Breakfast not included and expensive
I stayed here for two nights and had a great experience. The staff were really friendly and welcoming, and check-in was quick and easy. The room was clean, comfortable, and had everything I needed.
The location was convenient, and breakfast was a nice bonus with plenty of options. Overall, it was a really pleasant stay, and I'd definitely come back if I'm in the area again. Highly recommend!

Booked two nights through Chase The Edit and had a great experience from start to finish. We arrived from Haneda in about 25 minutes by Uber, and the hotel’s location is excellent, with covered pedestrian access directly to Shinagawa Station.
Check-in at 3:00 p.m. was quick and seamless. Our upgraded corner king room was ready on arrival. Like many hotels in Japan, the room wasn’t huge, and it felt a bit tight with four suitcases, but it was modern, well-designed, and comfortable. The bed was excellent, the bathroom was spacious with a tub/shower combination, and the bedside lighting controls were a thoughtful touch.
The fitness center is on the small side—it appears to be converted from a couple of guest rooms—but it has enough equipment for a solid workout, including treadmills, bikes, cable machines, and free weights.
Breakfast, dining, and the executive lounge are all conveniently located on the 26th floor. The food was consistently good, and the staff throughout the hotel were friendly and efficient.
One of the best perks of booking through Chase The Edit was the $100 (¥16,400) property credit. Since the hotel doesn’t have a spa, we used it at the on-site Chinese restaurant, China Shadow. The dim sum set was excellent, and the service from Kabotera was truly exceptional—attentive, professional, and one of the highlights of our stay.
Overall, The Strings InterContinental is a polished, well-run hotel with a fantastic location, comfortable rooms, and excellent service. I’d happily stay here again and would recommend it to both business and leisure travelers.

After 17 hours of flying from Alaska and train from Narita we had a smooth check-in with excellent and friendly staff and right to a perfect night’s sleep! The next morning we had breakfast at the Club lounge that was a quiet and enjoyable atmosphere with a special shout out to the Excellent staff especially Aye and Mattsura (sp)
My family recently stayed a few nights at the Intercontinental Strings. The hotel is located in a building next to Shinagawa Station. That makes it very easy to get to or from Haneda Airport via the subway. Shinagawa is also on the Yamanote line, which provides additional access to the rest of the city. Guests require a key card to access the elevators in the lobby that take them to the guest room floors, a nice touch. The rooms are well-appointed with closets to accommodate bags and clothes. The bathrooms have both a walk-in shower and tub. The breakfast buffet has both Japanese and western dishes.
This hotel is just perfect. The staff here is very polite, professional and accommodating. On the day of the departure, we had them arrange a taxi to the airport and they even helped us with our multiple bags and escorted us to the cab when it arrived so we didn’t have to wait outside in the hot climate.
The location is very convenient. Covered walkway all the way from Shinagawa station to the hotel.
We tried the breakfast buffet and it didn’t disappoint. The menu was slightly different the next day so we got to try different dishes and they service French press coffee.
Overall, amazing experience, great location and delicious food. This hotel has it all and we would definitely stay here again!
Hotel was great. Staff was excellent. My wife loved the automatic sliding door by the elevator. The decor was nice.

The Highlights of Our Stay
Unmatched Hospitality: A massive, heartfelt thank you to the Director of Rooms, Takahashi and Exec Lounge Staff Date & Srinaj. They truly went above and beyond, going completely out of his way to accommodate our request and my incredibly picky eater child. That level of personalized care is so rare and meant the world to us.
The Club Floor: Spending time on the Club Floor was excellent. The atmosphere, service, and attention to detail were top-tier.
Spacious Luxury: Our room was wonderfully spacious, and we absolutely loved the premium Byredo amenities—a beautiful touch!
Attentive & Flawless Service
We arrived quite late on our first night and noticed the room was a bit noisy, as you could hear the subway. Because we were only staying for two nights, we didn't want the hassle of switching rooms. I sent a quick email requesting earplugs instead the next day. The responsiveness of the staff was immediate and seamless. It proved to us just how dedicated the IHG team is to guest comfort.
Pro-Tip for Future Guests
If you are traveling with a small child or are a light sleeper, request a room located away from the subway side when booking.

It was the end of our 3 week trip and we wanted to finish on a high with a luxury hotel , so we chose the Intercontinental, The Strings, and it certainly delivered.
We chose it for a number of reasons:
1. The proximity of the hotel to Shinagawa station.
2. Ease of access to different transit options during our stay.
3. The reviews about the hotel and of the Club Lounge.
4. The proximity of the hotel to Haneda Airport, by taxi or train.
We travelled on the Shinkansen from Hiroshima to Shinagawa, having used the luggage transfer service. The train arrived at 14:40hrs and we were standing at the reception desk on the 26th floor at 15:00hrs. Our room was ready and better still, our luggage was already there.
All the staff are very helpful and we were given a great room on the 27th floor, which was spacious and included a free mini bar and Club Lounge access.
The Club Lounge had great views over the city and a lovey Afternoon tea , canapés and drinks in the evening. The selection was very nice as were the drinks offerings. All the staff were very good, but Fuko Kashii, really stood out as someone who wanted to make our stay memorable and she looked after us exceptionally well in the Lounge.
We ate breakfast in the restaurant and we loved the selection of food on offer. Service was always excellent.
When leaving, reception arranged a taxi for us, which arrived early at 05:15hrs and only took 25 minutes to Haneda T3 and it cost us £32, which we thought was excellent value.
This hotel was an ideal way to finish our fantastic trip.
Easy walk from Shinagawa station to the hotel. Staff were amazing and so was the room including a firm but comfortable bed. We also enjoyed the bar on our final night.
Coffee maker was leaky and the shower handle faucets came off but nothing major
We felt genuinely welcomed from the minute we entered the hotel. The rooms were spotless, the beds and pillows were super comfortable and the bathroom was well equipped with amenities and plush bath towels.
Better signage directing guests to the hotel could assist travellers arriving from Shibuya train station
