If compare with the price is unbelievable . You get more than what you pay. Good place, good staff, everyone helpful
Me and my partner(sue)stayed there (1st-16th sept 2025),room 202 was a spa villa,(absolutely NO road traffic noise, huge bedroom and outside space to chill in,(granted)decor is tired and needs updating, but the room was spotless and service superb, all staff were friendly and helpful.
Very busy rd but you can't hear it in hotel, beach (literally)stones throw away,if yr a party animal you can get a cab(approx £7 ) to chaweng central 10 mins away,VERY busy and NOT a place for a young family(this is thailand remember)alternatively you can get a cab (again) about £7 to the fisherman's village(loads of shops &bars and a busy but more chilled vibe
All in all (in our opinion)as long as yr not expecting a 5* it's a perfectly decent hotel.
View from beachfront villa was spectacular. Staff were lovely and very helpful. Hotel is on a main road so transport can hard to sort out
The room itself was lovely but I just didn’t expect the villa access to be that open. Anyone could technically enter the villa if they wanted to via other paths.
So we came here for our honeymoon and at the time we booked it the reviews were quite good! And we got a really good price for 5 nights at the private pool villa. We were greeted with a beautiful honeymoon spread of flowers on our bed, and a full tub with flowers waiting for us. Here are a few of my thoughts after our stay!
I think some of the other reviews, specifically the state of the rooms and the breakfast are a little unfair. I cannot speak to other rooms but from ours I understood the comments about it being dated… but I honestly thought it had a rustic charm! Nothing to be bothered about, and our furniture was sturdy enough! The breakfast had a great selection honestly! We stayed in many other hotels in SEA, and this was pretty standard breakfast. They had an espresso machine, and an egg station with someone that could cook your eggs any way you like.
Like I said, I can’t speak to the other rooms, but I will say our private pool villa was absolutely worth every penny!!! We used the pool about 2-4 times a day, always refreshing and such a beautiful view of the Samui coast and ocean. It may not technically have a “beach front”, but you walk up like 5 minutes and you have a lovely beach right there. Our room was far away from the road so no sounds bothered us, it was very quiet. If you’re out late in the pools, you can even see some of the fire shows happening further away on the beach at night.
A couple of slightly negatives… I thought the staff wasn’t the most help
We stayed here for 2 weeks. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The free shuttle to the fishermen’s market and central Samui daily was very useful. We stayed in the pool villa 102 and could not fault it. It was cleaned with fresh towels and complimentary bottled water daily. Breakfast was basic but enough there was always something to eat. You could hear the traffic as it’s set on the main road but it wasn’t unbearable.
Such a peaceful place to stay! Room was such an excellent size and the private pool really made us feel like we were on our own private island. Would go back here in a heartbeat!
In the beginning of my five day day at at the resort was amazing. As the days went on, I started noticing things that in my opinion brought the value of a four star hotel resort down to about a three star rating. The blinds facing the ocean felt like they were going to fall down if I wanted to raise them up to view the ocean. The lounge chairs with the wooden wheels were broken and screwed so they won’t roll, the breakfast was not really a breakfast seem like leftovers from dinner of the night before the staff was amazing. The bath tub was beautiful, but as I looked more into it, there were cracks on the outside of the bathtub. My overall day was good. I felt it could’ve been better. It seemed like the resort could use some sort of refresh.
Arrived at the Sarann after a long day of travelling and was very disappointed. When we first got to our room we noticed the noise from the main road right behind it. We then noticed stains on our pillows and duvet cover (bodily fluids and dirt). Our bathroom didn’t look like it had been cleaned since the last people. We went to the hotel reception and asked if we could switch rooms however mom were available - so we then asked if our sheets and room could be cleaned before we went to sleep however nothing was done about it. So we made the decision to leave that night as we weren’t going to sleep in sheets that were covered in other people’s bloody fluids. However the reception lady was very nice and disgusted when we showed her the videos of our room.
Unsure why bad reviews.
Room was traditional and so clean.
Staff attentive.
No complaints from me .
Enjoyed my stay and didn't want to come home
I wish I had spent more time reading the reviews on here because they are reflective of the reality and not what I hoped it would be, or the BA website and others would have you believe.
The hotel is fundamentally tired, and while the service is ok, the two things combined mean at best its a 2* hotel. Its not luxury, premium or boutique and that is a real shame.
I imagine the rooms with their own pool are better because you aren't reliant on the main pool that is small with few loungers. The food in the restaurant was good, but the restaurant itself was disappointing and service not great. The continental breakfast was cereal. At one point a stray dog walked across the dining area. The room I had was tired and not clean, looked nothing like the images online with rose petals in the hot tub (it was empty) and intricate towel arrangements (there were none). The hotel runs alongside one of the main roads and so noise was high all night.
I knew within an hour that it wasn't what I wanted from my holiday and so I paid to move to a different hotel and had an amazing week. I am lucky that I could do that, but if my whole holiday was reliant on staying at the Sarann I would have been really disappointed.
It has the vibe of a once nice hotel that now feels more like a hostel and for some thats absolutely fine, but thats not what I paid quite a lot of money for.
