Hilton Garden Inn is our usual go-to when traveling. This stay may actually change our preferences. The hotel was unkept and visibly in need of some deep cleaning. The baseboards were stained and dusty, the mirrors had splatters of something or other. The shower stall was grimy and uncomfortable. The shampoo bottle was empty, we did not have a bar of hand soap in the bathroom and the Kleenex box only had 2 Kleenex left and there was no replacement in the bathroom. There was a second sign on the mirror saying that housecleaning was done every other day and included the making of the bed. Our bed was not made and only the towels were (halfway) replenished. The staff was somewhat friendly but not to what I’ve come to expect from Hilton Garden Inn.
Having to call the luggage carts through the side doors because their front door was blocked from the cold
Last night was one of the most upsetting hotel experiences I’ve ever had — and honestly, it made me question what has happened to the Hilton brand.
At 9:35 PM, with the temperature feeling like -11 degrees, I arrived at the hotel carrying one carry-on and two large suitcases. The main sliding entrance door was locked, with a small twisted sign and an arrow telling guests to use another door — but with no clear direction as to where that door actually was.
I was forced to walk back and forth outside in dangerous freezing cold, struggling with my luggage, trying to find an unlocked entrance. From outside, I could see the front desk employee standing inside with his hands in his pockets, watching me — and laughing. He did not move, did not gesture, did not open a door, and did not attempt to help in any way.
Only after I started waving at him did he finally acknowledge me — and even then, he looked at me with sarcasm and irritation rather than concern.
When I finally got inside, visibly shaken and cold, I asked him why he would stand there laughing while a guest was stranded outside in freezing weather. Instead of apologizing or showing empathy, he became rude and confrontational, raising his voice at me.
It didn’t end there.
After checking in, he gave me keys for Room 220. I went upstairs, exhausted and cold — only to find the key did not work. I had to go all the way back downstairs, only to discover that he had activated the key for the wrong room. My actual room was 228.
By this point, I was coughing badly, my chest hurt, and I felt physically unwell from being left outside in extreme cold — all because an employee chose indifference over basic human decency.
This wasn’t just poor service.
It was a complete lack of care, professionalism, and accountability.
As a Hilton Honors member, I expect better — not luxury, just basic respect and safety. Watching a guest struggle in freezing temperatures and laughing instead of helping is unacceptable by any standard.
This experience was embarrassing, physically distressing, and deeply disappointing. If this is what the Hilton brand now represents, then something is seriously broken.
Good location, close to all restaurants.

👍
I stopped and talked to staff about cleaning the room. I had the front desk person. Tell me that they do it every other day and I was on the list for that day, but they would call and make sure that my room was attended to, and that was because I needed towels and wash clothes that I even stopped and asked Needless to say my room was never clean from when I got there Friday till I left Monday morning
Clean facilities and nice bar and food options. Staff was great - especially the bartender.
We stayed 4 days and everyone and everything was great. From check-in to breakfast to maid clean up to delicious hot tea available 24/7!
