Beautiful location. Hotel extremely well maintained. Lovely rooms and the staff were excellent.
There is nothing that we didn’t like!
We stayed one night and had a lovely time walking the grounds and enjoying the atmosphere. Couldn’t really fault the hotel and staff were lovely!
We came for dinner to celebrate my son’s birthday and had a wonderful experience. The food was amazing, with very generous portions, but what really makes this place special are the beautiful grounds and, even more so, the outstanding staff. Joel, the restaurant manager, was fantastic, and they even surprised my son by bringing out a birthday cake. It was such a thoughtful touch and made the evening feel truly personal. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a beautiful evening meal with excellent service and genuine attention to detail.
Perfect wedding venue. Everything classy, yet cosy and convenient
The staffing seemed a bit sparse on Easter weekend so waiting around to be served at times. This was however apologised for frequently.
Amazing hotel. Great staff and breakfast
Noisy
Just left Oakley Hall, we visited with our three pugs (two rooms).
Lovely hotel, friendly attentive staff, clean, welcoming and dog friendly.
I spent some time (despite the drizzle) walking around the grounds and found some other areas outside to venture with the dogs. Loved it. Partridge by my car first thing in the morning and squirrels all over :)
4 course evening meal in the Glasshouse restaurant, delicious. Actually quite good prices also, where else can you get 3 courses for £38? That is one course in our local, we went for their “while you wait” course also and had some chive/onion scones I think they were OMGoodness they are a must.
Only misgiving was the bed, courtyard room 1 - I found the bed uncomfortable - BUT, I have a spinal condition and therefore ultra sensitive with probably 80% beds not right - so I can not mark down for that!
The hotel was really quiet which we liked, Easter Friday, so I expect it will get busy over the weekend now a wedding party was arriving.
Anyway, thank you and especially thank you to the man who did the bar and then breakfast next day - he is lovely, as were all staff, a real asset to a lovely place.
Staff were very helpful and lovely.
The food was exceptional - we had dinner and breakfast there and both were brilliant. We had skrie cod and porcetta as mains with rhubarb and custard brulee and coconut pannacotta for dessert. Excellent value.
Room was huge and very clean and comfortable.
The grounds were extensive and great for a walk - we even saw a deer.
Nothing. It was all good.
The hotel as a whole.
Very limited menu in my opinion, lots of fish. Room a little chilly despite radiators on.
After a hard week of of helping someone move house we were looking forward to a relaxing short stay at this much vaunted 'Country House Hotel'. However the check was stressful and breakfast disappointing.
We arrived late and checked in abot 9.30pm - Took all our luggage to reception and were informed we had a room in the 'Courtyard'.....Could we walk there we asked ...we were advised to take our luggage back to the car and drive there ....(Not good) - We lumped our luggage back to the car and on the basis of intructions given to us at reception proceeded to get lost in a dead end and a car park...Eventually found the court yard but had to open a gate...which eventually - only after contacting reception again..opened ......A magical mystery tour....Room seemingly OK....Reception called us to see if we hade made it...was told we could access the main hotel for breakfast in the morning from the 'Courtyard' through a white door...Woke up and found all the doors in the Courtyard were all white....Shower in the room was OK for the first person but for the second person distinctly luke warm and cooling rapidly. Bath attachments loose on the wall. Premier Inn style shower and shampoo....
Found the correct door from the Courtyard to the main Hotel.....Breakfast was a disappointing buffet - Like the shower distinctly 'lukewarm'....Plates provided for the buffet had clearly not gone through the dishwasher properly and some were dirty...Freshly cooked breakfast was available but for various options which did not include a straight forward English cooked breakfast...
Discovered the walk from the Courtyard to Reception was not too far so goodness knows why we had been advised to lug our luggage back in the car on check in and embark on a mission to find the Courtyard rooms by car!!!
All in all an expensive experience which we could have had at a local Premier Inn without driving around trying to find our room.
Avoid
location was good.
cold eggs and bacon on buffet breakfast bar.
Breakfast was great and the overall experience was exceptional. Excellent venue for my sons wedding
