Staff and location.
Low ceiling in entertainment room made it very noisy.
We stayed one week in this hotel. As we are accustomed to international renowned brands, we were a little bit disappointed. The price is a little bit expensive for what you finally get. This is not the best value for money and compared to other chains of hotels.
First, we do not understand why we have to pay an extra-price to get access to the SPA: this is the first time that we experience that. This is not only a question of money but before all, a question of convenience this arrangement make the access to the SPA more complicated in not smooth way. Second, the rules are quite stringent and the staff seem not well trained to deal with unexpected issues. Third, the room and bathroom are ok but below international standards. Four, there is not dedicated areas for people who must work a little during the stay.
This hotel and more generally, this island seems to match much better to retirees than people with young children. However, we appreciated the kindness of the staff and the various amenities.
We have just returned from 11 days of relaxation and great weather in the Iberostar again, being looked after by caring friendly staff. The hotel is one of our favourite places and always makes you feel welcome. Location is excellent - a short walk into Playa Blanca where you can find shops, bars and restaurants. Entertainment and activities are available most days with keep fit for the most active. Our room was in the main building - spacious and overlooking the pool / sea. Drinks are good quality with excellent wines available for meals. If anything could be improved plates are always stone cold and don’t do justice to the food and some meals are not enjoyable when cold. To sum up, we certainly enjoyed our time there and recommend the hotel for a good holiday. Special thanks to all staff again.
We enjoyed our first holiday abroad here with kids (7 and 5) though my wife and I had been to the hotel about 14 years ago. The hotel and staff were faultless from the moment we arrived; a warm welcome with complementary drinks, spotlessly clean room, huge range of food in the restaurant, very friendly staff. We opted to upgrade to All Inclusive and were glad we did. I genuinely miss the hotel and location and really hope to return again soon.
Stayed in star presteige room, excellent facilities in room. Would highly recomend this hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful. The star presteige restaurant was a bit of a let down with only one cooking station however we found going into main restaurant to get food was good quality and more choice. This is the only thing I would fault.
Great staff and very professional service.
Pleasant common areas.
Good location.
Excellent breakfast.
It was a “sea view” room but that was valid for the living room only. The bedroom faces the common corridor which made it bit noisier and claustrophobic and you can not enjoy the main advantage of the location of the hotel - the see view at waking up.
Great and huge terrace but lack of comfortable furniture- no deck chairs, only a plastic table with 2 simple chairs. Sort of waste of space.
The mosquitos - I have no idea how, but we attracted at least 40 of them in the room and spent part of the evening chasing them. We should have been warned. We spent few nights at different hotels at Lanzarote and Fuerteventura without any similar problems.
Plus some minor details that ruin the overall expression: the room door does not open smoothly, the bathroom door that could not be closed, a shabby stand in the shower area.
Le restaurant est exceptionnel
Everything
The staff were excellant
Choice of food
Very clean every where
Gardens and pool areas very well kept
Nothing to like
Food was excellent, both for breakfast and for dinner. The hotel was spotlessly clean. The room was well serviced on a daily basis. The pool area was excellent. We had three children with us, 8,6 and 4. They loved the pool with slides.
The location of the hotel beside the Flamingo Beach was wonderful.
Evening entertainment was good and catered well for children.
Queueing at evening time for food... especially where the meat and fish were being prepared. This area should be expanded and include extra stations.
Felt compelled to put out our towels in the morning to secure our sunbeds because everyone else was doing that.
Overall enjoyed this hotel but a few things did let it down and currently unsure if I would return
Positives; very clean hotel, always see staff cleaning and they pump a pleasant smell through the lobby and communal toilets. children’s play area is cleaned regularly. well maintained, we constantly saw areas being touched up.
Food was tasty, particularly enjoyed the Asian evening. Chima who was often on the pasta station was really friendly and smiley. Osmara was a very happy friendly face in the morning.
Our 1 and 4 year old really enjoyed the children’s pool and slides, children up to about 9/10 appeared to enjoy this pool but would be too small for teens. Ice cream from the food truck at pool was delicious
A short stroll to playa blanca which was lovely. Nice selection of niche shops and some nice looking restaurants.
The staff on reception were generally friendly and helpful, domestic staff always smiley and accommodating
Negatives; our trip was half before school holidays and half during. Dinner service during the school holidays was horrendous. Huge queues for the restaurant opening time (6:30). We arrived one evening at 7:15 and waited about 15 minutes to be seated, not ideal but not a huge issue in itself- HOWEVER I was very disappointed that there seems to be absolutely no system or organisation for those waiting for seats. Maria asked our party size and room number and we waited in the queue ‘system’ that guests were trying to keep to. Another party of 4 arrived after us, but waited closer to the restaurant desk. A staff member came to tell Maria a table for 4 was available, this other family said they would take it. I questioned this to Maria and she rudely said ‘I didn’t see you’ even though we’d stood in the queue clearly visible. No apology. It wouldn’t be hard for them to record party size and room number and call out in a fair order, and the attitude is what frustrated me the most. Similarly, Gisela was often abrupt at breakfast service. An older man at a table next to me was trying to order coffee, she was very short and spoke to him very fast and in Spanish. I appreciate we are in Spain but she made no effort to even give this man any time to communicate. She then rolled her eyes out of his eyesight but I saw this and thought it was terrible. He never got his coffee. The drink ordering was very hit and miss and breakfast and dinner. I would say maybe half the time an order was taken, half the time nobody bothered to take our order. And even when the order was taken, a few times no drinks arrived. Bar staff at pool also variable in their attitude.
