Pros:

It was very well located and the staff were very friendly and helpful. There was a handy laundry machine on the 10th floor.

Cons:

The room felt extremely dry and had quite stale air and meant I had quite poor sleep quality and woke up with dry mouth and nose but this could be because I’m from more of a humid climate, there was no fresh air in the room and it never really got cold with the aircon

"You don’t have any cards"
Pros:

Spacious room, central location, and very convenient transport connections. The hotel amenities are decent, and the price is slightly cheaper (around 10–20%) compared to similar places nearby. The building is also easy to spot from a distance, which makes it convenient both for guests and for deliveries. The staff can hold your luggage for a few hours after check-out, which is convenient and something that may be missing in apart hotels.

Cons:

There is a chance you may not be checked in despite having a paid reservation.
When I arrived, the receptionist wasn’t present - I entered by following other guests, and calls to reception went unanswered. When staff arrived, they required a credit card from an American bank to process the check in (even though the stay was prepaid weeks ahead).

This was not stated in booking details or mentioned during my proactive question before the trip to confirm the reservation - which would have been the right moment to clarify it. This also does not align with Hilton’s general guidance that guests can pay with “major credit or debit cards.” It also differs from my experience with other branches that accepted different payment methods. By accident, I had a card of the specific requested type that worked - but it’s unclear how an international traveller would handle this.

Interestingly I’ve seen a similar situation described online (different hotel and city in Quebec, also arriving during late hours, after the sunset), where the guest had trouble checking in due to similar payment and reception issues and ended up staying at the same chain for ~2× the regular price (in that case). It made me wonder how frequently this occurs.

All in all, the building feels outdated and not fully renovated in years - some areas show wear (corners, towels, surfaces). The bathroom is spacious but lacks basic storage (e.g., shelves, hooks).

Some facilities were not functional - the sauna was closed throughout the stay and before. The gym is modern but overcrowded (waited ~20–30 min for equipment like the crossover). The pool was fine but a bit cold, and the jacuzzi was warm but not clean (visible clumps of hair floating).

Upper floors (above mid-teens) are residential, not hotel. Guests are likely to be placed on lower floors (around 3–5), with no option to get a higher floor even if requested and for a premium.

Gym, pool, and other facilities are shared with residents from the upper floors.

The interior designer should be fired...
Pros:

Location is great. The swimming pool is also renovated and very clean. Same for the gym and the facilities on the 11th floor. The double room was very spacious and clean.

Cons:

I have a general dislike of the whole atmosphere in this hotel - the interior designer should be fired... Totally tasteless and uncosy as most Canadian and American hotels. The lighting in the room is the least to say awkward and not well designed neither. For that money you get a 5 star hotel in China that is simply outstanding. The other thing was the noise from the elevators: we were some 3 or 4 rooms away down the corridor and we could still hear them at night and even during the day. In general - not my type of stay... My children loved the swimming pool.
