Pros:

Hôtel très agréable, confortable, jolie décoration.
Près du centre ville qui est assez attractif.
Bon resraurant sur place qui propose entre autres, un bon choix de viandes grillées.
Très bon petit déjeuner.

Beautiful property for Architectural Digest lovers
Pros:

beautiful property with its old fashioned charm, stunning scenery with vineyards and mountains around.

Cons:

we were assigned a different room category in an outside building, after complaint we got the room we booked, unfortunately with a view to the street, not towards beautiful mountains we came for, travelling there from Europe.
The hotel offers only an option to book a half board. The in-house restaurant could have been better, not a gourmet type of cuisine.

Very cozy and pleasant hotel in the heart of Franschhoek with the friendliest and most helpful staff
Pros:

Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was great, I had breakfast only during my stay due to my group activities, but dinner and steaks looked delicious. Location is very convenient, centered within Franschhoek main street and close to all the shops, restaurants, wine tram, etc.

Cons:

The main thing I didn't like was the privacy of my room, but I understand this is how the hotel vibe was. The room door was actually sliding glass doors looking over the corridor and pool, and the same with the 2 smaller windows. So I always had to have the curtains closed, and no way to get natural light in the room without sacrificing privacy.

a pleasant stay with lovely staff who couldnt do enough
Pros:

The property looked better online

The breakfast took ages to be prepared

I saw a live cockroach in my room

The bathroom needs updating but the shower had excellent pressure

During the night there was a constant on/off sound of a generator which was disturbing

Hip, central, and incredibly comfortable!
Pros:

We had a fantastic stay at the Protea Hotel Franschhoek. The location is absolutely perfect—right in the heart of town, making it incredibly easy to explore all the local shops and galleries on foot.

The hotel features a super hip and stylish interior that gives it a great, modern vibe. Our room was excellent, especially the bed, which was incredibly comfortable and ensured a perfect night’s sleep. The food was another highlight of our stay; the breakfast selection was delicious with plenty of variety, and our dinner at the hotel restaurant was equally impressive.

If we ever return to this area, we would definitely stay here again. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a central, trendy, and comfortable base in Franschhoek!

Other than the convenience, there is limited options. No teaspoons and orders takes long. The rooms are great and hotel located within walking distance of more restaurants for options
