Location and Staff were amazing. I will be back there. Such a great time !
Beautiful property. Excellent staff. Good food.
Embassy Suites in the Historic District is spacious, historic and well located. Our room had a bedroom with two double beds, a small kitchen area with a microwave, refrigerator and sink. The building formerly served as the campus for The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina with guest rooms surrounding the former parade ground. Do not miss the building history cards in the lobby. It is situated a short walk from parks, restaurants, shopping and the Visitors’ Center at which the staff provides information and sells tickets to tourists’ venues. The hotel staff is helpful and personable. Valet parking attendants, especially Will, remembered us and did all they could to make our stay enjoyable. The nightly Happy Hours generated a sense f community among the guests whose paths crossed during our journey.
Embassy Suites is our first choice for any return to Charleston.

Close to college and king st - location

Needs new carpet and bathroom wallpaper falling off wall shower tiles very old

Very convenient location, walking distance to most of the city historical attractions; very friendly and attentive personnel; clean; free breakfast and afternoon 'happy hour'; the only downside - as most travelers put in their comments - rooms are dated. But not bad and if you care about not spending a fortune on stay and location is the matter - it is a good choice. Beds are comfortable, rooms spacious, no complaints here. We had a very comfortable and nice stay.
Close location to Charleston Music Hall and restaurants we love + great shopping for those who enjoy same..
Bed was comfortable & bedding was clean & fresh. TV worked (there were 2; we used only 1) & got an array of channels.
Breakfast buffet was excellent. Tasty & fresh with a superb variety of foods for a relaxing Southern breakfast. Valets and desk staff were gracious.
Room had only 1 outlet to charge devices (we had 4) …and we had to move a table & lamp to reach it. (A 2nd outlet under a desk in the bedroom did not work after literally standing on our head to attempt a connection).
Decor was dated & rather depressing. Neutral colors with cracks, repairs, paint streaks (bland beige) obvious.
Hilton should shut it down off-season and—at the least- spruce it up with major crack repairs, total repainting in more vibrant colors. Hang some pleasing art in the room as that on display near Reception & the breakfast room.
This is an old historical hotel located adjacent to a park where there is a farmer's market. I was intrigued from the get go- I wanted to avoid a corperate or modern hotel. It is pink. The workers are professional, personal and helpful. They all like each other (seemingly) and work well together. There is a fountian in the middle. The breakfast is like no other complimentary breakfast- omlettes made ot order- fresh fruit, sausage and grits. There is a courtyard to eat in- the pool is surrounded by cedar and pine trees. The rooms are older dark green carpet, slightly worn furniture- but excellent old drawings of Native Americans, Colonists, and enslaved people, with old maps deliniating historical changes- sale of land, people, etc. They have an apertivo hour with 2 complimentary drink coupons and light snacks. Everyone there is friendly. not for people that don't like old character of older designed buildings. They give away bottles of water. It is old school- in a way that is lost in corperate culture- I realize this is a Hilton, but behaves like a privately run hotel.
Our room's carpet is so stained, I won't take my socks off. The bathroom has mold in the tub/shower, wallpaper pealing off the walls, toilet leaking water on floor. I would never recommend this hotel and we usually like Embassy Suites and very disappointed. This hotel needs a major update to the rooms. Added just a few pics to show what our room is like...we are Hilton Diamond and expect better! The pics on the hotel site are nothing like what the rooms actually look like.
I felt very safe here. It is in an extremely conventient location. My room was fairly clean and the bed was comfortable. The staff is very friendly and helpful. But, as others have mentioned, this is a tired hotel. My room had frayed curtains and chipped furniture. The sink was cracked. I also didn't like being on the first floor where the frayed curtains open to the sidewalk where anyone can peer in your room. (I guess I could have asked for a different room.) Breakfast is standard institutional food, although a nice cook did fix me a tasty omelette one morning.
I stayed at this location with friends for a long weekend April 9-13. Although the location is great and the staff are fairly friendly, you should be ashamed at the quality of the rooms. The carpet is old and worn, furniture is not just dated but kind of grimy. The pull out couch in the “living room” is about 2 inches thick and is like lying on a bed of pokey springs. I fear my back, hip and shoulder may never recover. Just not up to snuff for a hotel with the Hilton name in a town obsessed with appearances. appreciated the happy hour with the friendly bartenders but the “snacks” left a lot to be desired. DO BETTER.
My sister and I stayed for three nights at this hotel from Thursday through Sunday. We were joined by four relatives from out of town who also stayed on the property. I would strongly recommend not staying here.
The hotel was in dire need of updating. Paint was peeling off the walls in both the room and the bathroom, the carpets needed cleaning, the sofa bed was in need of repair, and the curtain rods were broken, leaving us unable to close the curtains at night.
To make matters worse, housekeeping — whom we tipped — made off with two engraved wine glasses that had been gifted to us by our relatives. The front desk was unable to locate them and did nothing to resolve the issue.
For $400–$500 per night on Thursday - Saturday (before taxes), I have stayed at far superior hotels in Charleston at the same price point. A wonderful visit with family, but a truly disappointing stay.
Location and historical aspect of the hotel/military academy.
Carpeting and furniture were old. Typical 3-star expectation.
Grossest hotel we’ve ever stayed at. See the pictures! If you want a good location, but don’t mind roughing it this place is for you. Had room 405 for 5 nights.
Location
The location.
The room was well below par. It looked like a motel off the highway, shabby and worn.
I have written to Booking.com and to the hotel about the problems I encountered checking in - no one has responded. I had been told Booking.com did not transmit my reservation and had to pay twice, still waiting for refund. Also, the hotel conceals that paying for valet parking does not mean a full day, just until checkout. A total rip-off.