Our family stayed at The Sarann for 9 days as part of a mutli centre holiday around Thailand. Overall we enjoyed our stay, the food was decent and plenty of choice on the menu. The staff are lovely, especially Tommy, Koko, Pang and Ang and as we stayed in a room with our own pool adjoined it made it a little more special. However, our visit mirrors most of the recent reviews. The decor in general is tired, as is the decking at the main entrance between the pool and our suite. Nails were sticking up from the ground and the decking itself needs replacing. The cleaning consisted more of dusting the floor and replacing the towels. The bathroom sink was never cleaned (only by us) and for a 9 night stay, our bed sheets were not changed once. Our beds were only made once by the staff, remainder of the time we made them. Not the biggest deal of course but would always expect this to be done by the cleaning crew. Plates, glasses and cutlery were only sporadically taken away, often gathering in an area outside rooms for a day or two.
On this basis, I would rate The Sarann as 3.5 star
The Sarann is located at the quiet end of the beach which is accessible from the hotel at low tide. We stayed in a Jacuzzi Villa which was spacious and private, the whole hotel is close to a busy road so there is noise from it. The pool and grounds are lovely and kept spotless. The pool villas looked nice and in hindsight we would have preferred to have stayed in one of those for the sea view. Our room was well looked after by Wandee and the bar/restaurant staff were equally helpful and friendly especially Tommy. Ang in reception is a credit to the hotel and gave us good advice when needed. We did a half day tour of Kho Samui which was well worth doing and a boat trip to the marine park again well worth doing.
The bones of the hotel are good but now somewhat tired. Food at the restaurant was lovely, staff friendly BUT apart from your initial drink you won’t be approached by any staff to get another or order a desert. Lots of road noise and our room has unfortunately backed onto the road. The views are great but you will need transport to leave the hotel as no footpaths and high speed traffic make walking impossible.
Finally, after specifically asking about a late checkout and been told yes and the price (at this point we weren’t asked to pay but told we could pay on checkout) we were unceremoniously hauled from the pool area shortly after check out time as it hadn’t been recorded on their booking system. Ensure you pay in advance and get a receipt if you want a late checkout. Whilst the manager was apologetic it doesn’t alter the Faulty Towers result
Was welcomed and view from room to overlook pool and sea is very assuring in morning through till night. Spacious room. Think mattress could be a bit softer for more of a comfort sleep.
Breakfast was ok as just think it could be a bit better but maybe it was low season. Car parking is restricted to main road so guess it can get mayhem if more cars arrive. Location was good as roughly around 20 mins to airport and main centre mall plus other places.
Would stay again for sure
Could be better, not terrible at all, but there were just quite a lot of minor details that stacked up. Could be a 5 star with enough effort and love put in to it. Certainly not a bad hotel at all, it’s just that it has so much potential to be way better. Our tv and wifi didn’t really work for the whole time, which didn’t bother us as we weren’t in the room long enough for tv & we had an esim for internet on our phones, but was a bit disappointed when checking out that the staff tried to say we damaged the remote controller (which was already like it when we arrived).
For a hotel which has won awards it was disappointing the reception is chipped and scruffy as is the bar - the traffic noise in our room kept us awake all night and the food was poor unimaginative badly presented and tasteless. The staff were on the whole helpful but the restaurant is badly understaffed and service was slow.
Just got back from a 9 night stay here. First thing straight away to say is that the location of this hotel is pretty terrible- it backs onto a frantic dual carriageway and there is thundering noise day and night...particularly bad for those cheaper rooms which back right onto it. If you are looking for peace and good sleep, forget this place, although I believe the sea view pool villas at the front are pleasant and very popular. The isolated location also means that you cannot walk anywhere and must get transport for any trips away from the hotel, we spent £180 on taxis over our stay. Good things to say- the view across the bay is wonderful, the staff are pleasant and helpful. The hotel cats Berry and Kuro are friendly! The rooms are large and pleasant if a bit tatty now. Negative things- totally unsuitable for families (the infinity pool has steep steps, nothing for kids to do). The breakfast is poor and a bit weird- recycled noodles for breakfast? Finally, Chaweng Noi beach is not what it is cracked up to be with 3 derelict buildings beachside, litter and sea can be quite rough. Overall the glossy brochure photos make the place look awesome, but it's location makes it not a good choice and the road noise gets quite unbearable. Think twice if you're looking for peace and a beautiful beach and make a different choice. 2 stars because the staff work hard and the location and lack of investment in the place over the last few years isn't their fault.
We’ve just spent a week at The Sarann hotel and loved every minute. The staff are very professional and friendly. We especially had a great bond with Natt who went above and beyond to ensure our stay and experience was second to none. Thank you to Natt and the team for an unbelievable stay. I would highly recommend this hotel. I stayed with my mum and will certainly be back. Thank you again. Hope to see you all again soon x
Unfortunately a good number of the rooms suffers very badly from road noise. Not occasional, 24/7 very busy road. No running water twice, hot or cold. Staff seemed unconcerned or willing to do much about issues raised. Basic breakfast.
Definitely 3 star hotel, tired.
