A great place to stay near the Albany airport
Pros:

We travel a lot around the US and usually stay at Homewood Suites. Compared to the other ones we stayed at during the past few weeks, the Albany hotel is exceptional: the service is very friendly, the breakfast had more options (including lots of fresh berries!), the design has pleasant individual touches and the place even has a mini library for travelers to leave their books and pick up new ones. Plus, we got a very reasonable price for our Sunday night stay. We loved the place!

Disappointing room, but a great location.
Pros:

The woman who checked me in on Thursday, Oct. 1st, was not that friendly or helpful. I had never stayed at Homewood Suites and was totally unfamiliar with how large the facility was. I was staying for 5 days and brought a LOT of luggage. She assigned me a king suite on the opposite side of the building on the third floor. She never asked me if I had stayed there before, or offered to give me a map of the place showing where the best and closest elevators were to my room or where I needed to park to be closest to my room. No overview of where I could access breakfast or other amenities. Nothing. I suppose I was supposed to just know it. I am a 78 year old small woman traveling alone. She never offered to call a porter to help me with my luggage to my room when I first checked in, and only did so when I came back exhausted from pushing my luggage piled on a cart that was awful to push or pull, getting stuck frequently. In frustration I went back to the lobby, and told her I needed a room closer to the main elevator or someone to take my luggage for me. Only THEN did she adjust my room a tad closer and summons a porter to help me as he just entered the lobby. After he brought my luggage to my room, I tipped him generously, and HE walked me to where I should park my car and enter the building to be closest to the elevator to reach my room. He was very nice and helpful. The mattress in the room was lumpy and worn out. The kitchen sink faucet readily dripped repeatedly. The refrigerator was loud enough to make it difficult to sleep until I turned the setting down. The TV was nice. The bathroom was nice as well. When I told the clerk as I checked out about the problems with the room, he said there was going to be a major renovation on the rooms in November. Why did you wait so long? The place is run down and not the quality one expects from a Hilton property. Not a good look for a Hilton hotel! Do better!

Cons:

Way past renovation time. Get better desk help. The older woman needs retraining.

Pros:

I like how spacious the rooms are. The common areas, including the pool, firepit, and breakfast, are also very nice.

Cons:

The pillows could have been more substantial. Our room also had a slight odor when we arrived.

Best hotel to accomodate our family’s needs!
Pros:

Very spacious room with kitchenette. Delicious breakfast with good variety of choices…fresh fruit, eggs, etc. Starbucks coffee! Adam from housekeeping very kind and helpful! Dog area out back useful! Quiet!
