Pros:

The spa and bar are brilliant and the garden was nice and relaxing to sit in the sun.

Cons:

The bed wasn't that comfortable but it was just somewhere to lay our heads and the rest of the hotel was brilliant.

A good base to se the local area with a comfortable room.
Pros:

A very pleasant environment, particularly the bar and pool area.

Cons:

The rooms are not sound proofed. We stayed in on Saturday day night after a busy day sight seeing but there was a wedding downstairs which I’m sure was lovely but very noisy for us in our room.

Meals
Pros:

Our stay was good.

Cons:

The menu never changes, every time I come to the West Cliff Spar Hotel, the menu is always the same, need a change in options.
They used to have a lovely steak baguette which I loved, but they took it off the menu.

It was wonderful and I will return.
Pros:

The spa was wonderful and a very good gym. Clean room, clean sheets, comfortable bed and good TV set. Bathroom was clean. The restaurant burger was great! My room was nice and quiet and I heard no noises or other guests when I was sleeping or at anytime. It was a 10 min. walk to the beautiful beach. Very nice atmosphere in the hotel. I slept very well- except for the heat.

Cons:

It was a heatwave and I didn't realise there was no AC when I booked. I was informed all the other AC rooms were booked and unavailable. It was very, very hot and the windows only open a little bit. The spa could have stayed open a little later as it was such a excellent spa and I would have enjoyed staying later (my 1st night it closed at 5:45pm for cleaning and my 2nd night it closed at 8pm). A mini fridge would have been very nice. Breakfast- bacon and sausage were very good- hash browns and eggs were not as good and there were no mushrooms. Fresh fruit would have been better instead of the canned peaches and pineapple. The pancake machine was cute and they tasted good- but it was slow.

Disappointing
Pros:

Just return from three nights staying at what we thought was a four star hotel in Bournemouth.
Disappointing value for money. When choosing a hotel, was happy to pay the extra for the swimming pool, air conditioning in bedroom and car parking.
The location was good, if you are happy to walk 15/20 minutes into the shops.
Most staff were generally friendly. Reasonable choice for breakfast. Nice garden area to sit outside, on warm evening.
Swimming pool, was busy, as half the pool was used for swimming lessons every afternoon.
Air conditioning, in the bedroom worked, but a wet patch was on the floor.
Booked a room for 3 people and thought the room had a sofa bed for our 14 year old daughter. However, the table top bed was broken and not suitable for her to sleep on - see pictures.
The bed was replaced on our last night. No real apology from a manager - paid over £500 for 3 nights and two nights had a broken bed.

Don't try to call the hotel - waste of time as they never pick up the phone and mail box is always full. Tried to contact the hotel before our stay - gave up in the end.

I think I would struggle to say this is a 3 star hotel.

Dreadful…..
Pros:

From the moment we arrived this stay was disappointing to say the least. First we were checked in for only one night, instead of two, necessitating a return to Reception for a change of keys. This did give us the opportunity to ask how the air cooler in our room worked. We were referred to the ‘instructions in your room’. Double-checking, there were no instructions in our room. It needed me to take the out of date remote and information sheet down to Reception to obtain said sheet and a game of 20 questions to elicit how we went about getting ice packs etc. More than frustrating. And this was just the start. The room door catch did not engage. This was reported on Friday afternoon but could not be rectified as there was no maintenance cover until Monday. In the meantime, not only did we almost have another family in our room but the housekeeper did not check the door was shut after servicing so anyone could have walked in.
Despite assurances that the room would be available for us by 3pm at the latest, in practice it was not serviced until 4pm on the second day of our stay - said ‘service’ involved clean towels and a made bed. The same dirt and hair present in the bathroom when we arrived on Friday was still clear to see after ‘servicing’ on Saturday. Standard rooms are, barely, basic. The mirror in our bathroom was installed such that I could just about see the top of my head. There was no full length mirror and no safe. I could go on.
The root problem appeared to be a complete lack of proper training or supervision and no senior role models. The appearance of one manager was sloppy at best - there was no pride, no motivation and apparently no incentive or desire to do well. No one seemed to know the sort of standards required - with the result that everything sank to the lowest possible level. Management and guidance were singularly lacking and even those few stalwarts trying their best were doomed to failure.
A pool and a spa should not be the sole reason to award a 4-star rating. Catering was the only saving grace and even it wasn’t good enough - no fresh eggs available at breakfast being just one ‘fail’. In terms of customer service, professionalism, cleanliness and any other measure of excellence this hotel would be lucky to scrape up two stars. It needs a serious shake up from top down. It’s a shame as the potential is there…but if current standards prevail we would certainly seek an alternative.

Amazing
Pros:

From the moment we arrived at the Westcliff Hotel, we were made to feel genuinely valued and welcomed. Every detail of our stay exceeded expectations, and it quickly became one of the most enjoyable hotel experiences we’ve had.

The rooms were absolutely beautiful—elegant, immaculately clean, incredibly comfortable, and finished to such a high standard. It truly felt like a luxury escape, with every little detail carefully thought out to make our stay relaxing and memorable.

The highlight of our visit was, without a doubt, the exceptional service. Danny and Amelia deserve the highest praise for their outstanding hospitality. They were warm, professional, attentive, and genuinely caring, making us feel like VIP guests from start to finish. Their kindness, friendly conversations, and willingness to go above and beyond made all the difference and created such a welcoming atmosphere.

It’s rare to come across a hotel where both the accommodation and the people are equally exceptional, but the Westcliff Hotel delivers on every level. We left feeling refreshed, cared for, and already looking forward to our next visit.

A heartfelt thank you to Danny, Amelia, and the entire team for making our stay so special. We couldn’t recommend the Westcliff Hotel highly enough and will definitely be returning.
