We have been coming here for nearly 20 years as we stayed here not long after I met my wife and we also got married here in 2020 which was a lovely day. We have always had lovely stays and the staff and rooms have been great but we stayed a few days ago and it seem to have gone more corporate, which I believe is due to new owners, buffet breakfast now instead of freshly cooked breakfast brought to you, no fresh milk in the fridge, menu not clear. All in all a disappointing stay for my 40th birthday and our wedding anniversary and we won’t be coming back whilst it’s in its current form, which is such a shame as it’s always been a lovely place. I also sent them an email expressing my disappointment and they just ignored it and didn’t even give me the courtesy of acknowledging the email.
Such a shame Oakley Hall! You have lost some loyal customers.
Superb because of the quality produce usef
Would have liked a bathrobe and slippers, seemed very tight on things like milk in the room and biscuits given the price paid
I wanted to write a review and say thank you so much for hosting my family hen do afternoon tea.
Our experience, service, food, area and staff were all brilliant and we had such a lovely afternoon.
Plenty of good quality food and catered to all our needs and dietary requirements.
I was a little sceptical upon booking, as none of us had ever been to Oakley Hall Hotel, but we were so impressed. The location was stunning and the restaurant was modern and chic. We will definitely be back again in the future.
Thank you!
Everything
Nothing
This hotel has got the wow factor. From the moment you enter til the moment you leave everthing is just wow. If you want luxury then this is the place to stay.
Didnt have breakfast but I would think it would be fantastic.
Fantastic property, with a lovely room and comfy bed. Bathroom was lovely too. Great location and friendly staff.
The restaurant staff were very friendly but could have been more attentive in the restaurant the night I stayed. Dinner included longer than expected waits because of this.
Excellent room, location, food, will return
Where do you start, the rooms are amazing and beautifully decorated. The staff are very welcoming. Our only issue was at the time of our visit there was a wedding party going on so ordinary hotel guests seemed to take second place. This meant a delayed check In and service at the bar was a bit slower than normal. As the wedding party got underway the staff attention seemed to drift back to the normal guests. We occupied one of the specialist rooms with a four poster bed in it, but the child's bed for our 5 year old had not been made up yet, so I had to travel repeatedly to the front desk to get her sleeping situation sorted out. But the next morning most of the wedding party had departed so the hotel was back to normal.
Absolutely breathtaking grounds and property. Arrived for a romantic night away. As soon as we started driving up the long sweeping drive. It was a wow!moment. Love the sympathetic elements that give this hotel a modern feel but keeping its old style. I love it!
We had a meal in the restaurant. It was good but maybe didn't match the surroundings. I was hoping for something a bit more grand than fish and chips and a 'dirty' burger.
The deluxe bedroom was lovely. The bed was super comfy and the duvet was snuggly. (So much so I want to buy one). Bathroom and room were spotless. We had bed and breakfast. We opted for the 'fry up' which was buffet style. I have to say the food wasnt very warm. Considering only 8 other people down for breakfast, it would have been nicer to have food cooked to order.
Overall I loved my stay and will be returning soon because of the hotel and grounds alone.
Absolutely beautiful property!! We stayed in the cute separate cottage at the back of the property and it was fantastic! Quaint and quiet, we had a lovely stay. Perfectly equipped, had everything we needed for our stay!
Nothing, it was dark when we got there, so it was a little tricky to find our way in the dark, but it worked out!
Generally overall the visit was quite good experience a few things need improvement ie Breakfast offer
the continental meats were very dry and old looking, cooked eggs overdone ,pastry offer poor and no fresh fruit .
Gala dinner 31st Generally good but i didn't understand the duck parfait in a yoghurt pot had to use a spoon to eat it, odd , main course tasty but quite small portion 1 stem of broccoli and a miniscule slice of pomme Anna .The knicker bocker glory was like a small trifle.
Rooms poor lighting in the bathrooms. ( winter) for ladies to see what there doing make up wise.
All staff were friendly and helpful.
The bed was comfortable. The bath was enormous. The fact that I could charge my car at the hotel at a good price.
The food in the restaurant was poor. The waiting time was unacceptable. The staff were indifferent.
The bedroom looked tired.
Beautiful venue, lovely room. Amazing food.
We had a delightful three-night Christmas getaway with my partner, parents, and our dog. Our accommodations included two charming courtyard rooms that offered beautiful views of the grounds.
The food was excellent and abundant, with the Christmas Day feast being particularly memorable, featuring hearty main traditional courses that truly satisfied with added touches.
The dining experience in the glasshouse was wonderful; it was tastefully decorated, in a bright modern theme, airy and with a Christmassy theme. Our cockapoo was welcomed in all areas, including dining with us in the glasshouse, and we also enjoyed some drinks at the 1975 bar in the evenings with our pooch.
The staff were attentive and friendly, making our family Christmas celebration feel truly special.
We also loved exploring the beautiful grounds, taking leisurely woodland walks with our furry friend.
Excellent service and the most adorable room in the courtyard. Very tranquil and gorgeous location. Our room was large and perfect. Really loved our stay.
Nothing… was perfect.
Tasteful and elegant interior and exterior .
Wow what a lovely hotel tucked in the countryside outside glamorous Basingstoke, we were there for my brothers 70th birthday and what a really lovely place, rooms were clean modern and good value. Just needed some attention to detail like broken shower tray and some USB charging points would be nice, strange breakfast arrangement & set up.
Overall a really pleasant stay and we will be back, the garden cottage looked really nice too for small family’s.
