We booked this hotel because of its pool (we have two young daughters). However during our 8 day stay this pool was too dirty, not available and blocked for 5 days.
Every day we reached out to the staff / reception and every time there were excuses and no solutions. Eventually we booked a different hotel with pool.
During our check out we made a formal complaint and asked for a compensation. At first the owner / GM denied all making it even more ridiculous. Since we stayed next door I have asked for a conversation with the owner but he wasn't available to discuss. The staff at the reception had the painful job to hear my complaint and were too scared of the owner to react or give a compensation.
The hotel itself has potential but the owner is making a mess of it. This results in a dirty pool, bottles and junk around the pool, hustlers in the beach bar and walking in the garden (lock your door) and staff that doesn't make the effort.
This was my 1st time in Jamaica, and I had a wonderful experience. The hotel provided a shuttle from the airport, there and back. The location of the hotel is great because it's right in the middle of the 9 mile beach, I could walk in either direction and find different places to hangout. As a bar person myself, the beach bar at the hotel was perfect. The staff were so friendly and accommodating, I was able to befriend them and make my stay even more special. My room was cleaned everyday. The garden apart of the hotel gave a peaceful vibe to my stay, as well as privacy. I would easily stay here again, everything was great.
This hotel has so much potential. Beautiful garden setting, pool overlooking the beach, pleasant beds.
But the reception is an absolute mess and represents the underlying state of service and maintenance. one bed did not have sheets for our daughter, the towels are very old and torn, no complaints about the lovely cleaning lady, she worked so hard and it did not feel filthy. You need to ask for beachtowels, but they dont seem to have enough for all guests. The breakfast lady obviously does not enjoy her job and unfortunately left her smile home each day. They dont feel the urge to clean up around the poolside and terrace, there were always empty bottles and waist all over the place. My husband started gathering the waist himself for our own comfort. We stayed 9 days, of which 6!!!! we could not use the swimming pool due to a lack of cleaningchemicals. Try explaining that to two little girls who could not wait to take a jump in that stunning pool each morning. We adressed it multiple times, and the ladies at the reception tried to reach the manager, but he could not be reached and no-one seemed to really care. At check out, after 5 days of false promisses that the pool issue would be solved the next day, we asked them for a solution. Some kind of compensation would be in place, but they just couldnt care less. What a pity for a place with so much potential, and what a disgrace to take your guests money without keeping to your part of the promise concerning hospitality and facilities.
One star at best. The rooms may have sustained damage during melissa - this wasnt clear but the rooms on the ground floor smell moldy. The matresses need to be desperately cleaned - smelled like sweat . The room service comes at all times - including the evening and the service at front desk is so incredibly uninterested in being in the hotel business. It seems the hotel has not system - the bar is often without bartender and is very limited. It all felt really dirty - We had a second floor room at forst - but asked to change as the bathroom smelled like sewage - but the forst floor was worse. They didnt even have a hair dryer on the ptoperty - would NEVER return
Got back from a week at this resort a few days ago. We usually go to the bigger all-inclusive resorts but this time we wanted to try smaller one where we could enjoy some of the local attractions.
The place is small and feels much calmer than the big resorts and it’s right on sevenMile Beach.
They gave us the room that was closest to the beach so it was literally steps away, also steps away from the pool and thebar and restaurant.
Staff is very friendly and sometimes we were the only ones using the beach chairs so you never have to be out at the of dawn to get one.
We will definitely return!!
The only tips I would have for the hotel would be:
- Have one of the guys working take customers bags to their room. It’s not a huge deal, but after 18 hours of traveling, we were very tired and it would’ve been nice to have someone take our bagsand wheel them to our room for us.
- supply a hairdryer in the room or at least have a couple at the front desk for if guests request one
- have an all-inclusive option so that guests can upgrade if they want to and have meals included
- supply a blanket in every room, they only had sheets on the bed, but it’s nice to have a blanket at night time when you’ve a sunburn and you get chilly in the night
- have a little section where you have some games and books to offer the staff even a few board games as guests will usually leave their books for others, so you won’t have to tend to that too much
Although I have these suggestions, they are not dealbreaker and I would return in a heartbeat
Thank you for the great week, Negril Palms!
