great central city location, room size what as expected

Stairs needed to be taken to get to the street level on the nearby escalator closed for the night… Fall risk on these older stairs
Location was central in Wellington so easy walk to most attractions.
Firstly, our room smelt terrible, like a mixture of a sweet smell and burnt rubber. It was bad enough for me to buy some room deoderiser from the supermarket, which only intermittedly overpowered it. We couldn't find the source but seemed to be a little less when we closed the bathroom door. Secondly, the staff did not process our parking correctly which resulted in a parking ticket. I raised the issue with the staff before I left and they said they would arrange for it to be fixed. They didn't, and I had to arrange for the fine to be waived myself. Despite this the car rental company charged me a $50 processing fee because the ticket was sent to them before I could have it waived. So overall our stay at Travelodge Wellington was very dissappointing, smelly and expensive due to Travelodge's lack of customer service.

Bed was comfortable and had good travel amenities with microwave in room
No AC had to leave the window open so it was noisy with downtown noise.

The location was perfect for me
My bed smelt like urine. It was terrible and overwhelming. I endured the first night, but notified the front desk first thing in the morning. I got no sympathy or apology, and in fact was made to feel like I was inconveniencing the staff I spoke with. I know they didn't pee the bed, but I at least expected to get some sort of acknowledgement that I had a horrible experience. They moved me to another room for my second night, which was fine. Very disappointed in the staff and managers I spoke to
