This is a wonderful place to stay. Our room was clean and beautifully decorated. They have great dining options close by.
We had an extremely disappointing experience at this accommodation. The lack of elevator access was inconvenient, and we had to rely on the owner to remotely grant us access. However, the most frustrating issue was the bathroom door, which was locked with a main door key lock instead of a standard bathroom lock. When we requested assistance, the owner refused to help, suggesting we use the public restroom at a nearby shopping center, which was unacceptable. After traveling from Newport, Oregon to McCloud, CA, we were forced to spend the night without access to the bathroom. The door was finally unlocked at 7:15 am, and we checked out at 11:00 am. What's worse, we paid $276.98 for this subpar experience. The owner's lack of accountability and apology was disappointing, and the checkout process was unattended. Instead of taking responsibility, we were advised to seek reimbursement through Expedia
I liked how everything was old style but well kept clean and pretty. What I didn't like is that I happened to come when shops were closed but that has nothing to do with the hotel.
Our room was very clean and so incredibly quaint! The atmosphere of the whole inn was perfect. Looking first to another stay!
So charming, so comfortable, so many soft pillows and blankets, beautiful quiet town, friendly people. We even commented as we stepped into the room that it was the first room rental on our whole trip that smelled great and had pleasant lighting 😂. We would stay here every road trip through California if we could. We had dinner at the Sage Restaurant down the road and that was so delicious and full of history and charm as well.
Genuinely one of the coolest hotels I've ever stayed at!
Small town, quaint, family owned. Has a rustic vibe. Quiet. Beautiful surrounding area.
Such a lovely building and room!
5/5 Stars
My husband and I recently had the pleasure of staying at this hotel, and we couldn't be more impressed! The location was perfect - quiet and clean, making it an ideal getaway from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
Our room was truly amazing and beautifully decorated. We felt right at home!
Downtown, we enjoyed some fantastic food at the local restaurants. Our waitress (unfortunately, I've forgotten her name) was incredibly helpful and attentive.
However, two staff members truly made our stay exceptional: Darlene and Stacy. Darlene went above and beyond to ensure our stay was remarkable, and Stacy's coffee shop downstairs served up an amazing breakfast!
We highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable getaway!
This is my favorite place to stay. I have been staying here since the early 2000s and have stayed at least 10 times (if not more). The Inn is beautifully and meticulously restored keeping with the time-period of the building but adding modern conveniences such as excellent water pressure, comfortable beds, and many other amenities. The owners are so warm and welcoming. I recommend the Mercantile Inn to everyone I know.
Amazing historic hotel.
Sheets, pillowcases towels were the top quality. The best I have ever seen.
Loved the stay. Very friendly owners. Cute lovely rooms. Gorgeous area. I will stay there again.
Beautiful old 1890's building in mountain town. Kitchen down the hall had hot drinks available. Surprised to find no hair dryer in the room. Should have packed mine. Nice toiletries in the bathroom. TV had no signal, but it may be due to the weather. Woke up to snow in the morning, so we left without trying the breakfast. Sign in the cafe listed $12 for hotel guests.
Unique interior design and warm host.
Sarah was amazingly helpful with local restaurants & place to visit etc..
Our hotel room ( Art & Craft) was Fantastic!
Huge room with very tasteful interior & very comfortable bed!
It was Best hotel experience!
Thank you Sarah!
Loved our stay here! So cute and quaint and the room was lovely. Will definitely come again!
Unique and historic property. Huge and spotless rooms, a breakfast credit valid at two great places, nice restaurant/bar on site. We stayed in the Arts & Crafts room and it was so charming and comfortable. The claw-foot tub was just what the doctor ordered after a full day of hiking. Great stay!
Great historic stay the rooms are adorable…
A charming and quiet get away with yummy restaurants within walking distance. Check in was easy after hours, would no doubt stay again!