Will soon return 🖤💛💚🇯🇲
Extremely disappointing experience at Negril Palms.
Despite having a confirmed booking, I was refused accommodation upon arrival at 10pm which resulted in significant inconvenience and having to secure alternative lodging at short notice.
On arrival, the security advused that my name was not on the list. However he called the the owner, Joseph Smith, and he acknowledged seeing my booking but stated he could not confirm receipt of payment. I advised that I had proof of payment available. In an effort to resolve the matter, I even suggested placing a hold on my credit card so I could simply stay the night and address any payment discrepancy afterward. This was refused. Instead, I was told a cash deposit was required, which I was unable to reasonably arrange at that time.
As a result, I was forced to leave the property and travel to another hotel, where I had to pay for a room again, despite having already paid Negril Palms for my original booking.
The situation was handled in a very unprofessional manner and left me without accommodation late in the evening. Based on this experience, I would not recommend Negril Palms.
Very cute little spot clean relaxing nice warm pool the beach is beautiful to walk on I would definitely stay there again
The only downfall is that breakfast should be included
This Was a very well maintained property the landscaping was like a jungle.awesone the house cleaning staff was awesome and so sweet. And nice.. I only ate in the restaurant twice in 2 weeks. Can you read into that? the food I had was good. I thought the portions were very small. But the waitresses had an attitude, and I don't need that when I'm on vacation. The beach was a little narrow. But what an awesome spot on beautiful 7 mile beach
The only thing I didn't like was the arrogant waitresses. In the restaurant. You asked for an extra napkin, and they treat it like it's a $100 bill. They have awesome sauces here. And when you ask them for a little more, they give you the cheap c*** in the bottle.
Hotel busy but did not get maid service I had to ask twice for towels
Never have wanted to leave Jamaica until staying at this “resort”. Terrible in every way from check in to check out. Do NOT stay here. It was the biggest waste of 4 days we have ever spent. Please spend your money anywhere else.
I stayed at Negril Palms after booking through Expedia, where it’s rated around 3.5 stars. Unfortunately, my experience did not match that rating at all.
Upon arrival, check-in was delayed by nearly three hours, which was extremely frustrating after traveling. There was little communication or urgency from staff during this time.
The room itself was very bare and dated. There was no dresser or proper storage for clothing, just a bed and a few old tables. The refrigerator was very loud, and the room overall felt worn and poorly maintained. Towels provided were dirty, which is unacceptable. The space was not well decorated and did not feel clean or comfortable.
Dining was also disappointing. On one occasion, food took over an hour and forty-five minutes to arrive after ordering. That kind of wait time is unreasonable, especially when there was no explanation given.
What really stood out was the contrast after we later stayed at Country Country, which is rated lower but was a huge upgrade in every way. Country Country is gated, has beach security, bellhops to assist with luggage, and rooms that are clean, well-designed, and properly equipped (coffee maker, kettle, dresser, closet, shelving, luggage rack, etc.). That comparison made the shortcomings at Negril Palms even more apparent.
Based on my experience, Negril Palms does not meet the expectations of a 3.5-star resort. With better maintenance, cleanliness, security, and service improvements, it could be much better, but as it stands, I would not stay here again or recommend it. Those that stay here year after year are totally missing out on what other places have to offer.
Second stay at negril palms , love that place . Clean towels every day . The beach is what makes it special . Big up to the manager for letting us store our motorbike at the car park during our trip . Love the security guy what a nice polite man .
See you all soon definitely back this year
I have stayed on the property many times.always happy, no problems. Great staff right on the beach.
The scenery itself made it an experience for my Queen, she never been to Negril. The comfort of walking out our rooms to the beach, other beach restaurants was all convenient. I'm thankful all I spoke about the place came to the real LyFe experience. Thank You 😎
