Pros:

They went above and beyond, we celebrated our engagement and they made the stay amazing. From the booking process to the stay. There was an issue with a double booked room... Sorted in a matter of minutes. Beautiful grounds, great food, lovely rooms.

Pros:

The staff were great, especially the receptionist on check in. the evening meal was super tasty, complements to the chef.
The photo of the room booked was not what I was allocated, it was advertised as a deluxe sweet but we were in a courtyard room which was plainly decorated and just a lot of light brown wooden furniture which felt more like an office, this was very disappointing , The booking photo showed a light colourful spacious room with a luxurious deco. The mattress was hard, I cant say firm even! And I like a firm mattress. there were no seperate showers so we had to step into a bath and we both slipped slightly doing so. The A/C was pretty rubbish and made the room just about bearable in the evening, another disappointment.
The hotel is in a lovley setting and looks grand on arrival.
Strangely the evening meal was super tasty but the cooked brakfast was quite unpleasant. The bacon and sausages were of poor quality and im not sure what they did to the scrambled egg to make it taste the way it did, definitely not what you would exspect for £20 a head.

The Best Hotel
Pros:

Easy to find. Plenty of free parking. Good size and very clean room. Adjustable air conditioning in the very hot weather was fantastic. Good selection and quality breakfast. Staff friendly and helpful.

Cons:

Restaurant food, and bar drinks prices a little high. Some difficulty at first to find our way around - perhaps a map/schematic of the hotel and grounds (to include nearby public rights of way) could be issued to new guests on check in.

5 stars amazing
Pros:

We got married at Oakley Hall 4 years ago so went back for our Anniversary. We were so pleased with the staff and always find no where compares to the service you get at Oakley. In particular Joel was amazing with both visits to the restaurant. He made it feel such a special occasion, real credit to the company! Highly recommended a stay at Oakley Hall.

Beautiful location but maybe give the restaurant a miss
Pros:

Buffet breakfast was okay but that food is never hot. Lovely location in beautiful grounds - very serene. Very nice welcome at reception but then we were left to move all our luggage by ourselves as the staff seemed to be more focused on managing a wedding reception than on arriving guests. We found it difficult to get upstairs in the lift as staff were using it to move items around for the wedding party, Room was comfortable with a lovely view over the grounds.

Cons:

The downside for us was our dining experiences. Breakfast was okay and eggs could be cooked to order but the layout of the buffet was messy with guests getting in each others way all the time. We had been advised on arrival to book a table if we wanted dinner on any night during our stay - so we did. There were only two other bookings with about forty free tables so not quite sure why the booking was so necessary. The first table we were directed to had us sitting under a light that displayed more dead flies in the base of it than actual light. We asked to move and given that there were so many empty tables...... There were dirty, dusty plants in the dining room - why couldn't they have had just a few fresh ones? Too much to look after? We were offered the wine list and when it was brought over we opened it to find nothing inside - that was an error that could so easily have been checked especially as they were clearly not busy on the night. There were a lot of flies in the dining room and both ourselves and the table nearest us had guests swatting way manically to keep the things off the food. Pork croquettes were not at all what either of us were expecting. Food seemed a bit inconsequential given all the other concerns about the room we were in.

Gorgeous!
Pros:

What a lovely hotel and a delightful place to have spent my birthday. A beautiful drive up from the road to the hotel and then be given our beautiful room at the centre back with glorious views, it was stunning and we couldn’t have asked for better. On returning after a drink on the terrace we found gorgeous chocolate dipped strawberries awaiting us with a note from the hotel for my birthday, so very much appreciated. The meal that evening, although slightly limited with a set price for 2/3 courses from an ‘eat anytime’ menu was fabulous although I do like my steaks but surprisingly for a hotel of this calibre, was not an option. The landscaped simple gardens with a wonderful woodland walk was lovely but a must is a visit to the walled kitchen garden, tended by just one head gardener who took immense pride in his work and achieving a beautiful manicured immaculate and pretty garden. A pleasure to visit. The reception staff were very welcoming and friendly as were the staff in the restaurant. This was a ‘Secret Escape’ offer, of which we have done about 45/50 escapes and I can honestly say it lived up to the ethos of that company and I am looking forward to returning. Thank you SE and Oakley Hall Hotel

overall, it‘s a pleasant stay but disappointed by food served and lack of anything to do there
Pros:

the property was great - well maintained and nice decor and spacious rooms and we especially liked the beautiful wooded grounds

Cons:

there‘s nothing to do at the property - no facilities at all, not even boardgames or any activities we could pay to participate, but the most important issues were that the food was very disappointing, from breakfast to dinner: hard n dry bacons, rubbery scrambled eggs, a handful of skewer-thin asparagus as first course, dry n hard pork belly, potatoes were more boring and mediocore than our home-cooked ones…. and that most staffers were not properly trained - they were polite and pleasant enough.

Wonderful Anniversary Stay
Pros:

My husband & I spent our wedding night at this wonderful hotel. We decided to go back for our 5th anniversary last week. We cannot express how impressed we were after our stay.
We know the food & the grounds are fantastic, having stayed before and eaten here several times. However with this stay what stood out and made memories was the staff. They were truly amazing, we were made to feel special and nothing we asked for was too much trouble. One staff member Rhianna hadn’t been working there long but was so naturally helpful, she was an asset to their team. I’d recommend any one visiting for either a meal or an overnight stay you won’t be disappointed

Surprise 40th - afternoon tea
Pros:

We had a surprise 40th birthday afternoon tea at Oakley Hall today with the lovely Kiarna and it was fantastic. We contacted the hotel beforehand to check we could decorate the table beforehand and they were very accommodating. Kiarna was brilliant, ensuring we were happy beforehand with everything and then when we arrived later for the surprise she was really helpful, explained the menu and ensured we had a great time throughout. Excellent service 10/10 and the lovely surprise after with the birthday song and cake was perfect. She's a credit to the team!

Good value, nice location.....
Pros:

We had a nice 1 night stay here, better than we thought it might be. A converted mansion house, it's very nicely done. We had a really good-sized room with a very nice bathroom and walk in shower and, with breakfast, was c. 150 GBP a night, which we thought was very good value. The staff were pleasant and everything worked. It's located in a rural setting so you eat inhouse or drive somewhere; we chose just to eat out except for breakfast. Breakfast was OK, not brilliant, and service was a little slow. This place is clearly geared to the function market, but we'd go back if we wanted a good value stay in a nice location.

The hotel which knows what service is
Pros:

I last wrote about this hotel 2011 and I mentioned it was in a
Class of its own. I have no reason to change that view

Although there has been changes over the years it. still retains that feeling of your visit is something special
