was poor. Won't stay here again because there's better in Houma for what I paid here.
Overcharged during check-in and wouldn’t / couldn’t refund me.
Had issues trying to pay for room. Could not change to handicap because I booked online. Had issues with key card, tv didn’t work so had to change rooms only to have that tv not working either.
Terrible I couldn’t even lock my room when I left because the key card entry didn’t work
Quite and clean
I was unable to stay at this hotel for this reservation due to their keycard system was down and they were unable to get into the rooms. I was also informed that someone was trapped in their room and unable to get out! Was told I would receive a refund by the hotel and now over a week later am still fighting for said refund! Never staying here again. I have stayed at this hotel previously and had no complaints however this was ridiculous!
No key also u gotta leave unlocked too.
Terrible stay
Good
We asked for more back towels and they said they did not have any wash through the night give us clean towels so we need more towels in the room when they have more than one person in a room
This Howard Johnson hotel in Houma. Louisiana was terrible at checking. Completely unprofessional and she looked like she may be taking something It was horrible no key codes for you to get in your rooms. They had to use the custodian to open and close your doors. Housekeeping was 1 person. Manager, who was housekeeping as well And they completely charge my Credit card of two hundred and fifty dollars
My reservation was cancelled same day I arrive. I had to find a hotel to stay at I will never book with hotel.com or book with Howard Johnson ever again. It’s not what they say and I don’t recommend to no one
