Let me just say from the onset that this HI&S is the only hotel I stay at when traveling to Hartford, CT. For more than 10yrs, I've always enjoyed a very pleasant and comfortable stay here. That said, the only reason for this review to not receive 5-stars is the Housekeeping! Not sure if this is a new thing but it's like pulling teeth to get your room completely turned down. I've stayed here on 2 separate occasions in Feb/Mar for a total of 3 1/2 weeks. The first instance happened when we returned to our room and nothing was done. We inquired w/front desk (WHO ARE AMAZING BTW) and they noted it. Next day, we had fresh towels but....get this.....the bedding was only moved to the head of the bed! I mean, they just shifted the bedding and the pillows were where we left them. What?!?! My wife took pics and showed the manager who was very apologetic and insisted she'd have it corrected and inspect the room afterwards. Day 3? fine! Day 4, back to day 1. From that point we decided it best to not have housekeeping in the room at all and elected to exchange towels daily.
This continued on our subsequent visit a week or so later - same thing - more pics - same complaint to manager = unresolved. In fact, we had left for the morning and returned around 1p when we noted to the desk that our room hadn’t been done (and there were no HK staff or carts in the halls that would indicate they were still working). I ended up returning to the room to retrieve something and saw the HK staff servicing the room right across from mine - I greeted her as I returned downstairs and informed updated the front desk. So you can understand our surprise to return after 10p to find the room hadn’t t been touched. Hi&S Manchester, your housekeeping operation is keeping you from receiving the 5-star ratings you deserve!
Now the absolute PRO here is the Front Desk/Check in crew - among the best I've experienced at ANY Hilton property. This, unfortunately, was something they couldn't control. Special shout out to Lauren, Chris, Francisco, and Toshanda - simply an exceptional crew - the get 5-STARS!!
Unfortunately, I don't believe we'll be back on our next trip to the area.