We found the room very hot during the night and struggled to sleep. The hotel do not operate air conditioning in the winter months. They did provide a fan but it was very loud with a bright blue light so again made it difficult to sleep.
Not a lot to do outside the hotel with little ones. Many of the excursions are for adults/teens. Not an issue for us this trip as we just wanted to chill.
I personally prefer an option of a laundrette on site when travelling with little ones as the dry cleaning was very expensive considering how many clothes little ones get through.
Overall, hotel facilities good and clean. Nice food. It’s a shame the behaviour of a few staff let it down and currently still unsure if we would return as customer service is something I highly value and appreciate
Some positives and good ones. Some frustrating negatives (biggest ones are having to chase reception for mini bar and coffee refill at 215 in afternoon, can't chill out at 3 otherwise housekeeping fillers come in)
we stayed here for 8 nights as part of a 3 month holiday....we upgraded to an apartment rather than face the children's pool area.... the apartment was very nice, but had a kitchenette with absolutely no dishes, silverware or pots and pans😨....not that we would be self catering... there was also a microwave ,kettle and keurig coffee machine....we were practically on the promenade with great ocean background noises....we only did breakfast which was wondergul..2 pools for those not part of upper echelon club...very clean and well manicured grounds...the rental of the safe was ridiculous!! for that price, you should get a free safe....there was a gate to the promenade by our room that was locked???? you could walk right in through the parking lot...also you could only enter certain locked gates from the promenade depending again on your hotel status.... I would stay there again....
The hotel is geared towards families with young children, older families and couples are not catered for. The evening entertainment finishes early and guests are encouraged to leave at 10pm. The buffet restaurant does not cater well for vegetarians, we mentioned to the concierge we were vegetarian in the hope a designated meal would be be added to the buffet but we were left with the pizza and pasta station for lunch and dinner each day. There was one heated pool, so it was overcrowded and seemed imbalanced for such a large hotel. We were housed in an annexe to the hotel so didn’t feel part of the hotel we had paid for, the furniture was very worn, the couches are noisy and uncomfortable- the couch bed is not a fold down bed it is simply the couch, not the standard of a 5 star hotel. The air conditioning was switched off, so the room was very warm and despite being offered fans these never arrived. There is no pool service or drinks or snacks, just the snack van which has no vegetarian food, and you have to go to the hotel bar for drinks. The bar staff are not very friendly, with the exception of Alex who was very welcoming and good fun. The location is good, and the views are lovely but all things considered I would not recommend this hotel nor would I return to it.
Positives of the hotel are great staff; wide selection of lovely food in the restaurant.
Major negative for us is that all the swimming pools are EXTREMELY cold (even the children’s pools), which is disappointing as we booked the hotel as it advertised as having heated pools!!! Children who brave the cold water come out shivering; whilst most of the adults just don’t go in the pools because it’s far too cold.
Rooms are fine-not 5 star in my opinion as they are pretty basic, but they’re fine. Although think the walls need a wipe as could see the splatters of squashed mosquitos from previous occupants.
Stayed at Iberostar Selection Lanzarote in the Star Prestige area for 11 nights in February. My overall opinion of this hotel is that it well deserves its 5 Star rating.
From arrival to departure the staff would do all they could to help you have a happy holiday. They always had a happy smiling face.
The pool bar is a very happy place, where we had most of our lunches. Jan and his happy band serve you well, bring drinks to you, plenty of crisps, and they remember your drinks. The snacks served there suited us as we did not want a full cooked lunch, we had to save room for the lovely evening meal buffet. The cakes were delicious, but we tried not to have too many. Loved the lemon meringue cake.
Esther, who was there nearly everyday, was brilliant. She did yoga, aqua aerobics. Her gin masterclass and the Sangria were every entertaining. Making the Mojitos was fun as well. She is quite a character.
Whilst at the hotel I did partake in making soap and also the jewellery making. Came home with some lovely soaps and a very pretty necklace which will be a fond memory of our holiday there.
We are not lovers of doing quizzes but found ourselves looking forward to the nightly 30 minute quiz, which you complete on your phone. No one knows how good or bad you are then,. I was very surprised on our last night that I did win the quiz.
I will miss the views for breakfast as well as the freshly made omelettes - washed down with a glass of Freixenet. The buffet at night was very good, loved their fish nights where lobster was cooked in front of you. Turkey, beef, duck and salmon were on during our time there. and carved by the chef for you. There was always tuna, chicken, steaks, salmon and prawns available as well every night, again cooked to your liking. We did eat in the quieter Star Prestige dining area but often went into the main dining area as more choice was available in there.
Comments could be that the red wine in the self serve Star Prestige lounge was not always available and we had to ask at reception , it was soon brought up from the bar though. I only drink decaf coffee and for some reason it was not available in this lounge, again I had to ask for this, which took a few requests before a pot of instant coffee granules was made available. It was an easy problem to be solved, but took too long. Another comment would be to the management, 3 of them, appeared one afternoon in the pool bar area to speak to 2 Spanish guests. The management were never seen talking to anyone else in the whole of the hotel. It would have been nice for them to spend a few minutes interacting with other quests around the hotel.
On the whole we thoroughly enjoyed the hotel. The children's pool area looked lovely, the games that were played around the main are looked fun, The kids club did well to keep a lot of the children entertained, they di work hard.
We will come back as we found it a very relaxing place to stay Thanks to all the happy staff.
