Beautiful view of harbor. Room had lots of small niceties. Thought of everything. Exceptional customer service. Breakfast in the morning was more than expected. Tablecloths put out. Flowers. Small touches!
Room 196 sq ft, a bit small but very cozy. Could not close glass shower door. Otherwise, great getaway
Hotel on steep ramp. Going in and out not easy
Ocean view room on 2nd floor has building blocking the view
Very clean!
Nothing.
The ocean view.
TV Remote not working and 1 block uphill
Property management don’t have heart. All they care about if money. They do not try to step into your shoes.
Roof patio and views
Coffeemaker didn't work, room very small, bedding lumpy.
EVERYTHING!
Pillows were a bit on the hard side and one of the jets in the tub was broken, but EVERYTHING else was perfect.
Small toilet and sinks
The view is really nice, and the weather was perfect. I’m not sure if it’s because how high we are (because it is a climb), but it was cool the whole time we were here, and we had really good shade the whole time
The lights don’t work very well. The night stand lights kept flickering and the bathroom light kept turning on and off at weird times. Maybe the bathroom light was super sensitive because it did have a movement sensor, but, it was just annoying because it was a little unpredictable. Me and my now wife were joking it was a ghost or something lol. Also, keep in mind there is a big hill, so if you’re planning on staying here, prepare to climb
View and location are excellent and the staff is friendly and professional
Excellent location. Nice room and nice amenities.
The breakfast was terrible.
The location was great and accessible and the staff were super nice and polite
The room size was small for the price charged.
La atención al cliente
The room was great, excellent staff, really good breakfast!
TV a little outdated. Not able to log into any streaming apps for chill time in the room.
Exellente
We stayed at the Aurora Hotel located on Catalina Island and had a wonderful experience! We highly recommend staying here! Both my wife and I grew up in the Tampa Bay area before Clearwater and St. Petersburg were commercialized, and Catalina Island reminds us of this time. Most all of the hotels are locally owned and operated and we were told that Auro Inn is managed by the same group that runs the Snug Harbor Inn.
We arrived in the afternoon, and check in was quick and smooth. My wife and I were spending just the one night, and we found the room to be a perfect size. It is not a big room, but we had plenty of room to upon up each other’s carry on luggage. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the bathroom is not spacious, but everything was very clean! This is my wife’s priority!
If you are rolling your luggage from the ferry, it is a little distance away, and you have to go up the hill. This was not a big deal for us. One cool feature of this hotel is the 3rd floor roof top area. Next time we come, we are going to get take out from the restaurant at the base of hill and bring it back up to the roof top area. The views are outstanding! Prior to going out to dinner, they had free wine and cheese for the guest, which was really a nice touch.
The continental breakfast was good, but we chose to eat breakfast in town. Avalon in not big, and everything is within walking distance. Since we wanted to explore the Island before heading back to LA, the hotel will hold your luggage until you’re ready to leave.
We will definitely be back, and we highly recommend the Aurora Hotel!
If you’re looking for a wonderful place to stay on Catalina Island, we highly recommend the Aurora Hotel! Our experience was excellent from start to finish. Both my wife and I grew up in the Tampa Bay area before Clearwater and St. Petersburg became so commercialized, and Catalina Island brings back those nostalgic, small-town vibes. Most of the hotels here are locally owned and operated, and we learned that the Aurora Hotel is managed by the same group that runs the Snug Harbor Inn.
We arrived in the afternoon, and check-in was quick and easy. We only stayed one night, but our room was just the right size—not huge, but with plenty of space for both of our carry-on bags. The bed was super comfortable, and while the bathroom wasn’t large, everything was spotlessly clean—which is a top priority for my wife.
If you’re bringing luggage from the ferry, it’s a bit of a walk uphill to the hotel, but it wasn’t a problem for us. One of our favorite features was the third-floor rooftop area. Next time, we plan to grab takeout from the restaurant at the bottom of the hill and enjoy it with the amazing rooftop views. Before dinner, guests can enjoy complimentary wine and cheese—a really thoughtful touch!
The continental breakfast was good, but we chose to try a local spot in town. Avalon is small, so everything is within easy walking distance. Since we wanted to explore the island before heading back to LA, we appreciated that the hotel held our luggage until we were ready to leave.
We’ll definitely return, and we highly recommend the Aurora Hotel to anyone visiting Catalina Island!
